Now that event itself wrapped up, i'd like to spend a few words on everything.

The Event itself was a really good idea, after months of silence this was really a refresher and put me in the mood for more of this happening and actually revolving around Gran Turismo. Even the Snapchat thing was pleasurable giving insights on the show and game ( i've even managed to see some cockpit views racing around the desert! Amazing to be honest)

The Game as previously stated is only at 50%. Be it in good or in the bad they sid that the title will release in the first half of November, it showed magnificent UI design and ideas, clever use of ingame resources and please, please. Photomode looks fairly more than promising.

But in depth.

The Graphics gave me a mixed feeling; during the Brands Hatch race i was euphoric most of the time while during the Oval i alternated Man, tf am i watching? moments with wew that flyby was brilliant!.
The GT6 vibe is pretty much there, and that's not much of a compliment. 137 Cars aren't much, but aren't even that many if you think about
  1. there will be dupes ( as stated with VGTs present with BoP applied and not)
  2. they didn't add the GT6 premiums. Yes. They really did. Just when they said that the premiums were "PS4 Ready"
The Tracks felt dull, glacial, lifeless and yet so much interesting. That's quite actually frustrating, i spent most of the Nurburgring race expecting a few showers. The race with the miata looked barely interesting: concrete, asphalt and car. Empty seats and general stillness pervaded the racetracks. Willows Springs actually got my eye with the dirigibles and banners, but it wasn't even showed ingame. I'm waiting for Seattle pics bytheway.

The sound got me even more perplexed.
The bimmer now looks something like a car, and that's a good sign. V8s still need some work, not aggressive enough. It was really appreciated the sound of the turbo coming from both the Evo and Subie, too much of a "tuner" sound actually but that's a step in the right direction.
The Car groupings were just...wrong?
You don't put a 2010's Peugeot against a 2012 audi against a 2025 hyundai. That's silly. The bugatti just needs to be put under the GT3 race spec. The open top volkswgen was racing. Yeah why the open top one and not the latest one? This paragraph might appear too subjective so let's move on.
The general impression is that the build for the show was rushed, full of bugs ( that's why they changed build day by day.) and uninspired in the point of the game: the game itself. Racing appears to be too much of a hassle in comparison of the photomode.
Not to mention those brave guys that for sure gave their best during every race, we see you. It's not easy to race on the ring or any track on 200+ fictional km/h, unless at home. I wasn't even being sarcastic, imagine the pressure of having people watching you do that.
Calm down, it's just a demo!
Painfully. If they'd released the Beta the guys at PD would've sorted out all the problems with the game right in time for September, giving time to the players to get used to the new game and to be "picky" (because let's face it, the driving sim community is one of the pickiest community i've ever seen.) and the release date would just be a confirmation of GT's rule as driving game even on next gen. They even went as far as not implementing the old premiums and "work all the cars from scratch", adding more and more time to spend in recreating already outdated models of cars. They've just added the Ferrari 458 GT2. A six years old car.
But now? A big fat question mark. Almost 2 years of work for this? With a release date of just November? I'm trying as much to not be hateful here, just trying to give out my honest opinion, but to be really honest they appear as in deep sea with production/optimization. E3 is just behind the corner and we know that the E3 is the great equalizer here; will they really make it in time for november? What they'll show at E3? The same old trailer shown 3+ times today?

What do you think? Am i too pessimist or misjudging something?

Looks fantastic! Based on the races it seems like the performance is well balanced between the cars, the graphics got a big boost, the livery editor looks interesting and the HDRI sceneries will make photomode even bigger I guess.

Also, looks like this thread is about to reach 400 pages soon

Plus, the 488 GT3 is out and so is the 570S GT3. No excuses if they want a FIA game

Extra: the safety car and flag stuff was a hoax, happened just twice and i'm well sure it was set up to "simulate" a safety car- flag system, which were clearly absent during the last laps at the ring ( otherwise the race would've been wayy too longer.)

This is from GT page, found on neogaf. Looks so beautiful and I think this is first look of time change

This is purely my guesswork as to why the game might be 50% complete with 6 months to go. If they started on the core stuff (game engine, lighting engine, etc, maybe physics) 3 years ago as soon as GT6 launched (or soon after), it may be that they only started on the "front end" of the game (career structure, graphical "tarting" up, online structure etc) approx 6 months ago. So, perhaps (repeat this is just a guess on my part) this could be what was meant. While it may take 3 years or more to build it up from scratch, the top layer could maybe be planned to be completed in a year?

If that guess is correct, then I think that maybe the core stuff won't change much before release (except more "tarting up" on graphics such as tyre tracks and stuff like that), but the "front end" might still look somewhat different come November.

Either that, or they really did only start their work on the game when they released the track editor thingy for GT6, which I personally think unlikely.

But all that is just my personal opinion and guesswork.

Companies don't work like that. There's employees assigned to each specific job, full time, and there's always job to be done. This means:

1.- PD employees don't switch from making the game engine to then all focusing on making textures (what's lacking), once they are "finished" with the engine. There's a fixed team making the game engine since early 2014 to late 2016, while there's another fixed team making the textures during the same period.

Finished is on quotes because it's your assumption that a work is ever finished. In practice a team never stops working at what they do. For example if the career structure is already 100% made for GT Sport, then I assure you that team is already working on GT7's, instead of being on paid vacation until December.

2.- It's not like the textures team cannot work while the game engine team hasn't finished their core work. They have been working all this time, so that in 1/6 of the time it's impossible they can make 50% of the job. What they can do is finishing specific tracks first (Nurburgring) then going to the next one (Tokyo), but a full game revamp won't happen in six months because there's not enough man power for that. If Tokyo's textures look much nicer at release date then the 'Ring's will look the same.

3.- PD outsources little to no work. Progress cannot just skyrocket from a month to another, because the team remains composed of the same number of people that can only do a specific job. PD cannot hire 100% more staff in a month, either.

Therefore, the 50% thing is pure marketing speak. What we saw is essentially how GT Sport will be at day one, improving on the clearly unfinished tracks (Tokyo) while leaving those finished practically as is ('Ring). A big jump on car count won't happen, big improvements on physics won't either.

No light coming from the front of the car,,,?
Didn't even notice that, actually. There also seems to be a dim spotlight on it as well.

Still, it being a photomode location, all this was probably done just to make the car stand out a bit. Would be hard to use a photolocation that should realistically be pitch black.

Looks like the brake lights are on. And in the trailer it showed how you could position the cars in the photomode locations and turn lights on and off. So maybe in this pic the brake lights were on but the lights were not?

Sadly, that's a "Scape" of the Ring. A photo of the track at night...
Oh, that sucks. I wonder if they include scapes like this from racetrack, if regular replay photomode will even be present :(

It does look really nice, but what's odd is the amount of illumination from what I'm guessing is the moon?
There is a option to add light sources in scapes

As I noted one being over the vehicle. However, I don't think that's the case for the actual back/foreground as well as the sky. Nothing to serious really, just something I noticed.

Huh.

Well look at that, I had just posted about wanting to add light sources in a thread a few weeks ago. More Photomode goodness, then! :D

Kaz shares his thoughts about the race while the camera goes mad.

Kaz says: "The race was a bit rough so maybe they need a little bit more practise before they go out on track."

Well, certainly nicer then what many of us thought

According to Kotaku, Gran Turismo Sport is a spinoff and Gran Turismo 7 is in development alongside Gran Turismo Sport.

No offense, but that place has published so much BS I doubt anything they say is true.

The 570S is a GT4 car, the 650S is the GT3 car.

Not often do you see the game looking way better then the trailer advertising it. Might have been different builds though.

The question is: would be there any open lobby's? And if yes then is there tracks and cars that could work with those type of lobbys?

I know i sound silly but one of the things i fear about GTS is that with what GTS aims for, i afraid that stuff like free run type of lobby's might not exists.

That's also one of my biggest fears at this point... I would like to play online casually, someplace where you can just show cars, some drag races, etc. It's always nice to have that online component of Gran Turismo.

About all that happened today: I'm neither disappointed nor overwhelmed. Some stuff blown me away, other thing brought me back on earth.

Positives:
-Livery Editor
-Photomode
-Graphics in general (keep in mind this is just in a alpha or beta state)
-UI
-LaFerrari (just because I love that car) and of course the overall car selection (although it feels short, hopefully they will make up for it with some DLC's)
-Some of the sounds being improved (MX-5 for example)

Negatives:
-Some glitches and bugs seen in the Livestream and videos
-Annoying tire noise
-Some sounds seem the same or identical to GT6
-Some bits here and there seem unpolished
-The way they gave up on the premium cars from GT6 (some of them looked really good and will be missed...)

Doubts:
-Physics
-Time and weather change
-Physical and mechanical damage
-How balanced will they make the car selection, now that we know there are going to be just 137 cars (how many road cars and race cars, how many of them are VGTs, how many are "fake" race versions of road cars and if those race versions affect the car count or are considered a "version" of the original car, and so on).
-AI
-How the campaign will be, with 117 events
-Car tuning and customization apart from the Livery Editor.
