Who was at PAX West over the weekend? I got to play GT Sport with the PlayStation VR headset and it was incredible. I want a VR set now for my PS4 Pro. I also got to meet the North American producer for Gran Turismo and he was such a kind and warm person to talk with. Friendly and excited to speak with me. We talked a lot about other racing sims, general life stuff, and GT Sport. He was grateful that he got to talk with me and to learn that i'm such a huge fan of the GT series. I was very grateful for the opportunity myself to speak with him.

Cool! Did he by chance verify that PS3 wheels will be compatible?

GTS OST is shaping up really nicely. There's already a playlist on youtube with some gems. GTS is just missing Daiko Kasho ;___;

Interesting discussion on GAF. What will be the biggest holiday exclusive this year. GT vs PUBG vs Super Mario Odyssey.

PUBG is huge but the fact it's on PC already might affect it. SMO has way less of an install base but should move a lot of units.

GT>PUBG>SMO for me.

PUBG won't be huge on consoles, especially only one XB1. Mario and GTS will be close: 4-6 million range. My bet is still on GTS.

There will be Frankfurt Motor Show in upcoming week, but I doubt GTS will have big surprise there unlike in Geneva with the announcement of Fittipaldi EF1 and surprise partnership with TAG Heuer. Probably just another public demo.

If there is any, probably the full reveal of Iso Rivolta/Zagato VGT? (It is been said to revealed at GTS launch date, but who knows?)

Next week should be an interesting one (or couple) to observe.

With Champions League starting, I wonder if GTS' broad marketing will start as well. They used their huge space to announce Horizon.

And with that, I too wonder if and how a campaign would work. Keeping it "recent", GT5's "We love cars" for Japan was really cool; America they rode their Butler character with some funny ads.
GT6 unfortunately didn't have any of that: really sterile (and thin) presence in broad appeal advertisement.

Now GTS' is alone in terms of Sony own releases, but it's between some of their acquired third party marketing deals. Will it be a no-show like GT6 was? Or will they have region-oriented campaigns as GT5 did?

The "Join the human race" campaign re-use seems to be an internet thing only *thankfully*.
Using the car/racing brands to social market is a good move but I'd love to see some classy mass penetration stuff :embarrassed: of olde.

Finally, there's TGS and shortly after release, PGS.
For a (most likely) GaaS, there should be a good S-plan to be laid out to build consumer's confidence in the platform they'll be purchasing into.
I want that too.

Can we expect some in-game stuff from Carlos Sainz? Photo from Carlos' Instagram.

They could do a LOT, and with virtually ZERO effort! And that would be just make some on CONSOLE produced material showing how those new features (and gameplay) actually perform actually on consoles - so simple. And it would be such interesting and news worthy content for all gaming sites and CONSOLE racing fans! Great exposure... Two weeks from release... But they are hiding under the table.

I've preorder pCARS 2, but have some really bad suspicions about performance of features and general gameplay on PS4 and Xbox.

They did a very bad thing by blowing off everything at GC time last month. In one week we got several videos and now its nothing at all.

Yet there are still a lot of details, rain gameplay and an entire game mode that they haven't shown yet. The only way their strategy is bad is if you are expecting a new video with new details every week (which doesn't happen often, if at all, in gaming).

Right now, they are having a plethora of auto manufacturer's send them a picture of their logo and creating a custom livery and marketing through the manufacturer's social media accounts - which has been done like clockwork.

This talk is about pCARS 2 hiding from exposure 2 weeks from release... It's not about GTSport, yet :)

No its about GTS marketing most likely being quiet now as they would be better off targeting the launch week for PC2.

PC2 has not and is not hiding, we had new PS4 footage a short while ago:

And the next developers live stream is happening at 7pm tonight, along with regular posts and questions still be answered in the Q&A thread here on GT Planet. However this is not the thread for that discussion.

Although you may not like it, this example just proves the point.
There are no officialy (by SMS) produced on CONSOLE materials.

This is, as you've said, from a while back! This is not from a build of entire game (Gold build, that is finished "weeks ago", at least confirmed by producer and Ian Bell on this very site)! This is just old VERTICAL slice of a game, and those have been proven in many games as very misleading!

It was done by couple of NOT-SMS representatives who will not be hounded for any possible misinformation or misinterpretation... And this wasn't even pickedup by EU PlayStation.

I've asked directly both producer and Ian Bell in pCARS 2 thread about - officialy produced (by SMS or Bandai Namco) on CONSOLE materials - they responded to my OTHER questions, but totally ignored those!

That.Is.Hiding.Under.The.Table - imo.

Lastly, it was you who brought pCARS 2 into this recent discussion (but I do not mind).

And would love to finally see some official on console produced material - PS4 and Xbox. Of GOLD phase build!

I brought into the discussion the most likely time that PD and Sony will target the next wave of GTS marketing, and I didn't mention a title at all.

"Its unlikely that Sony and PD would want to make any major info available this week, that would be far better used in a couple of weeks from a marketing point of view."

The discussion was about GTS and its marketing, this is not he thread for discussion about PC2 and its marketing. Please don't attempt to turn it into one.

They've done a good job, overall, SMS. They've managed to position their game as a unique title in the genre, and with such heavy hitting competition all releasing at the same time, that's credit to them. However, that PS4 footage is not great compared to the PC version.

Back on topic: I was scathing of PD's PR/marketing nous last year, but they seem to have upped their game in recent months. Allowing third parties to advertise their brands via GT Sport was a good idea (liveries, cars), the Instagram has started working finally, nice trailers at key times without revealing too much. And as someone previously mentioned, if they push it hard during TV spots on Champions League matches, it could be a big hit.
