Doesn't really work when they celebrated their 15th anniversary in November 2013.

I would guess we'll get a new date as PS Experience next month. I'd also guess it's the other side of June, perhaps August/September.

Gran Turismo released Dec 23 1997 - 20 years on.... Dec 2017 ... not holding my breath...

Also
Gran Turismo 2 - December 11, 1999
Gran Turismo 4 - December 28, 2004
Gran Turismo 6 - December 5, 2013

Gran turismo 1 came out in Dec 1997 and it's been 5 years since gt6 plus forza 7 will release at around that time. And as for delay it make perfect sense to delay it to sell it as a 20th anniversary edition for marketing.look at the tread they release gt in December.

Again, what year did PD celebrate their 15th anniversary? It only makes any sense at all to unnecessarily delay a game internationally if they had recognized the Japanese release date of the first game to begin with.

If they were planning on doing the anniversary thing they wouldn't have announced a 2016 date (twice) in the first place.

You don't understand marketing plus they just wanted to build hype.See everyone complains about delay but pd know from research gt fans will alway wait cause we always have.Just remember my post.they can't release a half finished game due to the drop in sales in gt6 from previous gran turismos they need to get this next game right first and foremost for pds sake.

Build hype for what? A celebration of a release date of the first game that they didn't celebrate when they threw a 15th anniversary celebration only 3 years ago?

I mean, I only went to college for marketing, but it seems that making high profile announcements of things like public betas and game release dates and then creating fiascos after trying to quietly cancel them, just so you can push the game back 13 months to hit a release date that is irrelevant to most of the people who will buy the game, seems counterproductive to the hype train.

Yeah but you'll still buy it when it comes out.

No, I probably won't. But me, the person on a Gran Turismo fan forum, is not the person who Sony would be trying to reel in with stupid marketing stunts like delaying your game 13 months just to hit a milestone date that was ignored the last time your company celebrated the series anniversary.

Because, again, if the Japanese release dates are so important for a series that sells better everywhere else in the world, why did they not care about them when they announced GT6?

gt fans will alway wait cause we always have.

You say this, than in the next sentence you say this...

they can't release a half finished game due to the drop in sales in gt6 from previous gran turismos

Which seems really odd as GT6 actually released in a timely fashion.

As much as it pains me, I think GT may be heading to the same place Sonic, Medal of Honor, Guitar Hero and a few other formerly relevant franchises find themselves. They may still have the occasional title come out but they're just a shell of their former selves.

Yeah but you'll still buy it when it comes out.

I can't speak for him but I know I wont. Had GTS released a year or so after the console launched along with Driveclub becoming a regular franchise I would have bought a PS4 instead of an XB1. I can't afford a second console so there will be no GT for me this generation.

It's been 3 years since GT6, a game with a 15th anniversary edition.

Wasn't the 15th Anniversary for Polyphony Digital?
"Polyphony Digital Inc., a subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc., is a software developer entity. Originally a development group within Sony Interactive Entertainment, the creators of Gran Turismo established Polyphony Digital Inc. in 1998."

Three years. It's been three years since GT6, next month.

As for all the other errors in your post, have a re-read of the Acceptable Use Policy you agreed to when you joined GTPlanet.

People understand marketing just fine. The point is your math is off.

Nope. Straight from the website:

A special “Anniversary Edition” made to celebrate the game’s 15 years of successes and achievements.

Just noticed my pre order is still in my queue and says Dec 19 2017! A whole year we have to wait when they are playing the game all over the world right now at trade shows! There should be a beta to us in December or January if they are using the game at all the trade shows dont you think??It finally make its way to North America and will be presented at the The PlayStation Experience, held December 3 and 4 in Anaheim, California.....Hmmmmm i wonder if a beta is not far off.........

Now that one is interesting. Not a typical placeholder date, the right side of Christmas and the correct Tuesday for the US, so it could well be the real one. Then again it could just be the last Tuesday before Christmas as that is their absolute latest possible target.

I think Poly doesn't even know when the game will be ready for release. That's why they have cancelled some pre orders or give a whole year of delay. Just a way to have more time.

To be honest it seemed obvious to me the delay would be a long one when it went from a day of release to a year. Not even a month or quarter, just '2017'. You don't delay a game indefinitely just for adding polish and finishing touches, you know how long that would take and you give another specific date.

Placeholder date.

Zlork knows best, his predictions have always been spot on in the past. Oh wait...
Correction, 99% spot on:sly:.

PODI will announce a new date when it'll be ready...which they've already done...and it didn't come to fruition. So there's that..

No one in their right mind would release a big game that late in the year, not to mention setting it so far in advance.

So he's the programmer then? Car modeller? I know, he makes tracks! No - he's head of studio. If he has to be present for things to get done then two things. He'd be a bad manager and he would be employing tbe wrong people.....

That's right. Managers are completely useless. It's not like they provide valuable support, guidance and assistance to their employees. It's not like they're there to help when things get a bit off the rails, or to manage resource allocation in a changing environment. Frankly they should be done away with entirely and just replaced with a hiring manager who gets the team together and the start of the project and then is fired so he doesn't cost the company extra money for no value.

Do you think about what you type or do you just roll your face on the keyboard and take your chances?

I thought this would get old after a while. It really hasn't. It's still funny. Just like PS4 Amateur being able to do 4K native with a software update.:lol::lol:

Way to completely MISS THE POINT. If Kaz could galavant all over the place and the team stopped doing anything - that would mean NO COMPETENT MANAGEMENT in place.

If the team stopped doing anything at all unless someone was watching over their shoulder, then they're so incompetent that they probably wouldn't have made it out of high school.

I'm assuming that everyone who works for Polyphony at least finished high school (except for possibly the guy who cleans the bogs), and are thus capable of fulfilling their daily tasks themselves if nothing goes wrong.

Most places will last for up to a month or so without management, but then the lack of direction and support starts to cripple the people who are at the coal face, so to speak.

Hmm. You're saying we'll get at least two more dates which turn out to be wrong and delayed further? Like with GT5 I mean :sly:
