I'm waiting for the complaints of how impossible it is to beat SOPHY. I'm just going to soak up the experience.

We won't be battling against the same version the Pros had to contend with. I think they put a lot of effort into tuning it so that most capable drivers can be competitive against it. I think that's what they are really looking for feedback on the most. Making it challenging but not impossible.

Plus, we have industry examples of this exact thing happening. GTA V for example - once the next-gen versions came out, the OG games got axed on updates. But someone will say "hurr durr but they released the ps4 and ps5 versions together at the same time!" Uh, so? If one consoles hardware can no longer support the updates because either load times get unruly or processing power gets too consumed, yeah.. you're gonna stop getting updates for it.

It's not rocket appliances here.
Not to mention the PS5 only Horizon: Burning Shores DLC.

Was there any specific info on how many Sophys are in those races? The main flaw of GT1-4 were the 5 opponnents only and the trailer looked like this again with only -1 = 4 Sophys.

So, you’re thinking no complaints? Not even a lil bit?

Why release an AI that's up to industry standard when you can hype up a feature for two years that will only be in the game for five weeks?

PD really thought about this one
That's something I can agree with. I do find it a bit annoying that the sophy A.I. is only there for a limited time. Especially if they claim to be asking for feedback, you can only get so much in a few short weeks.

Looking forward to this as well as GVS. Sounds like a lot of fun! It will be interesting to get a glimpse of what this could possibly be going forward. Hopefully they will get enough feedback from the community and players to refine it even further and get it to a level where it can be implemented as a permanent option as competition.

This looks cool. There are obvious limitations, but I think this is about as good as could be reasonably expected from Sophy. It's certainly a lot more than I expected, and a lot sooner. Very interesting.

The time limitation has me a bit wary, but for the moment I'm assuming it's because it's still a work in progress. They know they're going to want to make changes, and they're not going to want to have to leave their original beta races up to contrast with the newer ones. That's fine, as long as there's always a few of them up and when the tech does reach an acceptable state they just start leaving them up and building a library.

This would also be a good opportunity to build a second "campaign" for the game - one that does justice to the great systems that the game already has in place. I will put up with 5 competitors in a race if it's designed well and the AI is of exceptional quality.
People would complain if Kaz showed up at their door with a lightly used Murcielago as thanks for playing the game.
Can I sell it? Because if I could afford to run and maintain a used Murcielago then I wouldn't be playing video games in my spare time.

Have you even read where they say they want to incorporate this into GT7 fully, after a few testing events?

Maybe before trying to sound so smart and above it all, have a read of a few articles…

I didn't read full article but was it really confirmed that they plan to release it for GT7? If yes it is incredbily awesome! I can't wait :D

“There are still some technical challenges to overcome to make it available through the whole [game],” Dr. Spranger explained. “Another big factor is a lot of work went into the design of this interaction. I think we all want to see how it goes and hear players’ feedback and learn from that experience, to design the best way to release it in the whole game."

From this quote I don't feel like it is about GT7 but it could mean GT8 or even GT9

Gran Turismo Sophy devs explain how it taught an AI racer sportsmanlike conduct

Tested it over the lunch break. Too aggressive in my opinion or maybe I'm just too slow... 😋 Best until now a 2nd place on trial mountain expert. Sophy it's definitely not a gentleman!! Worse then Michael Schumacher when overtaken.. And the emoticons aaarghhh!!! Can I turn them off please? She bumps in you 😖, passes u then without any mercy and then she smiles like this 😆 wt?! and each time you overtake someone one the straight, they always make a move to you as soon u are on the same height and move back... So ugly and totally unnecessary!!
I like it because it shows you immediately where u have to improve to get faster and u do, definitely but way too aggressive! If I want that I can race online... Let's see if it will be a love or hate relationship 😋

Sophy seems a bit bitchy when you try to overtake. Those kind of behave is more like Stroll level (uhh hes quicker block him or push him out) you have to fool her a bit.
But Sophy is defenetly quicker then the normal Ai.
And credits to the programmers, sophy dosnt use drive assist only abs.

It’s better. But it does feel kinda similar to the 🌶️ race at Tsukuba which is one of the few races in the game where you don’t start 30 seconds behind the leader. (In fact it’s a grid start) and where the AI actually race you. That’s a more challenging race. In fact the 🌶️ races in general have better AI but not quite up to the Sophy standard.

@ThruxtonGT
Race 1 and 8 was glitchy in the human comedy and thats why the Ai was so quick. But in terms of behave is sophy more agressive and try to slam the open door and try to switcheroo you. Ai when behind you, get stuck and didnt atack that much like sophy did.

Too aggressive, smiling as they pass you - yep, sounds like they managed to simulate human racers just fine.
I started play offline again because of the humans... 😆 But seriously WTH?! The AI should push you to drive clean and fast and not learn you how to be bitchy and dirty...

I’m talking about the regular race from the track screen not the Human Comedy missions.

It's almost as if they are going to change these races on a regular basis...
It would be nicer if they just added to them on a regular basis. Then you could come back and replay the ones you like for years. Having them time out doesn't seem like it improves the game for the players, it's just removing content in a game that's already pretty light on high quality developer generated races.

Especially given that these are supposedly skill testing - people who aren't good enough to beat the highest level Sophys in the month just won't get the chance to, and that seems worse than leaving them up for people to practice and improve against.

There may be a reason for this, but I hope at some point at least they start leaving them up. There's no real reason not to if the Sophy instances are running locally.
