This isn't pandering to casuals at all anymore, though. Online competition with sim racing is not a 'casual' experience. It's not like some Call of Duty game where you can just jump in and do ok, or even if you suck your team still does well or whatever. Everything is on you. And you're going up against real humans, not garbage GT AI. Competition is going to be much, much tougher than casuals are used to. The general learning curve of sim racers in an online, competitive environment makes for a fairly 'enthusiast' level focus.Races are short because GT is (once again) pandering to the casuals. They need to make a really long race intentionally though at some point.
But how frequent will those be for those of us who aren't a part of the 0.1% best racers who are going for these top level competitions? I'm pretty decent, but I'm not a top level driver by any means. 3-5 laps races just aren't gonna cut it for me in a game like this. This is a beta. Lengthier races will be a must for those FIA license events and tournaments which are led up to by any legitimate, competitive races.
