Always been a fan as well, but for most iterations I haven't bought them anywhere close to release. I had to vote "Already intended to buy/preordered GT Sport, will still buy GT Sport" as it's factually correct, but if the bundle with the DS4 hadn't swayed me (meaning the game effectively only cost £25) I would have been "Undecided, still undecided". This could easily have been the first main release I skipped.

The demo seems to have gone backwards in a couple of key areas compared to the beta - DS4 handling is worse and off-track SR penalties are back. Both are inexplicable and frustrating. Reducing the SR penalty for running off track was one of the changes PD made in the beta after feedback, and the system seemed fairer after it.

Pretty sure offline saves will be in the full game and that online saving is only in this demo. It was posted somewhere earlier in this thread.

To be clear, after the tweak in the beta, going off track still stopped you getting an SR boost for a clean sector. So there was still a penalty for it. Just not as much as hitting another car, which seems fair to me (since you might go off track to avoid a collision).

That's funny. Does every race driver crash off the track every race? No. Your mistake? Pay for it. If I go too deep into a corner I know what's going to happen and I know it's my fault. You can't deal with it? Your problem.

It is a safety rating and going off track isn't particularly safe, so it makes sense that it loses you SR. As long as its not too harsh I see no issue with it, as long as you don't make mistakes that often it shouldn't affect you.

They don't crash, but I'd say typically most racers will go will go a bit wide on at least one corner exit in a race (IRL). And typically unless they make a habit of it, there's no penalty at all.

I have no problem dealing with a penalty if it works for the system. You seem to have a problem dealing with any criticism of the system, and just treat any such as if it's coming from a whiner.

Well that's exactly what I'm saying, it's too harsh if it's an instant deduction, since there's a penalty for it anyway even without that.

Most importantly, it unbalances the system. Worst case: get punted from behind, lose SR, end up off track, lose more SR, and possibly get a (badly calculated) time penalty as well. All in one incident. While the punter continues with only one loss of SR.

SR calcs seemed pretty good towards the end of the beta, I don't understand why they reverted it.

Holy crap that 30 lap race endurance is freaking nuts!!!! Ive tried it so many times already so frustrating lol

Its all about consistency and working out your pit strategy early on and sticking to it. To win I turned the fuel map down to 6 and made it a 2 stop race, stretching out two long stints on the hard tyres and using exclusively the lowest fuel map before speeding up for the final stint on mediums. I was able to get 13 useful laps out of a tank of fuel, and did one stint of 13, then one of 11 and a final of 6.

Why not both? Besides GT already had collaboration with Mercedes before back in GT5, so this quite obvious. Still, this is great news to have with.

Nah, I don't think so. Unlike Peugeot, I guess Merc enough with the current VGT (it got spot on Justice League btw, I think they happy with that). And seeing a collab with Lewis means this is related with Mercedes F1 team or perhaps the inclusion of AMG Project One hypercar in which Lewis had involved on it's development as well.
