Likely isn't "In my opinion" It's suggesting he knows something.

Would it help if it read "looks likely"? Because that's how I read it.

It's not a huge stretch. Brands was a new track in GT6, with full weather/time. It seems unlikely PD would put that much work in for one game. If the lone new screenshot from TAS is any indication, Brands is in play here.

I don't see a declaration of fact, so I'm not seeing an issue. Saying "the 2015 R8 LMS is likely to be in the beta" wouldn't be any different.

Any proof?
None, he's just guessing the same as the rest of us, but it doesn't take much imagination to guess that in a game that's supposed to focus on the FIA, that FIA sanctioned tracks will likely be the focus of the game. I can also go out on a limb and guess we'll see Silverstone, Nurburgring GP, Spa etc.

Agreed. I actually am starting to think the "less tracks" than "GT7" statement the FB group admin mentioned in the message may imply GT Sport having no fictional tracks at all.
Wouldnt surprize me as alot of them need to be remade from the ground up to look decent (Trial Mountain, Deep Forest Raceway etc) by todays standards.

"Proof". Just speculation of course. But it seems likely.

IMO the key thing is the FIA certification so including real life FIA tracks is pretty much a given. I've mentioned this before but it also opens up the opportunity for PD to create an original category of FIA certified virtual race tracks. Move back some virtual rockfaces and throw in some runoff areas and tracks like TM or DF could be FIA certified as well. It's certainly something I'd be thinking about if I was PD, but in order for it to have any real meaning, I think it's something that would have to be offered to all gaming franchises otherwise to me it's just a publicity stunt.

The trouble is Gran Turismo SPORT and FIA certification suggests real tracks and real cars but PD troll with make believe VGT's.

It is staggering that there is any interest in this title. The Xbox1 has seen TWO main line Forza titles and what has GT done? An announcement that it exists.

Assetto Corsa really can't come soon enough.

I guess you weren't around at the time, huh?

No, wasn't around here back then, but I don't ever recall feeling there was a major delay between 3 & 4. When GT4 came out, I bought it and barely ever touched GT3 ever again. Heck, I never got around to playing GT5 until late 2012.

Just seems people get wrapped up in some type of vortex and get more and more impatient with each passing title. Like there's some type of entitlement that they should exepct a perfect game every 2-3 years.

No, there's a sense that it would be nice to get a game every three years or so. That's a gamer thing, it's not particularly justified but it is what it is. It's largely informed by the rate at which other devs put games out, particularly Gran Turismo's major competitor. Since GT6 we've seen FM5, FM6 and FH2. But like I said, if you're making a quality product then people will largely forgive long dev times, in retrospect at least.

There's a sense of entitlement that if one pays money for a product, that product should be a quality one. I don't think that's unreasonable. Nobody expects a perfect game, although we'd all like one. None of the GT games have been perfect (GT2 98.2%), but the quality of GT 1 through 4 was a lot higher than GT 5 and 6.

GT5 was buggy as all get out on release, and took nearly a year before it was really in a good state. If you didn't play until 2012, then you won't be aware of what the fuss is about. There was some serious showstopper stuff in there, and it was not a quality product. GT5 Spec 2 is a pretty good game, and is probably a reasonable approximation of the state that GT5 should have released in.

GT6 was incomplete, and took 18 months before all the major features were actually in. These games were not up to the high standard that Polyphony had previously delivered, and were not up to the standard of modern games in general.

Polyphony can do what they like as far as dev cycles and release dates go, but I think that the one thing everyone wants is a quality product. Not perfect, but good.

From GT's facebook :
Q : When is GT Sport do to arrive. Sony announced this was scheduled to arrive early this year. Lol

A : Hi
Jacob, we're not considering GT Sport as a Beta of GT7. GT Sport will be a full stand-alone GT title introducing innovative and never-before-seen game modes that no other driving game on console can feature, thanks to our partnership with the FIA. GT Sport Beta is scheduled for 2016 and so the release of GT Sport. For more information keep your eyes open on the official page. émoticône winkhttp://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/products/

I hope that all these answers on fb mean some news very soon.
This tells me that GT Sport is basically a showcase for these "new" game modes. I'm interested to see what the modes are...

I see that being two different ways to read it.

Either...

A: They are legitimate new modes that haven't been done before

or

B: They're just new to Gran Turismo and they've continued to ignore what the competition has done already.

I'd make a strong push for it being the latter.

I've actually taken it to read that they are very similar modes to what we already know in the genre. The difference is the "thanks to our partnership with the FIA" bit. Which makes it a legitimate claim, if only from a marketing standpoint.

Online racing championships are hardly a new thing, and there's not many ways to reinvent the wheel there!

I would find it more likely they're just bog standard online races/time trials but they're describing them as
never-before-seen because technically, with the fact they're FIA official and such, they are.

EDIT: Beaten by Slip.

Wonder how seriously will the FIA use this? a commercial purpose only? a genuine hunt for talent and a need to have GTS to set the bar for phyics and what not? stay tuned folks

And how are those 2 main titles a good thing ? given the costs and what not. You just spent over 200$ on those, while a single GT game will give you more content for 60$. Just look at GT6 and compare F5/F6.

Dont you mean conpare GT6/F6 to Asetto Corsa? You ask for the cost, right?

I'm going to stop you right there.

Take it to the most recent GT6 vs FM6 comparison thread. Maybe this thread from a GT fan in the FM section. Or the physics discussion thread in the FM section comparing it to other games. Content? Compare the two series' car lineups.

This thread will not be turned into a GT6 vs Forza argument.

So basically, its a retread.

Tire jokes FTW

The FIA is a governing body, they aren't searching for talent, that's done by individual race teams and organizations. As GTAcademy has shown, super duper realistic physics aren't necessary to make the leap from the virtual to the real racing world, what's needed is money and training combined with some innate talent.

Nope. This is not like other games or championship.

The winner will get a award just like real race driver in FIA gala ceremony. So this is pretty big deal

The game will probably release in Nov 2016 and the ceremony usually is in December. So I am not sure how will decide a winner so quickly or may be winner will get the trophy in 2017 ceremony. Either way the winner is probably already decided and may become another lucas who knows :odd:

The beta is reportedly the first season of the championship, that's how.
