Before, in the VS thread. someone had mentioned that GT Sport's sun reflection in the rear windshield was unrealistic compared to the direction of the car's shadows on the track surface. I'm no shadow/graphics/physics expert, but could someone chime in on whether GT Soort's reflection of the Sun in the rear windshield is true to life? Just curious - Many thanks 💡👍:gtpflag:

Edit: I only chose this video because it was readily available. The intention isn't to compare to the Forza footage :)

If I think about it, they seem accurate (GT Sport). And it seems the sun placement in both videos are different, too.

And oh everytime I see a gamer commenting about such minor thing...I remember this: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=132567083&postcount=882

Man, just did my first ever race (done tons of hot laps but only have a few cars, never got the daily objective too much), and while the tyre wear system is great and all, the Scirocco absolutely EATS up its tyres like there's no tomorrow. Lap 5-6 on Brands and I was pretty much a car without wheels, it was incredibly hard to turn at all. I gotta keep playing to get that GT-R! Would definitely help with tyre wear since the power goes through all 4 wheels unlike the Scirocco which relies on the front wheels for everything. Think I'll stick to GR.3 for now, haha.

With the pre-orders..... I'm afraid it will be full with paid downloadable content. If I don't preorder I don't get certain cars? Why? That sounds a bit crazy.... I hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid I'm not.

They're likely just going to be early access, rather than exclusive. I'm willing to bet everyone is going to have access to the cars in the pack. If not, than it'll function as day one DLC.

What's odd to me is the "livery sticker pack." Is that an exclusive, or are certain stickers going to be tied behind some sort of wall?

My best guess is that some of the stickers in the game might have to be purchased with in-game credits and/or could be prizes given out for victories/podium finishes, events completions etc. Pre-ordering might be a way of simply getting the stickers immediately without having to use game credits to pay for them.

And the full game in my PS4 Pro!!! NOW!!

Weellll, gonna have to be patient on that one since we still don't know when its out.

As far as I can tell, its nothing but content that'll already be in the game so as said its more "Early access" then anything else.

Those preorder bonuses are really underwhelming. I love the beta though and I really want to pick up GTSport on release but PCARS2 just looks so good. So much value for money. I can't justify buying both, since I'd never have the time required to get the most out of both. We really seem to be spoiled this year for choices in racing games.

Good. 🤬 pre-order culture.

Just tried v1.08 to see the mechanical damage, fuel depletion and tyre wear. It is nice to see the beta still getting important updates too. Gameplay is still doing nothing for me though. GT, after near 20 years I think it is time we went our separate ways...
:(

Good racing with you @EDK and @Gravitron (when it wasn't interrupted by a moron going Senna into the corner every chance he got). Sorry for the bits of I contact I did have, Saw a lot of lag and it caught me off guard at times under the brakes.

Good. 🤬 pre-order culture.

Blame the people that encourage it by blindly doing so without thinking (or after they played a glorified, non-updated demo called a "Beta")

What's the point of pre-ordering when you can buy the game on the day?

There are exceptions to the rule. For example I'll pre-order any game called Uncharted of Gran Turismo because I know what I'm getting. The whole pre-ordering gets you an exclusive item because we don't want you to wait for reviews is slimey though.

Well not all of them like that (as you say there are exceptions). The ones that just reek of sleezy are the ones that are ridiculously expensive just for tiny bits of content that don't justify the massive price hike. Those royally piss me off (along with the Store exclusives, those are just god awful).

For people like me, its just having the game well ahead of time and having decided they like what they see (or in my case, liking what I've seen from the BETA of this game)

For many others though, its the "gimme right now" mentality people have nowadays. There's no patience of any kind, they want it now and refuse to wait (look at the people that got all pissed when the Tekken 7 release date was announced). Perfect example is this Free-To-Play game I have where the people who supported (and practically funded) the game during closed Beta got exclusive stuff as a thank you for it. People who weren't there got all pissed off just because they couldn't have it and constantly complain about it, even though the developers have this contractual obligation NOT to release that to people that weren't in closed Beta.

I want to get the limited edition post-release. But, I'd like to leave off the eight car starter pack, and the million dollar credit bonus - that would mess up the early game grind/training that I want to go through.

...You should've tried other stores.
The girl at Wal-Mart didn't even know they released the game so no one ordered it and the Game Stop... I was done after an hour driving.

Exclusive is the key word - maybe the livery pack will be exclusive? That would be awesome and I'd pre-order for that. I'd love to have some exclusive logos that I'd put on a few of my custom vehicles. I'd even pre-order if we got 8 or so racing suits, and 4 or 5 helmets -- all exclusive.

Maybe the cars will have custom skins with livery shapes/logos that you can use elsewhere? If either doesn't happen, there is nothing to make me feel special among other drivers. Sounds a bit entitled, but if I commit beforehand or pay extra, for what is the most part just digital content, I should get specialty exclusive digital content.

As it stands, I only plan to get the Limited Edition if I can choose to forego the million credits and eight cars. Some people might like the upper hand of cars and money, but that would ruin the grind that I want.

I had to wait over 2 weeks to buy GTA 5 for the PS4. They wouldn't sell me one cause I didn't pre order.
Well, after a couple years, do you think these 2 weeks were such a PITA that it'd have been worth to tell the devs 'hey, I bought the game before I saw the real thing, so if you want you can spend the rest of your budget on trailers and PR stuff, and forget about actually making the game'.

I know that the GTA V case is different as the game was already out on PS3/X360 and the 'next-gen' version had probably no gameplay differences. But GTS isn't a graphically updated re-release. It's a brand new game, and by preordering you are telling PD they have a guaranteed sale. The more of these they have, the less they'll worry about post-release sales, which are made by delivering a proper product.

Not hating on you, I just think preorders are a huge part of what's making games become half-baked pieces of defecation.

I seriously doubt anything will be "exclusive".
I think they learnt their lesson with the Signature cars.
(Much to my delight :sly:)

You can always simply choose not to input the codes into the PSN store should you wish to get the goodies from the Collectors or Limited editions, but wish to start on the same footing as those that didn't.

Why should you?

I feel like people who commit to a purchase before any reviews or pay extra for a special edition should receive exclusive content - nothing that gives a performance advantage, just something cosmetic. Give me 10 logos that only pre-orders or LE purchasers can use on a few vehicles. Or some exclusive racing suits or helmets.

These simple exclusive perks wouldn't be hard to produce, and it would give me an incentive to pre-order <--- it's not like racing games usually sell out on day one (maybe Mario Kart games?).

I do want the liveries though. Just not the cars and money. If they had separate codes for cars, money, liveries, that would work:tup:

But as @queleuleu mentioned, its vague and there isn't enough detail to know. Oh Polyphony Digital :boggled:

Drive Club had exclusive Pre-Order cars and special #DriveClub Livery, this was a good incentive for me to Pre-Order and as far as I am aware they never released the RUF/Mclaren as DLC (they did the SLS version) and these stayed as exclusive pre-order cars although I think you could race them in the career but not own them in the garage.

I think if GT Sport offered a few unique Cars in a special Pre-order GT Sport Livery you could never buy on DLC in the future, this would entice me again to pre-order the game. At the moment I am waiting to see what package to get as when I Pre-ordered last year (they refunded in the UK) I went for the Digital Deluxe Pace Car theme for something different.

Literally both of those franchises have done pre-order bonuses.

I've no problem with special editions of games existing. Players are getting more content for extra outlay? That's how just about every other product works in the real world. If I walk into a BMW dealership, I can't lay down money for a stripper-model 320i and then complain that I haven't received a fully-loaded 340i.

The only real issue I have with pre-order culture is something @RACECAR mentioned: unique store-exclusive bonuses. During FM4's pre-launch, there were five different cars tied behind specific outlets. Want the BMW 1M? Better go to Best Buy. Want the WRX STI? EB Games. That sort of thing is a nightmare.

Why should you?

A fair amount of people like the idea of "supporting the company". We've seen it discussed with GT, where people will buy DLC to "show support". Slightly Mad Studios does it even more directly with the WMD system. It's a choice — nobody is forced to. Giving these people some perks for doing it doesn't seem unreasonable, IMO.

Season Passes are the same thing. You're buying at your own risk: it may be content you don't like, which is why you can wait and buy later. I bought the FM4 Season Pass because I was impressed with the car lineup of the vanilla game, and was not disappointed. FH1's DLC was far less impressive, so I skipped out on it and the FM5 SP. Only with FM6, when more unique models were again returning, did I buy the pass — and I enjoyed just about every single car that was included.
