I don't get it. "I hope everyone has the opportunity to experience first-hand the yet-to-be revealed cutting edge experiences that will be achieved by GT Sport". Does this sentence actually mean there's some new features, like news page says? I thought it's just something like more stable fps and other improvements.

May be it is the PSVR support that will be shown or be playable next month like DC VR

Well, guess I'm gonna dump the money saved for GTSport on DiRT Rally for now. Now I need to edit the script for a few vids.

Just shut up and make the damn game.

I had to

Here comes the needless criticism and hate now.

Well, I can't say that I'm surprised about the delay. Though to be fair, maybe it could mean a less buggy release than what was in GT6. Anyway, it makes me glad I didn't buy a PS4 yet.

What I'd like to see, though unlikely

  • Game is delayed to May 2017
  • Name is Changed to Gran Turismo 7 Sport
  • Proper single player car collecting campaign is added in addition to all the Sport events
  • About 300 cars are added pushing the number to 450 (as rumored)
  • Some more tracks are added

Might actually be worth $60 then

Sony would have wanted this to release this year so bad after having no big exclusives last year during the holidays so I'm betting on a big delay, the game sadly has been getting negative previews and for good reason.

Something doesn't add up though what has a studio of PD's size been doing all this time?

Looks like I'm back in the same situation I had with PCARS when it delayed around 2 or 3 times, and Assetto Corsa when it got delayed twice. I would like to hope that maybe a significant amount of content would be added to GT Sport with this delay, but with PCARS having a lot of bugs and AC lacking basic features after their delays, I doubt that will happen with GT Sport.

Kunos is a team of 30 people, SMS is a team of 120 and PCars is a game funded by crowdfounding and Polyphony is a team of 200 people with the support of one of the most powerfull multinational in the market.

There are different levels of lazyness or bad organization between them.

Unless Polyphony has decided to start outsourcing (which is very unlikely), I bet this kind of thing won't happen. I know that you said it's unlikely, but I felt that I should have pointed this out.

Yeah, will be interesting to see what they show, if anything at all, now...

Not sure it would be a wise idea to walk on stage and say "Check out how awesome this game is.....that we just delayed a week ago".

I figure instead we're going to have even more quiet and then a 're-launch' of the promo run.

Kaz talked about GT Sport eventually getting "4-500 cars" here

300 more after a hypothetical 6 month delay is probably expecting too much, but it wouldnt surprise me if the car count gets a significant boost after this delay. Thats certainly one thing they can do to lift spirits and make people think the delay was worth it. And I dont really trust PD on why the car count is so low to begin with. I doubt they are remodeling all the cars from scratch. I just think its taking them some time to update all the cars to work with the livery editor, damage, along with some polishing. While other cars (Japanese Kei cars for one) simply arent needed in a GT Sport type game.

Just to cheer up, maybe it will come in January or February. Surely not going to happen but what can't be possible....

I think this thing needs a 6 month delay. Completely missing features like a career mode needed to be added back in. Private lobbies need to be ready and working day 1 and so on. 3 years into the PS4's life for an expanded Prologue isnt a good look. They just need to go all out and make this a real GT game. I think they'll be better off for it.

This is exactly what I think is going to happen. GT needs to have a car collecting campaign. Keep everything else Sport is doing but don't take away a staple like that.

Prior to the delay, I believed the "Seasonal Races" would be returning for Sport and serve as a campaign of sorts. It can still happen but something without the internet is required in my eyes.

True, but delays are pretty commonplace in the gaming industry no matter what size the teams are. I think for AC's case, the delays weren't that bad since the game was released in 2016, and it doesn't suffer from that many issues outside of some frame rate drops and screen tearing.

Actually what I said is just to cheer things up, nothing serious about it. But I agree that they need spend more time with the development, even though the current build already looks good in my opinion, but it's not going to make other people satisfied because the lack of content and some technical flaws

There will be four Forza this gen games on the market, and not a single GT what a Joke!

Forza games are released every 2years but only since Forza6 they had night racing and some decent tracks. Forza5 was just a cash in nothing more so effectively Forza6 was released at 4yrs time. GT6 was released in 2013 and now with GTS delayed to 2017 it is going to be 4yrs for them also. Car count Forza might be ahead but in other areas GTS will be better. They would achieve more than Forza6 in same time period

I love GT, but I play other games and gtsport wasn't even a preorder for me, yet. I think anyone who looks at most the recent racing games will see there's been delays. So when there's a new release date and more info, then I might preorder it. Mostly I'm interested in knowing what the features are that are yet to be seen. This could actually be a good thing.

Calling BS on that whole post. Forza 5 was a complete rework, something PD has not proved they're capable of. Content was what you would've expected if you pull your head from your rear. What would PD's car and track count be if they dumped everything from the previous gen in the same time frame? We don't know because they haven't done it yet. PD couldn't even get a demo out in the time T10 has released a few games.

But Horizon and Motorsport are made by different devs though. GT is only made by one.

Polyphony could do the same if they wanted. Hell, Sony had Evolution who were more than capable of making a more casual spinoff of the Gran Turismo formula. But no, let's fire them instead because they released a bad game and worked their arses off to make it amazing.

If Polyphony had put the same level of post-release support into GT6 that Evo put into Driveclub, the game would probably still be competitive with the current gen games. But instead GT6 is probably the worst of all the GT games.

First you have to have something to cash in mate! Forza does make progress, GT does not even come out ;)

Think of the unthinkable and think about this: Imagine PD would add loads of new cars to the game (e.g. like up to GT standards, at least 700-800 cars), even more tracks and the single player campaign you mentioned and they are going to call it Gran Turismo 7.

This is meant to be somewhat sarcastic or ironic, but hey, as the guy in the picture says: a man can dream. It would certainly be pretty awesome if it happens though.

Ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha!

Why is it that whenever PD announces a delay, it's "**** YOU PD YOU'RE A BUNCH OF SCRUBS KYS" but when another dev does the same, it's, "darn it, but thanks for letting us know"?

Double-standard BS.

Delays happen, sure, but I think the biggest downer on this is how far along into the console cycle we are. You can run off a huge list of games delayed this gen but most of them are now released, many have been for some time. PD on the other hand have so far released nothing and are still delaying 3 years in. That is the big kick in the teeth.

If they released *something* within the first 18 months and were now delaying their next game, people would be more understanding. Or if they had set a release date for 2014 and were just now releasing it like Uncharted, annoying, but acceptable. But going all this time with nothing and still requiring delays into 2017, seems crazy. Every single other first party studio has now released something on PS4 as per my post in the other thread.

The fact they claimed this hardware was like a blank canvas and really easy to work with in comparison to the last console makes it all the more mind boggling.

Just imagine if GTS gets delayed as far as November 2017. That would make it the same time from console launch to release as GT5, and that's without a PSP game and Prologue in between, all on a 'hard to develop for' console.

That is simply not true and you know it. You're being extremely selective.
