Hi,

haven't signed a contract so far, can't decide which manufacturer to choose.

Any suggestions which one to take - and which one not?

thx,
D.
It's a test series, pick the manufacturer that best represents the one you dream you could race for. I have long dreamed of racing a Viper GT3-R in real life GT3, unfortunately I'm not rich. That's why I chose Dodge, this is the closest I might come to fulfilling that dream.

ATM, I'd say just pick what you think would adapt better to your driving style. No Gr.4 top manufacturers will be top also on Gr.3, even Nissan is overpower in Gr.4 but is mid-range on Gr.3. About being competitive I would say Nissan or Dodge or Porsche as seems to have potential on both categories. I signed up with Alfa as I find it really sexy, aesthetic side, but found out to be really good with proper setup.
Also, it is just for the Manufacturer Championship, in the other 2 you can use whichever car you want, even changing cars between the races.

Not sure if this has been discussed already, but do wheel drivers have an advantage over controller drivers? I use a controller and I'm struggling to keep up in the Sport Mode. I'm lucky if I finish 10th.

Nope they dont have any.
There are people that are super fast using the pad.Not only in GTS but in other titles too.

Well I found a hard core sim racer who claimed it can't be a sim because you can go faster with a controller. I'm not faster with a controller and I tend to believe it depends on what you personally are better with or more comfortable with.

There are fast and slow players with both wheel and controller. Both have steep learning curve to master to perfection.

I use a wheel and cant imagine having the same control of the car with a pad. But i been using a wheel for over 8 years. I guess if u have been racing with a controller for very long time its the other way around.

Theorically, wheel users have a high-end advantage because they have more precision, because of higher "movement" needed for pedals vs gril and wheel vs stick. But that's all.
I personally found on GT6 to be early faster with DS3, because it is much more intuitive and easier as the game itself sets the optimal maximum steering, along with giving you the "hand of God" assist to keep the car in the track. But for a serious manner, wheel is the way because of a small advantage when you reach around 99% of the limit.

Its not a "sim" (from the "harcore" perspective) for various different reasons.I think his point was that "pure" sim are not easy for pad users. But he is wrong. You can use a pad in Assetto Corsa and go fast.Maybe he thinks the same about AC (its not a "sim")?
Then again "hardcore" (or elitists, use whatever term you like) are mostly on PC platform, using always a wheel.

I know what others think, they have not refrained from sharing how they think it isn't a sim, personally I think they are wrong and I consider myself pretty hardcore, I have spent thousands of hours in iRacing and other sims.

This has to have been pointed out already, but how about the Mustang wrecking everyone in the sportsmanship tutorial. That's pure gold.

*edit* I just realized that the cars in the tutorial vary, so yea. Not as funny.

Cleans the car in game, but the preview images for liveries and such still appear dirty. Might just be a bug. Still going to annoy me to death, though 👍

That's strange... that's exactly why I searched for the "car wash" solution. So far, it's worked for me with every car I've tried it with... unless I've just jinxed myself by saying it!!! :banghead:  ;)

Cheers

This sounds stupid but where can you do that? Never saw it....... haha

Sport mode, try to enter manufacturer's championship and it makes you choose.

I'll probably pick based on which cars I want, now that I've finished campaign and got all those freebies :)

Thanks guys. I've never used the wheel myself so don't even have a frame of reference. One thing for sure I'm a bit rusty, period. Lol. Especially because I haven't touched a racing game since, well, a long time ago- that plus the fact that I need to polish up on my car settings savviness. Looks to me wheel is the way to go though.

I just realised I have been navigating the main menus the hard way, that is by using the directional buttons, as opposed to the left analogue stick... please tell me GT5 and 6 weren’t the same.

The whole sim simcade arcade is just silly to me. Ive played them all, iracing rfactor AC automobilista all the so called hardcore sims. And sure they probably do a better job in simulating whats going on. But doesnt mean i cant have fun racing titles like F1 2017 or Gran Turismo. At the end of the day even the best simulators cant mimic what its like to really be in car racing on track. So i dont care if the physics arent spot on. As long as it's decent enough and i can control the car i can have fun racing it.

Well if ure rusty and havent played racing games allot its not a big suprise you're not gonna be fast right away. Racing and especially racing side by side with other takes allot of skill to do correct. Its not easy, but when done right it can be very satisfying. Wether u use a wheel or pad, practice and experience is key.

But if u like racing and have the cash for a wheel i definetly recomend one though. It is just a better way to be playing a racing game imo.

I'd like to see a podium at the end of the race and also on the achievements list. I have 53 races and 15 wins but I think 90% of the races I finished on the podium. Someone who finishes 2nd or 3rd gets the same "recognition" at the moment as the last person on the grid.

Just today, I had cracking races against other people where we finished the 10 laps around Nurb separated by less than 0.3sec or 1sec (3 cars). But only the winner gets to track that on the achievements, the others, who were "right there" are relegated to oblivion. :D

I think it would a) make people take less risks to get the win and screw the guys who are in first place on the last corner and b) give those who race a bit back the chance to fight for a podium finish, which is always easier to get than a win.

I love this idea... maybe a 10 second podium scene with the drivers in their custom racing suit/helmet. And just like the 'winning kill cam' at the end of COD matches, make it so that it appears on everyone's screen.

Yeah this is something I've been saying for a bit, also be nice to see actual progression (or not) of your DR and SR post race rather than just a blue or red colour to some 'movement'

The whole car/sports car argument is silly to me as well. I've driven 911's and Saturn Ions and everything in between. Sure the 911 is much faster and gets around a corner better but it doesn't mean I can't have fun in my Ion. At the end of the day the best sportscars can't mimic what real racecars do so why don't we call them all cars instead of sports cars, econoboxes, luxury cars etc?

Can't wait to try out PlayStation VR in GT Sport at home!

Yea I had this thought as well. Need more scenes for the end. Podium would be good. Maybe a different podium one where the three cars are in front of them.

I think they need more shots that include that car(s) at the end to show of peoples liveries.

I would prefer a better physics engine, dynamic weather/time,better car/track list to be added than this but I understand that not everybody thinks like I do.

Medium Rear, Soft Front, change to soft when you pit and only take enough fuel to finish. Catch the leader as fast as possible. When I did it I noticed I hadn't taken enough fuel and was going to run out before the end so I did some fuel saving and kept swapping position for 1st toward the end of the race. I ran out of fuel near the end forcing me to block before the finish line to ensure Gold. In hindsight I think some strategic fuel saving earlier in the race when chasing 1st might be a sound strategy so I think it is important to run a flawless race to get behind first as soon as possible and do a bit of fuel saving to make sure you don't need to take too much fuel but can still finish and you stay in touch with 1st waiting until late in the race to finally take the lead.

I think this was the toughest event I did. I actually gave up on it a few times and thought it was impossible until I realised I should try running mediums on the rear with softs on the front. I felt really stupid not trying that earlier because as soon as I tried it the car felt much better I wasn't losing time and I knew I wouldn't be spinning a lap before I intend to pit.
I got it!!! After 5 min you know if you can catch up or not!! I did it a couple of times finally got to the subaru

Two questions here:

Has anybody gotten dirt on one of their cars, and figured out a way to get rid of it? My 911 RSR looks like I took it off-roading and...that isn't neccissarily a lie...

And the ending movie, there's a second song that plays in it towards the end. What is the name of it?
How did you get dirt????? I did a lot of Rallying and I never got dirt on my car.... its weird are on ps4 pro or the original?

Did a few laps of Willow Springs; ran off track a few times, and thar she was.

Mhmm. I was just commenting on the discussion at hand and not complaining about the game at large. Keeping my expectations reasonable. Cars/Tracks will happen in time I'm sure.

The rest.. well good luck with that. I'm sure they'll be able to just flip a switch, have dynamic time/weather, and still maintain 60 FPS.
