The paying for cars might be what keeps online servers running cost effectively.

The upgrades to premium just help subsidize gt5.

Sorry dude, but I think that 0,00000003% of Sony budget is very very very sufficient to run dozens of GT servers.

They are just preparing us to something very bigger. They will charge us for fuel, tyre wear, fines for speeding, etc.

With the high prices per cars/tracks of Classic, and the better realism of Premium, I'd probably get Premium. That's just me. I also don't like the fact that you can do absolutely nothing a game Classic) that you buy until you pay extra. And, seeing as I would want as many tracks as possible, that will really suck, being $2+ per by the sound of things. Also, while I won't need/want every car available, the amount I'd like still reaches about $50 or more. That would be on top of a $50 game. :indiff:
Yep, Premium sounds better to me.

So now when the hell is GT5 coming out? Is it still 2007, or has it been set back even more?

GT5 has been scheduled for a 2008 release...if the trend follows, it could be later than that.

I'm more worried about the AI :guilty: ......if there is going to be damage, there going to have to fix that....i hope that's the plan.
if they don't at least online will have damage.

AI could use a huge fix though. I was playing f355 today and I saw something i'd never seen in GT, the last place and second to last place cars battled over a spot.

Unless something changed since yesterday, Premium and Classic are modes in one game, or one set. Or did something change?

Isn't GT5 coming out in '08?(which means '09 :P).

Oh, that would make a lot more sense.
I've only really read the first page, and it said in the first post (2 days ago) that HD was coming out in 2 versions, which usually implies 2 seperate, but similar, items.

Alright now. Now I just want to comment on the notion of Ferrari in this GTHD package by examining three different pictures. You'll have to visit Polyphony Digital's page on TGS 2006 and look in the gallery to know what I'm talking about.

First of all, I hated that one of the Ferrari pictures was in black. It can be pretty tough examining all the lines. The front of the 599 GTB Fiorano in GT5 looked pretty sharp. All the lines are done up pretty sharp. I at least want to be able to see the details better, and black-colored cars don't really give you that chance. It's the closest view of the different photos at TGS 2006.

Now let's look inside this sexy beast. The first thing I was thinking was... "is this GTR? Because this is certainly GTR quality!" For those of you who haven't played GTR, the game features about four different views. You have the regular Chase Cam, the farther Chase Cam, the in-car view, and the front bumper/nose view. The in-car view for the race cars are very precise. Each interior to each car looks different from one another and doesn't look like a one-size-fits-all deal (like what "Pro Race Driver" failed at miserably. Since when did a Stock Car have the interior of a Vauxhall Astra Touring Car?). I mentioned that the car had a GTR-style interior because of the quality of the interior. It almost seems like a track day at Pergusa or Spa-Francorchamps in GTR when looking at this GTHD view of the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. But here's where GTHD and GTR are different- this is a road-going production car unlike the racing-only GTR.

Now let's look at a red 599 GTB Fiorano from the left-rear view. First off, I'm not really okay with the wheels on this car. Some suitable lightweight racing wheels would fix her up real nice. I know some of you guys are used to saying this when a hot girl is walking past you, but let me say that same statement about this car's rear view- "...I like the view from the rear." The whole package looks very nice from the rear. This is nicely detailed as usual. I saved the picture on my computer and zoomed in. I could actually notice the small honey comb-style side duct around the side view mirror. It's a nicely-done deal.

Now for some off-topic stuff. So first I see notions of GTHD getting Ferrari. But the most recent Game Informer magazine featured some snapshots of Forza Motorsport 2. The biggest picture for the deal features the Risi Competizione Ferrari F430GT. This inclusion of Ferrari will really open the eyes and imaginations of Ferrari fans. The stupidest thing I've ever read on GTPlanet regarding Ferrari is that someone said that "PD hates Italians" or something like that. This GTHD package is an outlook of GT5. Remember that as time passes, this game will begin to look much more different and have much more to go into the game. So stay tuned the next few months and years for any new info on this deal.

One last off-topic tidbit is this article in the October 2006 version of Automobile Magazine on the Ferrari 599GTB Fiorano:

"Ferrari has moved the needle beyond the 550 and 575M, the cars that resurrected the concept of a front-engine, V-12 GT from Maranello. Ferrari sees the 599 as a sports car rather than a GT, but we'd say that it's an unparalleled combination of the two. Like all modern Ferraris, the 599 employs aluminum extensively in its chassis, body, and powertrain to save weight. But unlike the 612 Scaglietti, an eminently capable two-plus-two that lacks soul, the 599 lights up your synapses from the first stab of its red starter button. Credit the 6.0-liter V-12, which is directly derived from the Enzo supercar's V-12 and has been expertly tuned by Formula 1 racing engineers. A new F1-Superfast paddle-shift transmission sends the free-revving engine's 612 hp and 448 lb-ft of torque to the tarmac almost as quickly as Michael Schumacher's F1 race car does, while the now familiar manettino switch optimizes vehicle dynamics under five distinct modes. Ferrari looked deep into its corporate soul and decided that the late-1980s F40 supercar was the emotional template by which the 599GTB would be developed. The resulting car exceeds the F40 in performance while cradiling its fortunate occupants in a luxurious cabin lined in carbon fiber. Sports car? GT Car? Who cares- it's the best front-engine Ferrari ever built." - Automobile Magazine, October 2006 version

So that's a little extra from me to you. Carry on discussion of this deal. I haven't seen any trailers or videos on this GTHD deal yet since I don't have a fast connection on my home computer to enjoy the full depth of the trailer. Any further judgment will be reserved until then. I also have a general comment to make in another future post. Just so much to get to when we get some breaking or late breaking news here.

hey guys,
i just watched some of the movies about GT HD and i noticed, that there are still no tyre marks...
Anybody got any info about tyre markes?

All of the information about GT:HD coming from TGS lands in here, so what you know is what we know.

Kaz talks about how they want to make items in the game as desirable, more like enviable, and that not every item or car will be available to every person. You have to be able to "afford" it. He wants to create that ownership lust that exists in the offline world.
Damn, I don't like that idea. For me personally, a huge factor of my love for GT has come from the availability of cars I will never own, or even drive, in real life. Now, they seem to change the game, so you have to take just that hurdle. :indiff:

I'm split on this one - part of me (the snobby part) thinks it's a great idea! :D But in practice, what are they going to do? Make some cars prohibitively expensive? It does seem like a bit of a swizz, given that the game itself (and not to the mention the cost of the PS3 and a broadband subscription) already makes this game an expensive hobby...

I think once we have the game released, we'll have a better picture of what he means by - what all he's said. I am not defending Kaz or GT:HD (Premium). But the way I see it, if you want to drive that Daihatsu, u can wait till the GT5 eventually comes out, as I am sure theres no sudden urge for you to drive cars that you'd generally never want to drive. This game is a teaser till GT5 and something for the fans to keep going till GT5. Its going to be cheap and will have handful of things for you to play around till then, as Kaz-San said, for an hour or so every session.

But to me the GT:HD Premium is a GT5-ish game that you can mould and build to your specification. Now there were so many things/features/cars/tracks etc, that I didnt want to even touch in GT4 (and many other games for that matter), but just did to accomplish my obssession of 100% completed game. But with this game, you can customize the game to your requirements. I know its not cheap to do that, but Kaz-San has promised that buying the initial game on disc itself will be cheap and if you carefully plan your game built up properly (I am sure once it hits the shores, GTPlanet will have a thread based on that *what to buy to make the game perfect for your requirements*, more like a walkthru for hardcore / semi hardcore / casual / arcade - racers and gamers).

I think that is very innovative, expensive if you go all out buy, but cheap (even if u compare it to a ps2 game) if you carefully plan it out. Although I am basing my opinion only on the few press notes that PD has yet released.

All I want to know is, will they release graphical and car physics and handling "updates" regularly or eventually, by the time they are developing GT5 for 2008 release? Because I am sure the game will look much better and drive much better in 2008 than what we'll get in GT:HD Premium now.

Well, if it really will be like this, I do understand their idea, but I don't like it. In GT4, I have stumbled over several cars that I had so much fun with, although I never thought I would. If I have to pay real money for them now, I will only buy the ones I really want to have, and I will be disappointed if it doesn't drive as I was expecting it to. It just totally narrows the game for me, because I will not learn anything about other cars, instead of only buying the ones I know they are good.
As an example, I wouldn't have a clue about a Trueno if there wouldn't have been GT3. Now, if I still wouldn't know about this car, and it came free with the next GT, I would try it on some occasion, though - sorry to all Trueno nuts - it looks like a crappy little 80s Toyota. So, the only reason I actually drove this in GT3 is because it came free with the game. If I would have been paying real money for it at the time, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place, and I would never know how good it actually is.

I can't get that story out of my mind, where that guy somewhere in Asia was killed by another one, because he was betrayed when buying some virtual sword from a computer game with real money. Don't get me wrong, I don't see any direct relation between future GTs and this, but I must say I don't like the idea of bringing real life money into the game, because you also bring all the real life problems that exist because of money in. That's where the fun ends for me.

Now, I'm not saying that I wouldn't buy GT:HD, or that I'm not willing to spend money for virtual items. There's still a lot to learn about details of this, and I suppose we will gather a lot of new information within the next days. Still, I don't like the direction this is going at the moment.

There is a cockpit view of the Ferrari 599GTB on the official page link it's an ingame model of the car however it's not on a track it's rendered in a blank environment for a press shot so we'll have to wait an see if hey've done all the cars interiors. Theres no pictures of varying weather at all, though it was mentioned. Apparently.

With what I understand, the realtime weather change is a feature which will be added on thru the course of time (probably a free update, just like damage system). Cockpit view, in game, I dont think I have seen (apart from tgs05 video, of an evo *i think*), cept the screenshot of the 599GTB Fiorano, which does look like an ingame model than a 3d render (coz if thats a 3d render, it royally sucks :P) But yeah, atm, just a speculation.

I have seen the picture of the 599GTB interior. However, it could be anything. A menu background, an intro movie still, an ending movie still, etc. There might even be a garage feature like some other games (PGR3, TD:U) where you can walk around and inspect the car. Or it could just be a demo showing the extent of interior modeling done on each car. Until there is an official announcment of an in-game cockpit view, or a video of the game being played from this view, it's all speculation, like I said.

Varying weather was mentioned definetely. As also the Damage modelling, but I think those will be "Updates" later on, as the GT5 game development goes further on. Yes - Speculating :P . BTW, what about the ingame shots of an Evo in some snowy track, the video from TGS05 (is it?)..

I didn't dissagree that it was speculation as to whether or not we'd see an incar view in the races. Just pointing out that that car model is in game, Ashley clearly hasn't seen it, the comment wasn't for your benefit.

The view of the 599GTB's interior from the official site isn't a driving view, it's a centralised shot - not from the driving seat perspective. I guess like you say, its just showing off the modeling they've done.

Actually, in my honest opinion, that trailer looked more like the game was still in big-development. I may be the only one, but beginning of the car from a bird's eye view made the car look as if it were floating. It's also obvious the grass and road textures are in development.

However, news of Ferrari is fantastic, even more fantastic learning it's a 599 GTB.

BTW, Amar, is it true GT Premium will feature in-car, but GT5 may not?

The Sub seems to be floating because it has no shadow. Or rather its shadow is always right under the car, while the shadows of trees are correctly rendered.

And Ferrari in GT
I was a GT fan in the first place because it featured a lot of normal cars and not the scores of Ferrari/Lamborghini/Porsche that all other games were using.

About the idea of buying new cars and making some cars in limited amount, so that everybody doesn't have all possible cars, I find it great as long as it remains an 'in-game' feature. I mean, I'd like having to win races so as to earn credits that I could spend online to buy new cars or new tracks.
But it that involves real money, I'll simply stay away from Sony/GT for that generation and wait until we know more about PS4/GT6 :)

Uhmm... dont know if it was posted before but HERE you will find more Huge screens!!!! :dopey: 👍

Including Ferrari 599 interior screen.

Mmm... pictures are no longer available "coming soon" yesterday almost all where available in Hi-res.

They are back online...

I wonder how much PD will charge us for rain, snow or other live weather effects in GTHD?

I love the idea of vehicle exclusive ownership. I hated GT4 for how easy it was for any chimp to earn the same vehicle. For example, the license tests. Pass with all bronze, and win a car? Outrageous. PD gave out cars too easy. Plus, races were so short, it was easy to earn a bunch of cars and sell them quick.

In past GT games, winning a license test prize car meant something. I can see maybe earning "online credit" or perhaps game credit as a reward for completing license tests, but a car? No way.

All gold on all license tests should be reward with something nice this time, too. Like a Ferrari Enzo. 👍

Do you have any experience of online economies?

Well I do, kinda. My sister has player Neopets for a while and she's always complaining how whenever something new comes out it's impossible to get hold of, simply because there are 100s if not thousands of people waiting to buy something the instance it becomes available.

So IMO, any limited edition cars would be pretty pointless as you would have to be prepared to go way out of your way to get one.
