Sorry if this is already posted, but I found an update on GT UK official website (I'm not from or live in UK, just curious if there is already announcement about Phase 2). If you want to check it out :

To me it is looks like another application form to get the beta. But now it is on GT website homepage, never seen that before.
Idem for the French page, there is the question : what is your favorite GT? Of course GT3!

That's the problem with the Ring very few passing opportunities.:D
It's not that so much, but that's a factor for sure. I think Sport mode is doing everything right for top level racing. There are a few things that could make it more interesting, but ultimately it should be down to who's fastest.

To shake up the field in less formal events I'd propose some sort of grid randomization and/or...

Fixed tuning should definitely be in the cards across all levels of event, particularly manufacturers cup - where PD needs to sort the cars well - or any race with a fixed and limited list of allowable vehicles (and obviously shuffle race.)

The only thing you could tune in GT6's quick match loaner cars was brake bias, and that made for some awesome racing. There were plenty of events with tuning and they were awesome too but you had to really do your homework. The tuning factor really bugs me as someone without the time or interest to squeeze out tenths with tinkering. It was especially discouraging when I'd pick a car I like, get it up to PP limit, give it a quick tune I felt happy with and then I'm 8 seconds off pace... on TSUKUBA!

I actually love the fact even if im in 8th place I still have an extremely intense race. I remember with GT6 during online races majority of the time you were just hot lapping. I barely got good intense races unless it was with a group of people I knew, with this SR rating majority of the races have been a blast and, I really look forward to getting online to race. This was not the case for GT6 for I mostly just hot lapped.

I've seen quite a few posts like this and I would recommend that anyone interested in clean online racing should go to the gtplanet's Online Racing section where you can find a wide choice of clubs and leagues where you can get your competitive fix! I myself have been a member of SNAIL since the launch of GT6 and the online competition with a wide range of combos is the only thing that keeps that game fresh for me.

Here's the race I talked about, the good stuff starts around 4:10:

Good race mate, looks like everyone is having fun there! A bit sad you don't get 3rd but it is good (and clean?) race you have there. Well done 👍

Mine would be GT4 because that is the first GT I have because Photomode features and lots of cars and tracks to choose. Never play GT3 before, but the closest thing I have might be GT Concept Tokyo-Geneva I have bought after spend a lot of time in GT4. It is pretty good and still remember that unique Toyota Pod mini-game. I also remember playing first GT when I was a kid in my friend's house. That was the first experience I have with GT and I still remember the car I drove it was red DC5 Honda Integra Type-R. Such nostalgia...

Tuning might be worth a second or two at most there.

"The initial phase of the closed Beta, starting on March 17,"

Giving that PD were able to give a date for the US for GT Sport Beta, exactly what is going on that Europe
is still devoid of GT Sport Beta and not even a date!
Europe is GT's biggest fan base and what do we get, 0

We might have to wait a month in total from March 17, that'll be 4 weeks by next week.

If we still have no beta by next week, yeah probably have to wait ages...I've lost my patients already.

Aw come on, comedic exaggeration implied. But really, not all cars could be brought anywhere close to equal for a given PP limit.

It's the problem with using a numbers-based system for attempts at balancing. GT6 had that problem, FM6 still has that problem, even if they use slightly different systems to arrive at their ratings.

That's one of the things I'll commend PD on with GT Sport. Using a BoP system means every car is optimized instead of a simple calculation. The beta actually helps, so long as changes are made: it certainly seems like the Scirocco and GT-R are dominant in Gr.4 for instance, or the AMG GT at the oval in Gr.3, but perhaps small adjustments will be made to produce a more even field. The great thing about bringing in some of the fastest drivers early is that they can find the exploits that might not have been uncovered otherwise.

EU beta will start when US phase 2 starts. So I think EU have to wait until they are ready to go to phase 2 in US,meaning more stretching for the online lobbies and at the same time a much bigger test.
IMO EU perhaps have to wait for at least one month after the first phase in order for the beta to come(or even more unfortunately).

That is true, I was more talking about same car versus same car. It would be quite easy to be six or eight seconds off of the pace in a car that was really crappy:sly:

I remember seeing somewhere that the U.S. time zones matched up better for PD, assuming they're based in Japan, and it just worked out better for timing and, what I'm guessing, having staff on-hand as the beta was live. That's what I've interpreted it as.

"Patience, young Padawan, the EU will have it's beta, I promise."

I guess I'm just getting impatient, sure I might not even get picked for the beta
I'm sure a lot of people here, including myself, have bought and played to
death all things Gran Turismo from day one, just want GT for the PS4 before
the PS5 arrives :)

How on earth that guy in 3rd position was managing to keep that car on track?watching that video there were at least 5 times he lost the back end really bad but for some reason the car would get "magic traction" and stay on track.

If you mean the Audi, that thing is suuuuper unstable/oversteery under braking. I haven't gotten the Lancer yet so I don't know what kind of quirky handling characteristics, but the Audi's 4WD makes it real easy to recover a slide with - I can't imagine it'd be too different in the Evo since it's also 4WD.

You can see the instability I'm talking about at 8:40, tail kicks real wide but I recover pretty easily. It looks way more hectic than it feels, usually just a little bit of throttle will set you straight. At 1:50 you can see I make a bit of a track cut, I was expecting more lateral motion, akin to the bend at 1:25.

That's one of the things I'll commend PD on with GT Sport. Using a BoP system means every car is optimized instead of a simple calculation. Yeah, it seems the BoP is unique to each track and I'm really digging that the balance that move provided, but as you said there's some more dominant vehicles. I noticed the Peugeot creeping ahead at Tokyo, I haven't noticed the VW and Nissan Gr. 4 though. For a while the Alfa and Mustang seemed to be doing better in that group, in my experience anyways. It only seems like a tiny % bump to power or weight would fix it and it's really cool, I like how serviceable the game is looking to be already compared to the last two titles.

Very disappointing for another week to have gone by without any news on the beta for the EU peeps.
I guess that PD/Sony have done the basic lessons of marketing --> keep the momentum and be sure that potential customers do not get distracted or eventually lose interest. Another free advice is 'transparency' --> they should communicate a rough estimated timeline and not let your potential buyers in doubt because of lack of communication.

Sorry for banging on about this, but the quote from PD went something like this
"The initial phase of the closed Beta, starting on March 17, for the US, and for EU sometime after"
this is so vague and very disappointing, especially for a game that is already 6 months past the official release
date and this is only a beta/demo that a select few are going to get to try.

3. You must keep confidential all information relating to the beta software and the beta. You must not discuss the beta with anyone except us and other people taking part in the beta ("Beta Testers"). In particular, you must not discuss the beta with anyone associated with a competing videogame format or publisher, a news or information service (whether television, magazine, newspaper or otherwise) or in any online forum or chat room, other than our official beta forum. Any codes or passwords which give access to beta software or beta forums are personal to you and must not be shared with anyone else.

So much for that based on all the activity over the last few weeks :sly:

It still depends on how the servers have been coping so far. They won't want to introduce a big batch at once and ruin the experience for everyone.

Latest post on GT's Facebook page says they're moving into the next phase of the beta. Doesn't state whos getting in, but it something.

It'll probably be the same tactic as they did for the US rollout: 1,000 EU players for a kickoff then gradually open it up.

They ask you a lot more than the previous form though. What GT games have you played, which one is the best? They also ask you to post your opinions and hopes for GTS.

So who ever kisses the most butt and has a way with words might stand a better chance at getting in!

I applied and did my best! I wasn't lying when I said I've played all of the GT games they asked about. Also - GT4 is the best GT game.

*Ducks and runs*
