No wonder why Driveclub runs only in 30 fps, because they put so much I candy stuff basically. But enough for that!
My general thoughts about driving games is that, that mostly driving games like forza, AC etc etc... are only arcade games, I'm played them all, and I can feel that. just one game is really for professionals and it's GT. It feels realistic to play, the physics are always amazing to me. They (PD), put so much effort on details. I love it, and I will always love Gt series, because thats the only one driving game that inspires me to race in real life! Long live GT! Peace!
Sorry, AC is an arcade game?

Did you actually say that!

hmm new cars mercedes bmw :)

Given the hit they gave the frame rate in GT5 I would be inclined to agree, but when they are done without that hit (DC and PCars) then it makes a huge difference. While I would not consider it a deal breaker (its not for AC), it is a tick in the negative column.

My main complain is about game-play, how it was implemented in such way that it were boring to me. I think it's only for me :)

Really?

I've seen it done perfectly well in a good number of PS4 titles, in both racing and non-racing titles.

1080p - 60fps?

PCars?
Only DOOM I can think of. And it's amazing.

It introduced FPS problems, tearing, and weird slow motion effects around some turns. Xbox was horrible, PS4 was slightly better.

While that may be true to some extent, you also have to take in account the 20+ cars on track with full damage and real time dynamic weather with time adn physics changes. Also, not a bad efort for their first try while porting it from a pc version eh? :)

I was late to respond to the news that dynamic weather and time will not be in GTS, rather make it the same as FM6's fixed weather/time layouts. I'm disappointed as well, they could have just kept dynamic time and make the weather conditions different to each course variation. I love to go on free drives at daybreak, such a comfy, melancholic hobby for me to do. Free drive just won't ever be the same again.

Doom uses use a dynamic resolution it's mostly 1080p but it does drop below that mark when stress levels are high.

I'm definitely on the fence about the situation. Pcars failed pretty bad in that department, but that can likely just boil down to the devs priorities. AC is just around the corner, so I'm hopeful that they can show everyone how to get it done.
AC will not have weather by all accounts, but it should be noted that AI have the same physics as yourself which most racers do not have. This obviously is taxing.

It is going to be seriously hard to take any of your posts seriously or view them as objective from here on in. This has got to be the funniest post I've seen on gtp for a good while. Also regarding Driveclub having great graphics because its only 30fps, luckily for us we get see to DriveclubVR so we can directly compare and I look forward to the excuses if DriveclubVR shows up GTSVR.

Have they fixed the frame rate problems in the console versions of PCars recently? Last time I checked, the PS4 version ran in the ballpark of 40fps under heavy rain even after a couple of patches, while the XBone version ran even worse.

They had the tech in place, but the tech didn't work. 50-60? I could have sworn there's been videos where it dropped way lower than that. The biggest framerate problems where not singled to the ToD, you're correct. It was a multitude of things combined that did. Like the combination of many high poly beautifully rendered vehicles, Ai, Physics, Tod, and Weather. It seems that they choose to remove dynamic instances, as that was likely what hindered the game the most. Removing situations that cause the game to not be functionally sound is a step forward. Keeping something in that is only going to cause problems is a step backwards, and is exactly what their problem has been in the past.

Like I said, if you followed the current racing games on the market, you'd be able to see what is and isn't capable so far. Pcars has it, you're right, but it was an absolute crap fest and caused a lot of problems. AC has yet to be seen on console, so we can't use that to judge.

pCars framerate dropping was due to overly large number of cars on screen and the weather system having to render a bunch of 2D alpha transparencies. The framerate was nearly perfect on tracks set to only dynamic time of day. The only time you ever really saw massive framerate drops in GT5&6 are due to those same reasons, massive alpha particles that are too expensive for the GPU to render on the dirt tracks, when there's tons of smoke in the game, or from rain mist kicking up from the tires, on top of that it was rendered at a native 1440x1080p res and never dipped to low 30fps. This was running on a console that came out 10 years ago... You really think the PS4 isn't capable of the same features while maintaining stable fps on much more powerful hardware 10 years later?

I know but it's tech marvel even without dynamic res. Lighting, bokeh DOF, motion blur, especially AA is ridiculous. And PS4 stays 1080p60 most of the time.

And who said that PD can't use dynamic res too?

I'm sensitive to frame rate drops and its has improved significantly. Was actually in a race (GT4's at Brands Hatch) with with transition from clear to rain and fog at sunset and the frame rate fluctuations were minimal.

Sorry but this simply isn't true. GT5 could drop frame rate to the 30's without weather, ToD or Alpha being a factor, you simply had to be racing in a pack from the cockpit view.

The Digital Foundry frame rate analysis videos have been posted on here countless time and quite clearly show it.

That Digital Foundry video where it shows low 30s is with weather and tons of alpha particles from multiples cars on screen...

My guess is vr needs 1080p maybe if vr is a separate mode they could implement a dynamic resolution system.

Boy howdy, this thread exploded since I finally noticed those new posts from that event.

I'm seriously stoked after seeing those videos. Sure they got taken down, but at least we got an idea of what to expect. And it's REALLY NICE to hear...almost proper engine sounds. They still need work, but hey the game's only halfway there so who knows how PD's gonna take care of that. I'm just hoping they do :P Also I am HAPPY for a livery editor finally! Building up my own style of car was like the only reason Need for Speed lasted as long as it did for me, but now I get that in GT too?! I'm game.

This kinda reminds me of GT3 again, as far as limited cars compared to the last game but the graphics are another dramatic step up. Sure 130 ain't much, but I can live with that, it's just a glorified prologue with a focus for online racing. And I doubt my AE86 will be in the game, but again I'm fine with it until GT7.

My only beef is I now have to buy a G29 along with a VR helmet by November lol.
