Wait I just read that they aren't even doing dynamic time of day (thought it was weather only), are you kidding me? what? it's 2016

I don't quite understand your position. No game sells as much as a install base. (Unless we talk about last gen COD or something)

The context was that a bad GT game sells still much better than the best Forza. And thats why 5m sold copies on a base of 40M consoles would be an disappointment in my eyes.

My guess is vr needs 1080p maybe if vr is a separate mode they could implement a dynamic resolution system.

Since we are talking about extreme and short-time situations dynamic resolution is much better solution. Less distracting at least. Better than sudden change of car/shadow/track LOD.

That Digital Foundry video where it shows low 30s is with weather and tons of alpha particles from multiples cars on screen...
Yes and the same one that shows it constantly changing between 40 and the high 50's without any of those things and using bumper cam.

As such a claim that you only see massive frame rate drops with Alpha, etc is simply not true, unless you class a 33% drop to not be massive.

My only beef is I now have to buy a G29 along with a VR helmet by November lol.

Y'know, given PD's propensity for expensive, high-quality tie-in accessories, I think they'd be missing an opportunity to not have a VR-equipped racing helmet, complete with in-built headphones. It's too good to pass up! :D

No wonder why Driveclub runs only in 30 fps, because they put so much I candy stuff basically. But enough for that!
My general thoughts about driving games is that, that mostly driving games like forza, AC etc etc... are only arcade games, I'm played them all, and I can feel that. just one game is really for professionals and it's GT. It feels realistic to play, the physics are always amazing to me. They (PD), put so much effort on details. I love it, and I will always love Gt series, because thats the only one driving game that inspires me to race in real life! Long live GT! Peace!
Credibility gone!

In my book last gen GT games were to much to handle for the PS3. They maxed the console right away on GTHD and had to tone down basicly everything.

But they didn't tone everything down at all, they threw more stuff at it for GT6?

Honestly, they need to explain what have they been doing the past 3 years. If this is the type of progress we can expect on an "easy to develop for console" than you either need to outsource or expand, this is not even close to good enough.

Back during GT5's long gestation period, people liked to point to GT PSP as the scapegoat-du-jour. We don't have that this time. Though I imagine all would be forgiven if it's eventually revealed that GT7 is coming very shortly behind GTS – like, no more than a year out – with all the PS3 Premium content added back in plus more.

Unfortunately, that seems unlikely, given the infrastructure of GTS. It'd be shooting their championships in the foot if they released a game so soon after, with – I assume – the same basic premise baked in alongside the more traditional GT experience. Unless they keep all the FIA stuff isolated to GTS, which puts them in the awkward situation of supporting two games in tandem.

Honestly, I'm not sure what the plan is. This is the biggest change to the franchise since it started.

It definitely doesn't constantly change from 40 to 50 on non-weather and dirt tracks, especially with that Madrid track you screencapped. It stays pretty much between 50-60fps most of the time outside of scenes with the alpha transparencies.

Yes they did, one example is 3D see through wheels not present in full GT games and texture quality too. There is an comparison somewhere but I'm too lazy to look for it ;)

and the God speaks. lol
Greatbee, I've said this a number of times in the past, there's none so blind as those who don't wish to see. You are fully entitled to your opinions, however, when your opinions differ to what 99.9% of the populous believes, your opinions are not going to hold much sway. So don't be surprised if other people do not take your opinions seriously.

Your the one who made a rather outlandish claim and has so far failed to back it up.

Your also the one who seems to believe that the AUP is optional. It isn't.
Ill never choose AC over GT. Just never. I don't like the lightning, I don't like the car models, they look plastic. Forza also look plastic to me. You just can laugh AC fans. but I'm just old GT pioneer 👍

Yep you've got a point here, this isn't the same as having a Prolouge which you can dump later. The problem is while it is fine doing a motorsport game with few-ish cars and tracks, neglecting damage, collisions, sounds, dynamic TOD and dynamic weather it kind of defeats the purpose, I'm honestly very confused as to what they're trying to accomplish here.

We also still have no idea if the netcode is any good, if they mess that up like Driveclub then yikes.

Ok than Im that guy who dont follow in steps what others think and do.

Most of us are just racing game fans. We don't have the need to 'choose' one over the other. We try and play them all and form opinions of them all based on what we experience in all the others.

pCars framerate dropping was due to overly large number of cars on screen and the weather system having to render a bunch of 2D alpha transparencies. The framerate was nearly perfect on tracks set to only dynamic time of day. The only time you ever really saw massive framerate drops in GT5&6 are due to those same reasons, massive alpha particles that are too expensive for the GPU to render on the dirt tracks, when there's tons of smoke in the game, or from rain mist kicking up from the tires, on top of that it was rendered at a native 1440x1080p res and never dipped to low 30fps. This was running on a console that came out 10 years ago... You really think the PS4 isn't capable of the same features while maintaining stable fps on much more powerful hardware 10 years later?
The instance I was describing all happened on one race, that didn't have that many cars in comparison to the full amount allowed. However, that was on the Xbox version, which was just bad.

On paper, it sure does sound like it should be possible. However, I'm just going by recent happenings in the genre as well as the fact that they(PD) are removing it for some unknown reason this time around for "quality", and it's not filling me with much hope.

So.....did the facebook guy already check back in? ...wonder what he is up to these days.

💡

Translator-San running around in Germany somewhere wearing a t-shirt #IamTheFacebookGuy! Is he?
Wonder the same. Awaiting an important response. If he's the facebook guy it wouldn't surprise me, and if he is it helps my case 110%. :D
