GT2 was originally supposed to come out in early November of 1999. To even imply that PD has a track record of meeting release dates more often than not, nevermind giving out an obviously false number value to it, is ludicrous.

PD have a whole sound dpt. They aren't going to be sat on their hands for the next 8 months saying job done.
You mean like the exact thing they did when GT6 was first shown off and people made the same criticisms and worries?

But once again, this is why developers rarely show early gameplay, particularly in a playable state.
The game is six months from release, and has (presumably) been in development for several years now. The event was supposedly getting bleeding edge builds daily.

It's not early gameplay.

Guys, looking at screengrabs of Kazunoris presentation, he shows the driver profile pic (with the bio saying Father, has kids etc), is it me or does the driver avatar on the right (white suit) seem a bit fat? Have they mentioned changing the weight/height of our virtual selves in GTS?

PD have a whole sound dpt. They aren't going to be sat on their hands for the next 8 months saying job done. With a smaller car count there should be e wry expectation the soundscape and moving will be improved. Of course we have to wait until the final release for confirmation.

Yeah, I'd expect the environmental sound aspects to improve, but that's mainly down to artists marking out the areas etc and then a programmer just enables the reverb or whatever. Not a huge task and a fairly predictable one timewise, so gets scheduled late in the project. The sound dept. could well be kept busy making the same slight improvements, as were heard on the demo'ed cars, to the rest of them. As you say, time will tell on that, but I think a massive leap seems unlikely.

Don't know if this has been discussed yet, but does anyone know if performance customization will be a feature in the game?

It probably won't be for some of the higher tier cars, as it will be necessary to fix them to a certain PP level for FIA purposes. However, I am hoping that some of the road cars will feature at least the performance customization features which we got in GT6. That, combined with the new livery editor should make GT Sport a lot of fun in terms of custom car builds :)

I think there will only be certain GR.x - upgrades for the normal cars. Tuning will be in I think but not buying all kinds of different parts. Could be wrong though.

Nice models:

They are alive!

The 22 figure only refers to countries participating in the FIA Gran Turismo Digital License programme, not the Nations or Manufacturer Cups.

Which makes the original claim ("consolidated racing league system on a global scale") all the less impressive: I can race people globally now in nearly any racing game. A token championship title and trophy change very little here.

There are some genuinely interesting things coming out of PD's camp. That's not one of them, for me anyway.

When other games were compared to GT6 it was said it wasn't fair because GT6 had dynamic time and weather and those didn't. Now the shoe is on the other foot and apparently it's now a fair comparison. Figures.

And just this morning in this thread, someone was insisting that the PS4 simply wasn't powerful enough (?) to do stuff any better than the PS3 (!?) could do.

So what have they been doing the last three years? It really is the GT6 demo and "placeholders" all over again.

I can point you to footage of the Bugatti Veyron and Audi R18 with 100% accurate engine sounds. You can argue about sound levels, but the sound is accurate.

I can also point to the Ferrari 458, again this is accurate, but lacks transmission sounds.Which Incidentally is often a generic sound applied to all cars in the likes of PCars. There's also footage of a Corvette race car. Despite the livery, this isn't the factory GTE car, it looks like a GT Vision type creation. The engine sounds like a Corvette motor with supercharger, so I'm guessing this is based on the road car. The real GTE race car has a normally aspirated 5.5l engine with a more base note.

When talking about potential improvenents, we need to start with an accurate representation of what we have today. The "it just looks/sounds" like GT6 is clearly inaccurate after seeing more recent, better quality builds.

I still think that we will have "dynamic" time change to some extent. In one of the special events from the Beta UI video, we could see a Nurburgring 24 Hour race. Maybe it will be for select events, I'm not sure. Overall it is kinda disappointing if this is true but I will see what happens when the game is released.

And just this morning in this thread, someone was insisting that the PS4 simply wasn't powerful enough (?) to do stuff any better than the PS3 (!?) could do.

I can't wait to see all the people that get dizzy from pulling a 180 on their stance about dynamic time and weather in other games too quickly.

This has got me a bit worried in regards to the safety rating.

So if someone takes you out and it's not your fault your safety rating will drop because a computer can't tell whose fault it is so you both get pinged. That's really going to work in todays online world.
I am guessing this by now has been point out a million times but this is how iracing works. It doesnt totally stop the idiots but its better than nothing.

I'm sure this is true, but honestly, who enter events just to get a taking part medal, or a 'top 64000' award or whatever? It's not a great incentive for me, just like the GT Academy Trials. They were just something to do, nothing more, to me.

Well yes, I'm not writing it off totally, that would be foolish at this stage, but as of right now I've not seen anything to really pique my personal interests. We all want and get different things out of these games, for some 1 car and 1 track is enough to keep them interested for days, some people can drive thousands of laps of Tsukuba testing cars, some can repeat the same career events over and over. For others, it just doesn't do it. Same with online, for some it was a revolution in gaming, for others, like me, it's just not for them, for many reasons.
I get what you are saying, but for people like me who actually place pretty high I stuff like this it is very cool.

Someone know Portuguese ?
Looks like he talks about the game from minute 32.

Nothing new realy, only says that the game is all about the e-sport, and that that is the future of video games, and that Miguel Faisca won the Gt Academy and is working for Nissan at London.
He mention the new traks, (and then says that the game gonna have 140 tracks:lol:) the new photomode and nothing more.
I don´t take him verry seriously, he have a Portuguese youtube game chanel kids oriented, with a verry chilldish approach.
Oh, and he did entreview me on a Gt Academy live event back in 2014 :embarrassed:

We're heading down the "PS4 can't do dynamic time and weather, it's not PDs fault" route, I can feel it.

:)

Dynamic weather is a game changer if done well, and so, so important. I've been spoiled by Driveclub in that sense... Really disappointed PD can't make this work.
