Yeah, I don't hear tyre screeching when they're racing on TV watching the GT3/Porsche Cup races unless someone clipped them and spun off. Even onboard shots.

Even when race cars slide the tyre screeching is subtle. It doesn't dominate. I remember Martin Brundle commented on it when the turbos first came into being how he could hear the subtle tyre sliding but it didn't dominate the sound. You had to really listen for it.
I think of GT's tire screeching as an artificial aid, really. Since the sensations to warn you are otherwise not present. It can be done through FFB pretty well (should be better in GTS) but how many GT users with wheel vs. controller? I think to do it through DS4 vibration is a stretch. It's one of those things with GT that is probably a lot more carefully thought-out and rationalized by PD than most would give them credit for.

Ahh, the literal facts!

I'm unsure of where you're coming from.

The phrase itself, quite literally means sticking to the facts. No synonyms, abbreviations, interpretations or assumptions. Never mind, it's not really important, it was tongue in cheek. (not literally)

The ghosting is starting to grate. Theres no correlation between a driver rating and then not subsequently being penalised for what would have been surely a negative score. It was there in GT6 but only when penalties was used, this meant that penalties were rarely used in GTP Leagues because of the unrealistic scenario's it generated. So find it odd that an SR rating can improve whilst under racing conditions that would nclude ghosting if cars. I hope that this is not the case when it is released.

Not sure if I'm adressing your concerns, but I'm still trying to fully understand the rating systems during the beta. I can tell that it's a welcome addition if they ultimately function as intended. Time will tell.

It appears that 'Sport' mode is designed so you can increase your rankings but I think (don't quote me) there will still be open lobbies. I hope the rating system will help aid players in finding open rooms with similar drivers of your ability and driving style. Promising stuff.

I think its amazing the driver rating system and how it groups faster drivers together due to speed and safety. The ghosting i hope is based on some intellectual reasoning not apparent yet..... hopefully they will not allow it in the Higher Licence levels, as i don't like to see ghosting for talented drivers.

i have some point i noticed from racing others games and things not yet seem by me in the beta.

1.) Going off track is too Grippy.... In the elite beta race on williows the fastest current leaderboard driver put 2 wheel off track, and the 2nd place driver was not able to over take. The loss of speed due to 2 wheels of the track is not being punished. Going on the grass should result in the grip levels being lot less. I assume the physics don't update so fast so they wheels still retain grip over bumpy surface.

2.) In Assetto corsa there is a time Delta to 3 decimal places and really really helpful during a race. In the format 1.XXX. trying a different line helps to show how much time is lost and which line is incrementally better. Racing at high level is all about incremental improvements. This feature is a Core feature that ought to be included. Once used the usefulness of it becomes apparent to improving lap times and understanding fine difference in incrementally different racing line

Using the above video (I'm making no judgement on driving just on SR rating )

Watching from 13:02, there maybe more examples just selected this one, you can see that a collision would have resulted had the cars not ghosted, then half way down the next straight, at the next sector split you can see the SR rating animation above the timer

So in all intents and purposes the game rewards you with SR rating even after causing cars to ghost. This is surely wrong?

You know what would have been great? having someone plugged in both their PS4 and PS3 with GT Sport and GT6 on them, that or PS4 and XB1 to compare with FM6 or PCars. I would like to see someone do several laps on Branch hatch (for example) in the same exact car on GT Sport first then switch immediately to GT6 and do the same thing. It should gives him/her a better idea on the improvements of the physics.

I would do this but I have not gotten the beta.

Same here but I think I'd start with GT6 then move to GTS.

Edit: And I'd have to move the PS3 from the theater room (or the PS4 TO the theater room 💡) but both of those are an easy fix.

My plan was to do it with every racing game I have right now, so it would've been GT6, FM6, PCARS, and AC.

Buuuut, I haven't been selected for the beta either.

I hope the daily workout gives me a nice car today. Also crossing serious fingers for something other than Willow tonight in Sport mode.
I haven't really checked I just know I went up about 5 points yesterday.
Watch me get some non-competitive VGT and the Sport races are on that oval track.

What did the driver ratings climb up to last night for the people who started Tuesday night? Have you faster guys gotten into competition with any of the earlier beta testers? I imagine their ratings could be really high by now.
I haven't really checked it out. I just know I went up about 5 points

Yes, when you drive fast with a street car and tires. But not on slick tires and race cars. If you here tire screech during a race irl, it often means that a car spun/is sliding.
Sorry I wasn't aware that the car was on racing tires. You're right about that.

Eh, my feeling is if ghosting is enabled, it's not a super-formal event anyhow so no biggie.

I had a lot of minor contact with no "SR down" indicator so there's some kind of threshold there, thankfully. I imagine that threshold could vary depending on the event settings, but even at the highest level it should allow some rubbin'.

Think my point is that for driving through cars there should be 0 SR increase. The game should teach this with ghosting turned on. Driving through cars is very different to some rubbing.

That SR rating seems a little bit to simple for me actually and flawed, correct me when I am wrong but I've also seen when people get hit by others that their rating goes down which makes no sense and isnt fair except you block somebody on purpose but how could the same know that? And when they accidentally get offroad but hit nobody else also get rated down. I mean those things has nothing to do with clean driving or the interaction between players. So as example a guy like Marvin who is always respectful and even apologises to AI driver lol, gets rated down because he often hits the grass and would then might get into races with people who also got down rated for being crash kiddies???

Or I might havent understood that whole thing properly yet...

to put is simply, SR drops are due to going off track and (supposedly) collisions. the problem with the system in this game is not that is broken or flawed, but it's too lenient. in order for sport mode to really work they may need to be a little more strict when it comes to SR in race.

of course adding a spotter will solve 80%-90% of the crap that happens in online races

Can anyone who has played the Beta with a wheel give us a review of the ffb and physics please?
I've searched everywhere and haven't found anything about either of them yet.

Thanks in advance.

I have a few questions about the SR rating.

Is there a cap on it? Such as 100 is perfect, 10 is terrible?

Those that have the beta, how many points are lost per collision?

Edit:
I remember this news from June 2016 with Jordan.
https://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turis...hmaking-system-sportsmanship-points-detailed/

I'm curious if someone has looked at their pre race rating, got into a decent wreck, then saw their SR went down post race.

The driver rating and driving etiquette is a pretty difficult and delicate subject and very important in the overall competitive online experience. Few thoughts.

-Most importantly, WE, the drivers should be concerned about how WE altogether can make it a clean and sportsmanlike experience. There s no automatized system that can ever cover every difference between a mistake, a nasty push, blocking, early braking,... So it should be US working together on promoting clean driving, starting with ourselves. Its a question of mentality...
-Another thing: we need heavy damage. So people dont get away with the banging style. Not even just once.
-Something which is currently not yet implemented and doesnt seem that hard to do: forcing yourself on the inside of a corner and 'rubbing' someone out should be heavily penalised.
-The idea about clean drivers finding each other through the driver rating is a wonderful idea but im afraid its not YET functional as it should be.
-what is alot easier to do and what we see already happening is fast drivers find each other through the rating system. But fast and clean do not necessarily go hand in hand...
-ghosting cars seems like a bad idea because that way we ll never learn how to drive cleanly with others around on track.
-I see alot of the faster drivers using bonnet view. The view needs a rear mirror so one can have an idea of whats going on around.

The fundamental flaw with all of this is lag.

Lag spikes have ruined many races in the past. What if you get punted off the track due to a lag spike? That person gets penalised through no fault of their own.

But through two ways. If heavy damage is implemented, it no longer becomes a deterrent but a race ruiner because now both drivers are out of the race.
The other, new way is your rating being hit. You didn't punt that other person off the track, the lag did.

Without a human actually watching a race, things like this can never truly be fair and just.

Something like this

Still no rear-view mirror in Bonnet/Hood/Roof Cam view i see; only bumpercam. 👎
I have a dream that some day we will get this for cleaner online racing at a minimum. :boggled:

Looking good by the way, i can't wait!

Yea good point, ghosting = set you to neutral at least.

So am I the only one that thinks it looks and sounds just like GT6, except for the obvious graphical improvements?
