I'd go further and say that your average quick match race is probably dirtier than any AI in a modern game. And at least AI is somewhat predictable even when they do dumb things, online you never know when someone is going to turn into a slavering moron and decide to take you out.

While I like racing online, there's a lot of times I simply don't want to deal with the BS that comes along with it, and so end up either in practise sessions or offline. Good AI is great in those situations, because it's far more enjoyable and useful to practise on a live track than it is just hotlapping by yourself. For me anyway. I've largely mastered car control on an empty track but I can always use more practise using my racecraft.
But unpredictability is what makes motorsport motorsport. Which then leads me to another thing - GT Sport is called GT Sport because it's motorsport focused and therefore PD want to replicate real-life racing with real people in a virtual environment.

Yes and no. There's a certain level of unpredictability that is exciting and entertaining, and then there's the people who think Pastor Maldonado was the cleanest driver they ever saw.

Let's be honest, most of the time quick match isn't unpredictable. It's a bar brawl with cars. There has to be a certain levels of rules and respect or a race is no longer about who is fastest.

Which then leads me to another thing - GT Sport is called GT Sport because it's motorsport focused and therefore PD want to replicate real-life racing with real people in a virtual environment.

One could also suggest that replicating real-life racing for real people in a virtual environment is important. Change a word and it's all about the experience for the player, not who is on the other end of the cable.

Personally, I think it should be both. A game like GT Sport should provide an excellent online service and a competent single player experience. If Polyphony's going to cut AI all together then that's their decision, although I think it would be a mistake. But if they're going to have it there, I think it should be at least minimally competent to perform the function of AI in racing games: simulating the experience of driving with real players. Preferably the experience of driving with real players who aren't window lickers.

But unpredictability is what makes motorsport motorsport.

There's a difference between the unpredictability of what drivers will do (along with reliability or mechanical failure or even weather) in Real life and the Unpredictability of whether you are racing online against a fair person or some jackass that thinks he has to win the race in Turn 1, on lap 1 of a 10 lap race.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up but since The FIA is going to be giving digital licenses will they also be revoking them if people race like 🤬🤬 in GTS?

Yes, but that still doesn't justify neglecting the offline part of your game if you still which to include it. If i'm not mistaken people started complaining about the AI when GT2 didn't have improvements over 1, so that's 17 years already which makes these fan complaints older than this forum even.

:P

It's a 2nd gen MX5 that is complimented even today. Stop being a hater. Just ignore what can be ignored. It is bad to your personality. ;)

I do ignore it, never say it out loud, I just wanted to now to show a contrast in what I feel, that I actually like the new one, and will enjoy racing it in GTS. :)

I hope for Gran Turismo 7 there's a larger focus on open wheels just like how GT6 had a larger focus on karting. Doubt that will happen though.

Lots of things not seen, lots of things we have seen. I don't take anything as final until I get the game. That should apply to both positive and negative aspects. Those complaining about the ai's speed and those defending it. Nothing is final yet. We had this runaround with the graphics where everyone jumped on the bandwagon one way or the other when we saw those awful trees at the Nurburgring.
Final or not, they are confident in what they showed obviously, which should lead us to believe what we saw we can atleast expect so far. We can judge off what we saw now, it doesn't matter if it's final or not, and when the final product hits, we can reassess our judgement depending on what has or hasn't changed.

Not naming anyone specifically but some "so called" moderators here really shouldn't be...moderators.
Seems like the 'authority' stick has really taken a front row seat.
 You might as well just name names because this post isn't going to come across any different regardless of the fact.

Lol you would think there's a bunch of females with pms in this thread
Rude.

So far we haven't seen any open wheelers. Lot of cars left to reveal though.

Looking forward to viewing the Japanese event in 2 days time.
And can't wait for E3.

On a less happier note, all PSVR pre-orders are taken for first shipment here in Oz. :(
Looks like I'll have to suck it up and wait 'till 2nd shipment early 2016.

I'm not quite sure what you mean here. Do you mean the "so called" mini mods who aren't mods but think they are, or do you mean the actual mods who are actually mods?

Note to Kaz - we don't want to be able to pass all the cars in one or two laps, there's no fun in that. We want to have to actually race them and fight for the positions - that is where the enjoyment is. Please at least make the 'professional' option have real pace - it can't be that hard to make them faster if nothing else.
GT's AI is definitely capable of expert lap times. Look at B-spec. You're pressing a few buttons that say "go faster" and "overtake" a few times to turn a standard, slow GT AI into something that goes like an average fast human. It doesn't need anyone to press those buttons for it, it could do it on its own.

The problem is in PD's fundamental beliefs. It's the same everywhere else that we feel like there is no improvement. They've got one of the most advanced teams in the world and massive resources to create this game, they can do anything. Aside from labor-intensive content inclusion, they will do exactly what they want to do. The AI drives slowly and behaves as it does because they believe it is the best way.

GT games have a sort of bland uniformity to them, a very reliable quality level. Everywhere we find bewildering shortcomings, I believe this GT quality check is the culprit.

For AI, surely they experiment with more human-like AI. Kaz has stated before about other features like damage, that unless it can be perfect he'd rather leave it out. I imagine that the experience rendered with human-like AI didn't sit well with them, and they will opt to continue with the classic, blind (but mostly predictable) GT AI until something comes along to change their minds.

It's gonna be the same story everywhere - sound, damage, tuning, livery editor (prepare to be underwhelmed) ... they'll never go all-out and risk something seeming half-baked. They will always prefer to ship something bland but perfectly executed vs. but sketchy or unnatural. And it will always have to add value in their eyes.

Anyhow, none of this is an excuse for PD. I am no less frustrated than anyone else at potentially getting more of the same. I tell myself that they mean well and try not to get too mad about it  ...but if the Trial Mountain last corner shortcut isn't blocked I will flip my 🤬

Yeah but it would be great if I did.

That part is simple, I'll just tell you.

You have actual intelligence to race against. In case you have missed it, that is the whole focus of this release and why "Sport" comes after GT and not "7".
Oh man I hope this is satire because if it's not you would fit right in.... in North Korea! People have genuine concerns from what we have seen! This is not a launch title! I am getting more confused by what it actually is with every update we hear! The most important question is who asked for this? Most people just wanted a GT7 which corrected the mistakes in the past. Hell a PS4 GT4 would of been acceptable for me! How much money has this studio made and how backwards have they gone? How is that even possible?

May i ask you whats better in GT4 than in GT5 or GT6? I never understood that people say GT4 is way better than the PS3 titles.

In my opinion GT5 was a great evolvement of GT4 and so was GT6 to GT5.

If anyone asked GT Facebook guy, he answered ~12 hours ago.

Interesting, I asked why they asked GTP to take down all gameplay footage 2 weeks ago when it happened, got no answer.

Career, manufacturer races, consistent quality, much better car list for its time, track variety/better original tracks, etc. Cool stuff that didn't return like stock wheel swaps. Even details like shifting behaviour were much better, not as artificial as it's been ever since GT5P.

For the times, GT4 was an overwhelming game that was full of pleasant little details.

It was downright strange the different people I knew who were completely obsessed with that game. Gamer types who weren't into cars, non-gamer types who weren't into cars  I was dumbfounded.

Heh... All I have ever done here is take flack since this site cannibalized the membership of granturismo.com, I wouldnt feel this was GTP without it. The membership here needs a good kicking. PD release a "sport" game and you all do nothing but complain about the lack of non sport features. Why not go to an Uncharted thread and complain about the lack of race cars?

Its simple. If you don't like racing then don't buy this racing game. Just go away and stop complaining about this racing game not being something it's not. OR switch your complaints to real issues. Like there still being no transmission sounds, or no tyre marks or marbles or many of the things this game is lacking in. Just don't complain that it's not my little pony or something else not related. It's not meant to be.

Let me get this straight. So your idea of giving the membership a "good kicking" is by making yourself sound even more selfish than the ones complaining. Yeah, you sure showed us.

Yeah but it would be great if I did.

Thank God that isn't the case. A forum ran under your type of attitude wouldn't be a successful one.
