On the subject of Gran Turismo merchandise...

I finally managed to get hold of a complete collection of the Gran Turismo Hot Wheels cars! They're pretty spectacularly cool, I think.

I'm actually tempted to wait until the Friday afternoon before I look at any of the info on the game. I've got an exam on the Friday, so I should probably stay away from GTPlanet for a while.... Or maybe I should just leave it open in a tab.... Or maybe I should keep it open on my phone....

 If you take this and that and some other things into account - its the best selling racing game

Edit: Treed :ouch:

That makes sense
What's infamous about it? It's nothing new in the marketing environment.

You must have not seen the PR statements they send out when they lose a month in NPD. Microsoft's PR is gold.

I can't believe I have to say this: do not discuss illegal activities here, or any other part of GTPlanet (PM's included).

WHy does the Forza video say it's the best selling racing franchise? or is that the infamous MS PR doing work?

It's pretty simple, really: Forza is the best-selling realistic driving game franchise this console generation. With three titles under its belt, that isn't surprising!

Other than people having favourites, I don't see why MS' PR folks are singled out. It's their job to present stats in the best way possible: one can't be a good marketer otherwise. It's no different than whoever coined the terms "Standard" and "Premium" when it meant "last-gen" and "this-gen".

Honestly, no. I don't particularly concern myself with any of that as I have no mutual investment in how many units a product has or hasn't moved, or what a company does to spin things to their benefit. It's no different than what any other company does, Sony, PD and Gran Turismo included.

Don't get me wrong they're doing their job impressively well. I was wondering what the fine print is in that case.

A bestseller is usually a product that is on a list of top-selling products. It doesn't have to be #1 in the list, just being included is typically enough to call it a bestseller. So there can be several best selling video game franchises, not just one at the time.
