Anyone else getting connection issues when trying to go to the lobby? The game locks up when I select lobby.

I'm not upset with PD for not including Spa with this update. Am I a little disappointed we don't have a new track to play with this month? Sure. I treated the inclusion of Spa this past weekend not as a guarantee of its inclusion with this update, but as an opportunity for participants to test it out. As usual, these events feature many of the world's best GTS players and this gave them an opportunity to voice any issues they may have experienced with the track build.

We know the track is coming. And it's probably not that far away from being implemented in a future update. Sure, it'll suck to wait another month or two, but this past weekend was evidence of its inclusion. I think we can move on from speculating over its absence. And we can certainly scratch it from our wish lists. We just have to wait a little bit longer for it.

Forza 7 had hundreds more cars at launch, 120 tracks & dynamic time/weather on 3/4 of the tracks.

2yrs after launch GTS still has hundreds of cars less, currently 58 tracks, no dynamic time & has only just now added non-dynamic wet weather... to 1 track. The updates are free for a reason. Because mugs like myself paid for a quarter made game. I'm not saying it should be Forza or even near to it. But only 1 wet weather track (after years of teasing it) & 5 old jdm cars isn't a 'good update'. It's lackluster.
Forza's has never been on the same level as GTS, hell Forza's not even in the same level as Mario Kart....

Since this batch of cars is tailored exactly to my taste, I might as well share some impressions.

Honda S2000:
Very on point and focused machine in both looks and performance. Just what an affordable sports car should be, and those old-school Honda revs never get boring.

Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo:

It's immediately noticeable that this car is trapped between luxurious comfort and sporty performance. Handles and accelerates relatively impressively for its weight. The latter isn't helped by unusual gear ratios. Largely uncompetitive overall, but still an admirable piece of bubble economy engineering. There's just something about those aerodynamically shaped retro halo cars with their gimmicks, rumbling engines and unashamedly loud turbo noises.

Nissan Silvia K's:

Nicely balanced ride and the turbo boost is perfectly tuned. Underrated for the way it performs in non-drifting situations.

Subaru Impreza WRX STi:

It doesn't pull and glue to road like as much as the 22B, but it's still a very fun car having its own character. Most importantly it takes me right back to 1998 where I first discovered the Impreza in Gran Turismo. Things like the special front badge, huge WRX rear logo, rim colour and old paint options are cool childhood memories I had forgotten about. I'm grateful that PD decided to remind us all these years later.

Toyota Corolla Levin:
Not much to say that hasn't already been covered by the Sprinter Trueno. Had hoped it would be differentiated more with the more common instrument gauges, but I like the exterior of this export model more. Glad to have it although at this point the game would arguably have benefitted more from a Celica.

I'm going to have to try the two Imprezas back to back next time I'm on and with my wheel, because I think the Ver.6 will suit my driving style more. Being slightly more up on its toes should allow it to rotate better on weight transfer.

60 laps on Nurburgring 24hr in Porsche 911s. That's just wacky

Fortunately not. 60 minutes.

It’s not too hard, it’s only 7 laps. You can ‘hyper mile’ it at fuel setting 3 do some short shifting and some lift and coast, and do only 1 stop while the AI stop every 2 laps. My first attempt I pushed hard as normal, had to stop at the end of lap 2, then ‘hyper miled’ it until the end as described above but came about 10 seconds short of winning, probably mostly due to a few spins and other accidents that could (should) have been avoided. So if you just take it easy, fuel setting 3 or higher you’ll only have to stop once and the AI will most likely drop off every time they pit... Going to try again tomorrow :)

Which mode were you in when you tried it out?

Look the posts below and also take read the first comment of this thread:

In order to experience the wet physics in the correct way you have to open an online lobby and set the grip from "low" to "real" since in time trial the grip is on "low" and you can't change the settings

Ah that makes sense I was actually created an offline custom race, shame though it does not work unless you do an online lobby. It makes it little more than just a dull day to me. Other racing games manage to create offline wet conditions well.

And this is good reason (for old fans) for having this update so we can do this...:cheers: :

You know before this update...

I didn't know I was looking for, I hadn't found it baby, that's for sure.

It ripped me up and spread me all around, in the dust of the deed of time.

It's almost as if I was losing my favourite game and losing my mind again...

I'm really really sorry lol.

Good review of the rain conditions.

I believe you can have an offline race with ‘real’ track conditions. It’s only Time Trial that doesn’t have the option.

Just wondered how AI handles the heavy wet on real conditions. For fun i took out the widow maker and went to custom race. Put the AI level to expert and well.. it felt like a sierra time rally with all of the AI braking waaaaay too early.

Had few fun bumbs on the way to keep it interesting.

With that amount of cars and mist the condition feel very immersive - and looks nice.

Looking at how rain looks in this game now makes me regret having played Driveclub on heavy weather more than other settings, because IMO the rain effects on this game are really subpar.

Meh, free content is free content so whatever, I'll take what I can get.

Are you sure?

Let me remind that this isn't a thread that compares the two different racing games.

Speaking about graphics my only complaint is that the cars looks dry, at least in a base PS4.

The rain in the cockpit view looks very good and the particle effects on the ground are fine.
