Played a lot tonight, T300. Hate Willow Springs, always have. I could see getting addicted to chasing the driver rating and rank. That system sure keeps the competition tight. It's good stuff.

I'm not loving the physics, cars feel disconnected and insensitive compared to AC. Not a scathing critique, mind you. General driving principles all seem to apply as usual but man I forgot how forgiving GT was. I have 5 cars, and they all seem to feel the way I'd expect.

I'll sleep on it, see if I can summarize my thoughts better then.
Thanks man! My personal opinion you might need to run that Audi TTS on comfort soft or maybe even Comfort mediums. I think those Sport hards are to grippy for stock cars. Like I said thanks for the feedback!

Glad to see more codes are going out! If I ever get one I would love to start a thread just on GTS physics discussion.

I have a PS4 pro and PS+
I have a G29,T300,G27,G25 & DFGT that I can report back on as to if any work and how correct they feel.
I have spent massive time with assetto corsa using both the G29 and T300 on the PS4.
I have 15 years of both sim racing (including all GT titles) and real car racing, and a very strong physics background. Physics issues in sims are painfully obvious to me with all the competing in real cars every weekend during the season.
On a side note, assetto corsa has extremely real/correct physics and FFB, especially with a T300. I half wonder if AC is the reason GTS was delayed last Fall, since the delay was announced right after AC was released on PS4 (coincidence?)

I would love to report on the physics and FFB but I don't have a code...:indiff:

Hey man. Long time! Hope you're well!

Took all day, but it finally was done downloading.

First impressions is that to my surprise, the physics aren't this massive upswing in difficulty like I thought. I'm already at home with it and I've only done four laps. Right now, I'm just doing time trials to get to know the feel of it.

First cars for me:

Renault Sport Megane R.S. Trophy
Renault Sport Megane GR.4
Mercedes SLS AMG GT3

Videos will be posted up tomarrow.

This is what I like to hear. I'm all for the games that innovate and push the boundaries (Shenmue, Metal Gear Solid, and Rez are some of my favourite series ever), but I really like that GT has carved out a particular style in terms of features, handling, and style. It's like your bed or a nice pair of slippers, something you can return to and feel comfortable with no matter what. It's a constant in an ever changing world. :)

(that got a bit weird didn't it)

But i agree.

Just had to ask, guys. Has anyone without US PS+ received a beta code at all? I have an EU PS+ and used a US account I use to buy games on the US store and havnt received a code. I know it seems to still be very rare to get a code, but does it seem they detect if you have American PS+ before they consider sending a code?

@TNR_5zigen just got the beta today, hes livestreaming.

Just by looking this and few other streams it looks like camber toe combo works like GT6
20:1 on front to get actual drive angle on wheels to zero without "body rigidity", in GT6 with body rigidity rate is 10:1

This means tuning -3.0° front camber needs -0.15 toe to get "zero toe"
So basic race car -3.0/-2.0 camber targeted to small toe out(-0.04) on front and small toe in(+0.06) on rear needs GT toe values front -0.17 and rear goes straight in with +0.06. If body rigidity were used then front toe should be -0.34 for same -0.04 effective toe.

there was a guy sayin he does not have a PS+ subscription

-could you elaborate as to why a seasoned "real car racer" with a physics background chooses assetto Corsa and belt drive wheels? It's just that Most guys that have been "sim racing" for 15+ years and who have the $ to race for real have an iracing membership. From my encounters, a vast majority of them don't even consider AC a sim either. Rfactor and iracing seem to take most of the praise when it comes to tire model and physics. You should check them out. AC is nice for hotlapping but by no measure would I ever consider holding it as a "bar" or "standard" to hold other sims / games up against.
Personally I've loved GT just because it's GT. The last thing I think about doing is comparing it to my PC sims. Two completely different worlds.
And I'm not trying to start anything or nit pick on anyone. I just get a little tired of hearing about assetto Corsa on this forum so occasionally I feel somewhat compelled to put a check on the praise it gets from adoring players who don't seem to consider the other offerings.
I can assure you from the most passionate speculation I can muster up into a forum post, that Kaz did not delay GT because of Assetto Corsa. Lol.

I'd also like to add that I don't have a code either. So fml.

EDIT: got a code Friday.

Instead of him checking other sims, I would recommend you to check your friends

First thing I'll say is that the game is FUN. Maybe it's just the new game feeling or the anticipation - but whatever the reason - the game is FUN. My BIG 3 categories for the game are Physics, AI and Graphics.

I received 3 cars - Mitsubishi Lancer, Hyundai Genesis Gen. 3 and Hyundai Genesis Gen. 4. Physics are the most improved aspect of the game over GT6: Handling is sublime, you can really feel the weight difference between classed, the weight of the car in turns, the sense of speed, acceleration and braking. I love flying full speed into a corner (against better judgement), slamming on the brakes at the last second, hearing and feeling the car backfire, and accelerating out of the corner just in time to miss the grass or bumper.

I have never been a huge Tuner, so I did not attempt to tune any of the cars. In addition, I played with no braking or steering assist.

The AI: I played 5 or 6 races on Intermediate in Arcade mode against the AI. In intermediate mode the Grid position I started in was 12th every time. I feel like the AI is slightly improved over GT6. The "rabbit" leading the pack was not always present, as 4-5 cars jockeyed for 1st place in a few of the races. And in viewing the replays, I did see cars behind me did in fact spin out on occasion. But Grid racing is sooooo much better than Rolling Starts. I hope PD keeps Grid racing as the default or at least an option.

The graphics are the least impressive aspect of my BIG 3. They are improved over GT6, but only slightly IMO. Still, the graphics are good, just not GREAT. Mind you, I am playing on a 50" 1080p 240Hz tv, no HDR and no PS4 pro. I am curious as to what the game would look like in 4k with a PS4 pro. I felt like I noticed jaggies along the roofline of the car, but at the same time there were little touches (lighting, air balloons, slightly improved crowds) that brought life to the graphics that have not previously existed. Also, when I spun out out on the dirt I noticed (in the replay) a guy on the sidelines waving a yellow flag. Nice.

Online is something I care about least of all, but I did get one game in on Sport Mode, and again I do not have PS Plus. I was disappointed that I did not receive a "sportsman grade" or something like that to assess my driving style, but other than that, online was fun. Hopefully PD assigns rewards or incentives to clean racers.
Great feedback. Thanks for posting. This is stuff I like reading.

@titleguy1 a video so nice, he posted twice! ;) thanks for the videos!

been following the conversation for some time now. and as marvin has finally found his way to gtp (👍) and the BETA is running (), its time for me to be more active in here again! welcome marv and holla at you gtp members!

im waiting for the european beta to start... did my registration... fingers crossed i get in... cant wait to test drive myself!

Oh my god its him, its really him
@DaBomb330 @TNR_5zigen congrats to you guys getting beta access. Ive watched your uploaded videos, if anyones looking for Alien quick drivers on wheels:

Zigen:

Dabomb:

Thoughts guys? I guess I'm looking for comments on its handling I can judge how it looks and sounds myself? How much of a step up is it from GT6? FFB easy to setup feels grear/bad/the same?

Ok so online actually looks like it works quite well for the most part. Matchmaking looks quick and does a good job of pitting people against worthy opponents.

Also like the auto-balance of power though we'll have to see over time how effective it really is. Still, a sensible solution when people cant upgrade their cars.

Few negatives:

- It really needs some positional markers for close-by opponents. If you want people racing safe, dont make them race blind.

- I'm not understanding the collisions. Sometimes it looks like they're there and other times cars just ghost through one another.

- I hope 4 lap races aren't standard. I get that it means there's more frequent races, meaning less waiting for people trying to get into a race, but I hope there's options for those of us who want to do at least 10 laps.

I have to say, I was one sloppy jalopy. Got worse as the night wore on.

Could be the DR and SR at work by drawing better competitors as the night progressed. I would say my driving actually improved even though my finishes weren't as good.

I actually hope we could form a team of lets say 4 people, racing in endurance races, switching drivers online

The HUD does have the option of a position radar, I've seen it in a few videos.

Quite agree, its putting me off in quite a big way.

Yea, I've seen the radar and am not a fan. Much rather have a dynamic marker on-screen pointing out cars for you so you dont have to go taking your eyes off the road so much. A lot can happen through a corner and just one quick glance might be all you can afford, but it wont help you if things are different by the end of the corner than they were at the apex.

I get that the radar is a cleaner solution, but without a 'digital' rear view mirror and with the inherently limited FoV we have racing on a flat screen, I'd like something better for a game that is built on online racing. They should do all they can to help people race cleanly.

I'd actually prefer a UDP app such as Crew Chief, which acts as a spotter for you and calls out who is behind, to the left, right, etc.

I use it all the time with PCars and its the ideal solution to the problem.

Yup, that is definitely the best way to do it.

But I'd be absolutely fine with a simple dynamic on-screen marker. I think it's something they could implement pretty easily since they obviously have the promixity data already there to use. I'd love an actual vocalized spotter, though.

Also got me thinking too
Since the beta signups for the US is still open.

All the people got their beta, did you pre-ordered it though the PS Store?
