So gents, i’m Giving some thought to purchasing GT Sport (probably at a sale price though) and wondering if you could answer a couple questions for me...

First, i’m mostly interested in a pretty specific mode of use for the game - hotlapping Nurby. Basically I just like filling free time by picking a fun car and trying to beat my own times at The Ring. So i’m wondering if the track model of Nürburgring in GT Sport is good. Better than GT6? How bout the “offline” physics? I’ll be using the DS4 so how’s that? I’ve always got along quite well with the controls in GT games...will that continue to be the case in GT Sport? Basically, if I enjoyed hotlapping the ring in GT6, will I enjoy it even more in GT Sport? By “more” I really only mean will I see some better eye candy, a bit better driving experience maybe and an incrementally improved track model?

Oh, and how much of a tedious dance will I have to perform in order to get some of those fun cars to use?

The simple answer is yes.

I have seen users who have tried DS4 and wheel say that the control is very even.

You really should try Sport mode though :)

Yeah i’ve Done a fair bit of online racing over the years, but I just don’t have the time or energy to commit to it anymore. Just want a simple pick up n play experience that I can blip into and out of at will...

Well, yes you will like it then.

The Circuit Experience and Mission Challenges are good for just jumping on and off, if you want something a bit different from the Nurburgring.

Keep in mind that apart from the circuit experience (which doesn't give you a choice of car) you will still need to get yourself to level 20 before you can access the 'ring.

So you will need to do some work before you can access it.

as for what its like, its the best version in the GT series, its not the best version around however, but if you are DS4 then its most likely the one to go fo.

Man, I find that quite frustrating. I wish devs would acknowledge the reality that some of us don't want to "play the game". Even if it has to be a key that costs a couple bucks in order to get the thing opened up from day one...

How much work is involved in getting to level 20?

And my point is they could have been involved with gameplay instead.
This mentality of a mary sue game development team that can conveniently do everything but choose not to always amuses me. Artists are programmers and gameplay designers and sound designers and playtesters but they do that one thing I don't like and that they're paid for and it ticks me off

Ridiculous, I just found out that the Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 has two different exhaust notes that you heard depending on which track you race.

I raced yesterday on Northern Island on Daily Race B and Nurburgring GP on the FIA cup and the difference of how the car sounded was loud and clear.

I will upload a video tonight showing both.

Northern Isle's BOP makes it where the Gr.3 cars have performance levels beyond what you can reach, which could lead to the different sounding exhaust.

It doesn't really take much effort to get to level 20 to unlock the 'Ring - you're pretty much there once you've done licenses, missions and circuit experience in off line.... which are all well worth doing.

But personally, I much preferred GT6 for hot lapping random road cars on the 'Ring.

There aren't that many road cars in GTS, and for me, for the most part, the ones that are in the game aren't anywhere near as much fun to drive... they all understeer too much, even if you adjust the settings to try and get more rotation.

It does play pretty nicely on a DS4.

The oval BOP Gr3s use special high revving engines that of course sound different depending on the car.

Thanks, I didn't knew that BOP adjustment also changed the engine sound!

I never noticed that, I'm off to do some testing tonight with some other cars then

It is just for the oval thing... All cars have same power and weight, same number of gears and settings except how they look... It is the only occassion as far as I know... This is probbably replacement for Stock Car Racing/NASCAR in GTS...

Cheers...

I don't believe you know how opinions work. :)
:/

Erm. Right. Opinions.

Say what you will, but I'm pretty sure you have no idea how designing a game works.

You can go ahead and make an entire team focus on gameplay, but what of the other elements, such as sound, or researchers in general? There's more to just gameplay when it comes to making a game.

Sure, making someone like a sound engineer focus on gameplay while doing his sound work might sound good... on paper, but why even bother when that person doesn't exactly have experience in making that work, but have proficiency on the areas they're exactly assigned in? They're better off spending all of their given time on what they're assigned to do then doing what other people in the team can do.

Was I ever asking them to take people off sound? No I was specifically talking about the timeline stuff. You took it way out of proportion. And you wouldn't reassign people, you just would hire more for one department in the first place rather than the other. But again, opinions. :)

Perspective? All I can think about is the time it took to make that should have spent on cars and tracks and literally anything else gameplay related. Those little things frustrate me so much because while yes they can be nice additions, it's something that isn't gameplay and I can't see past that when there's already such a lack of content. It becomes glaringly obvious.

And my point is they could have been involved with gameplay instead.

Tell me where I it looks like I implied reassigning, genuinely asking because I didn't think I did. All I talked about was time spent on non-gameplay areas, the timeline stuff in particular. And for some reason in your minds the situation at PD is that they hired people for something and then after development started they decide to move that team over to something else (i.e. reassign)? In this largely hypothetical situation this would be decided before development starts and those timeline people largely wouldn't be hired in the first place, you see what I'm getting at?

But anyway, it is what it is and we can't change that, so this is all woulda coulda shoulda nonsense :)

:gtplanet:

In other words, I have an opinion.
I know, I'll play the opinions card to justify my lack of understanding on the subject, because not liking something is the same as my belief that people at PD can just shift workloads and areas of expertise at will and for free.

After all, this is my opinion.

I didn't pick anything out, I quoted every post I had on the subject. But that's just semantics now. We disagree. Leave it at that, eh?

Okay, now this is just getting weird. Do you not see the three posts of mine that I quoted? Picking something out usually means one specific thing. I posted everything related to the topic so you could actually pick out the part that made you think I implied something. You never actually said what part of my posts it was, but we've digressed a bit now haven't we?

It's not a cop out, it's a realization that it doesn't matter that much to continue. If you want we can go to PM if it truly means a lot to you to get your thoughts out.

My bad, I was speaking of the post itself as opposed to the quotes. It appeared that you referred to one of your quotes. But again, maybe I'm just seeing things.
