25 cars and NO GT-R gr4. :banghead: I want to join thd dark side. Gimme a GT-R gr,4.

A mixed bag for me last night. First race at Dragon was awful I started a little further down the field than usual due to an increased driving level and got swamped by GTR's from behind, I only have the Scirroco! At the moment racing in the pack is pretty horrible. Too many people who don't respect others. I also noticed a distinct lack of racing sense. It was reasonably easy to move through the field by positioning my car correctly for the upcoming track. I didn't see any defensive car positioning. And likewise it was pretty straightforward to keep clearly faster packages behind me by positioning my car in a defensive manner. Possibly the TT nature of qualifying means that out and out speed over one lap with no other cars does not translate well to wheel to wheel racing.

Moving on to the ring was much better.....apart from the lag! I had a couple of races where I was stuck in 2nd behind someone who was warping all over the place, it was impossible to even get close because I was constantly breaking or steering to avoid a car that actually wasn't there. I really hope they sort the net code out because at the moment it's not good. The final race on the ring was great. Started third and stayed their for the whole race just waiting for a mistake or an opportunity to pass. Second place made a mistake on the 2nd Karrusel which allowed me passed and then I made up time through the corner after the Karussel to get the run on 1st down the straight. Got in the draft and pulled up alongside 1st place at the kink on the straight, weirdly 1st place gave me the inside line through the kink which meant I nudged ahead going into the last series of corners for the win! Increased my SR significantly over the night and filled about 3/4's of the bar to the next driving level, C.

After a week of the beta I'm still undecided about GT Sport. I'm enjoying it but at the moment it's more the competition that I'm enjoying. I'm still really not sure about the physics or ffb, BOP is clearly not working, net code is lacking, the amount of track cutting allowed is ridiculous and I'm not sure how much of a gam there is going to be. Particularly for those people who are not at the upper ends of the speed charts. The game seems very geared towards the quick guys at present.

Yeah I have to agree with @PzR Slim the BOP is really bad the top 10 for Brands Hatch Indy as of writing this consists of no less than 8 Gr4 GT-R's, Here I am stuck with only FWD Gr4 cars so sandbagging is really my only option to be even remotely competitive in a race against them, Lets see if it works when the event starts.

Hey guys, just a question I'm wondering since I can't check it out myself at this point but how many cars are in the beta so far? I have around 35 currently from last time I checked, Is there anymore?

Had a wonderful race at the 'ring last night. Oh no wait I didn't. I got pitted while overtaking which punted me into the barriers, one massive accident that was not of my causing later and my SR is decimated.

Thing is I'm not even sure if it was deliberate as the issue with lag and car teleportation could have been the cause.

Yep, netcode is all over the place at the moment. I have zero confidence in any cars I see on screen.

I have seen someone mention that there were 40 cars in the beta, can't confirm this though.

What is Stage 3?

Stage 3 to me is one of two things.
Either a continuation of the closed beta, but adding Asia into the mix, and also Aus. and NZ.
Or the start of the open beta.
My guess is the first option.

Regarding more content, I wouldn't hold my breath.
But I do find it interesting that the only evidence of Porsche's inclusion to the franchise on the official website is through images of the car on the EU beta expansion news item.

Yes i also got punted off track and straight into the barrier while trying a clean overtake on brans hatch. Get to the end and think the guy who pushed me off would loose more so i check and he stayed the same SR and i lost 5 SR points? Is it broken?

The Porsche 'Scapes' images appear in the main menu of the beta too.

I assume you're talking on the PS4 when playing the game?
(As an Aussie I'm yet to get a go)
That sounds promising.

I guess "wouldn't hold your breath" was too negative.
I was hoping to see more content after 1 month of the US beta to keep those involved engaged.
I wasn't expecting 3 new tracks though. :P

And I doubt the 911 would fit into N300. ;)
I'm also still surprised Gr.1 cars are yet to be seen.
So who knows.

I'll revise my earlier statement and say:
New cars, possibly.
New tracks, doubtful.
New features, highly unlikely.

Irrespective of whether you were punted or not you will lose SR points by going off track and maybe more for hitting the barrier. The punter may have lost some points for the contact but made the same amount up during the rest of the race.

Or maybe not, I was guilty of knocking someone off track during one race and I am sure he lost points but at the next split my SR indicator pointed upwards. The contact was minimal in fairness. I did wait for him but I doubt that was taken into consideration by the system.

Yep, sorry should have made that clear. The Porsche models appear in-game as several of the photos that 'rotate' when you leave the game idle.

It would be very good if we could have a deep explanation of the SR system. I've gained points in every race I've had so far but have no real idea what has contributed to those. A break down at the end of the race or a blog explaining exactly how the system works would be most welcome. Or even a bunch of in game screen shots that are automatically taken by the game for negative incidents for people to view at the end of the race so they can learn form their mistakes.

I would be surprised if this system isn't being constantly reviewed and revised due to beta racing and feedback.
So it's probably too early to cast judgement yet.

To my knowledge, the best official explanation we have so far is from this image.

I don't know myself but the largest number (of unique cars) I've seen posted here is 36.

What is Stage 3?

Probably a rollout of the beta to Asian regions, as I think PD has said this is happening, and that's what stage 1 (US) and stage 2 (EU) were.

If this system is going to function so blindly as to harshly penalize someone who was punted off the track, they need to make it stick to everyone.

Example: two cars contact, one immediately goes off track = both cars net the same SR decrease regardless of what happens in the next 5 seconds or so. The decrease should be limited for one general incident. So if you make contact (-1), go off into the grass (-1), slam the wall (-1), have to drive backwards a little to get going again (-1) or maybe spin in the sand while trying to get going (-1) the net SR decrease for that whole incident should be -1 or maybe -2, and not -4. And it would be the same for the guy who may or may not have instigated it.

Laggy teleporters are the strongest beings in the universe. It should be easy for PD to implement a force blow-off limit where the game will ignore unrealistic collisions from them. Two cars driving along at a relatively equal speed, and then a sudden Hiroshima bomb level force is detected? Ignore it!
