Gran Turismo Sport delayed to 2017

It states its gaming division profits, not PD's as such you are making an assumption.

Dev costs alone are not the only factor involved in selling a game, games do not market and distribute themselves, nor do you earn full profit from every sale you make. Do you honestly think that they made $30 profit on every copy sold?

None of which changes the fact (and its a cold hard one) that PD have brought in zero revenue for Sony this generation, and every that goes by without a release increases the income needed to break even.

Yes and none of that will even come close to the revenue of $750 million+ that PD has brought in with GT. I feel like you're just being stubborn now.

Sony/PD are hardly worrying looking at how much money the brand makes.

Citation please

Odd the people behind NFS once thought that as well.

Now how much have they made in sales this generation, that's the point I was making and you keep ignoring.

Pick up both. I own them F1 2016 is a great 'game', very well executed and a great atmosphere. AC complements it nicely, not so much a 'game' but as you might have heard already an excellent driving simulation.
I would if I could, I simply don't have the money. I also don't have a wheel so I don't think I would get as much out of AC. Hoping both games are on sale in late September, early October. I have PCars to tide me over until then.

I don't really mind the delay, as long as they are improving the game.

However, I do feel that PD really should communicate more with their fans... I remember when Assetto was delayed for consoles, they actually released a new trailer and gave more information, instead of just telling fans "sorry, the game will be delayed" and then going silent again (whatever happened to the PitStop blog?)...

Pretty much my thoughts exactly.

In fact, I probably wasn't going to be able to afford the game on day one, so this is probably a plus for me.

I can't say I'm surprised about the delay, honestly. personally, I would prefer to have the "new revolutionary features" integrated as updates, simply because of the already substantial time into the PS4's availability. I hope for the best, but I can't be sure anymore

Sales are non existent because a product has not been released. They are not unhealthy like Forza's. We do not know the health of the GT franchise till it releases.
If Forza is unhealthy due to declining sales, what exactly is GT's health going by sales figures? GT6 sold less than GT5 Prologue. The game couldn't even sell half the number of its predecessor.

By your judgment of "franchise health", GT is in a much worse place after GT6's poor reception and needs Sport more than ever to be a sales success.

I don't want to be that guy, but as a GT fan for more than a decade I must.

Claiming that this will be the best GT so far is a bold statement. For that to happen, they would have to copy GT4 and GT2's formula, add full customization, livery editor as good as Forza's, physics close to Assetto Corsa's, sounds as good as Forza's, get rid of that horrible carreer from the past two games, make it easy and fun to get credits and buy cars.

Also, they better bring back dynamic weather and day/night cycle. They cannot claim it's going to be the best GT if they ditch these amazing features from a previous gen title.

I'm a bit upset that I'll have to wait until next year to see people play it and decide if it's worth buying.

Oh well... AC and FM6 are more than enough for now. And we get FH3 in a month from now.

All racing games are declining. GT6 sold more than other racing games during the same time. I think 10million mark is pretty impossible now for a racing game.

Which doesn't answer the point he was making at all. You said Forza's sales were unhealthy (without providing a source or a frame of reference by the way) but failed to answer how GT's nearly 60% drop in sales from GT5 to GT6 was not also a sign of poor health for the franchise. Selling more in a race to the bottom isn't necessarily a sign of a healthy franchise is it?

Exactly. Although with respect to @gtracedriver1, he wasn't the user who made the comment about the "health" of the franchise.

Not trying to defend PD or anything, but I think people tend to forget that GT6 launched as a last-gen game, which may have resulted in weaker sales.

I think the sale performance of GTS will be a better indicator of the GT franchise's "health".

I was just waiting for that news, knew it was coming. I honestly dont care much. Should they take all the time they need to. Having the advantage owning both consoles PS4 and Xbox One limits me not to one franchse, I can enjoy the best of both. Still busy with FM6 and the soon arriving FH3 will entertain me for a long time and furthermore there are more games such as AC or Dirt Rally which are also great.
Played GT6 few days ago again and just realized how unfinished it feels, choppy framerate. Strange camera positions, lack of camera views, narrow FOV, not even able to rotate the camera around the car which is a standart by now... etc made me realize how aged it feels compared to newer games in terms of gameplay.
So take your time PD and bring GT Sport to up to date standarts.

I just hope the game wont release choppy and unfinished and then will be claimed the cars and content would be already up to PS5 standarts as excuse...

Ok, gonna bright up the things here a little bit! Thanks to @Doudii_nside for the update! :D

Yes, it's real! :D. And for a little temporal relieve for them, Microsoft might not be at TGS, so GTS could steal the whole racing show at home! :D

Edit: from the PS japanese page (blame the google translator)! :D

At least, these are good news considering everything that happened :)

Great... I'm getting a PS4 for Christmas & it was mainly just for GT Sport. No more Christmas GT for me! It could release anytime, I predict November 2017. Oh well, gives me more time to save up for the collectors edition I guess

Nah man, 23 December 2017 would be a better release date at that time of year.

Pretty ridiculous really
I wasn,t really excited about GT Sport anyway considering its only half a Proper GT game (and not the half i wanted ) so in my thinking they can,t even release a prologue during the PS4,s lifecycle.

If only Sony would put there backing behind the creators of AC or project Cars , i,m thinking we would be in a much better place.
Oh and before i get flamed , I,ve owned every GT since the beginning , including prologues and Tourist Trophy

Well PD needs indeed an overhaul because for todays standarts they are far behind. The most ridicious thing though is, that the guy behind PD (Kaz) can't be taken serious in any way. Everytime hes in an interview he gives empty promises aswell as the standart reply "thats something we are also looking into"
Nothing really ever been the way Kaz told us. They are being extremely slow but the most negative about them is simply the lack of communication between the community and them.

While other developers have active forums where they give updates and let the community know on whats going on and even reply to questions or take suggestions from the community, PD does simply nothing. We all thought that Blog they opened would change things but it didn't. There are no kind of relevant news regarding developement progress and overall not many updates on anything but usually public events.
That attidute wont work very long anymore.

What do you want? A developer diary on youtube :P We do not deserve Poly, they are too good for us. Let the social media tools for others. I'm sure Poly is preparing a CD demo for the next Playstation Magazine.

Christmas 2017.
GTS becomes GT7 20 year Anniversary Edition.
Cover car: Castrol livery FT-1 GT3.

Might as well make it a milestone.

How do you steal the show with a game you just delayed? It was delayed for a reason, they're not going to turn up and show off a running demo that looks amazing and ready to go, otherwise people are rightfully going to question why the delay.

I'm assuming it will be mostly the same old demo again running on the show floor. If they had a version of the game ready to show off all the tracks, night, weather, damage etc it wouldn't be delayed.

It gets better and better, not only did T10 go Gold with FH3 on the day Kaz delays GTS, but T10 have now ported FH1 to XBoxOne...

So here we have PD that can't even make a NEW game for the PS4 anywhere near its launch date and are still doddering along with their current premiere title STILL on the PS3, and T10 have taken their "3 games ago" title and brought it to the latest console.

The least PD could have done was port GT5 & GT6 to the PS4 to allow people to continue playing on a new console while they wait.

All we need now is for Kaz to announce his retirement so he can focus on his racing career LOL ;)

You wanna know the likely reason they haven't? They don't have the time to do it themselves and unlike other companies they won't outsource the porting work to another company.

But guys! Kaz is only following the content-cutting trend set by Forza, he's not wrong in that! Content takes time!

And promises carry weight, friend.
