This is the case for every track in chase cam since GT5 I'd say.

I'm really not a fan of the way they use such a static POV, I remember there was briefly a dynamic alternative in GT5 that was then patched out after the screen-tearing went through the roof.
I never used chase cam so wasn't aware. or i simply cant remember now, but i remember Le Sarthe in cockpit view being really terrible. It was like driving during a 7.9 earthquake.
Stop being ignorant.
Wow haha, someone doesn't want to hear a bad word about their baby.

The sounds could really use some transmission whine, they're really loud in a GT3 car

Yeah good point, but you also may have to consider the microphone on that tiny camera (GoPro?) probably isn't picking up the whole frequency range, losing a lot of bottom end. Maybe the GoPro tie-in involves simulating the sound engine through the GoPro mic?

Also, those bare trees at the nurb in that video made me think - do any games have not only time/weather change, but seasonal changes?

:)

We are not only talking about the trailer but also PD's appearance on the show. I really hasn't got anything to do with being ignorant and besides you don't tell me what to do.

PD's appearance is also being dictated by production and marketing schedule.
Yes it is ignorance. The game does not even have a detailed release date for next year. They aren't going spill out on details of modes that are works in progress or to which only small info can be given at this point in time.

Really? Because they briefly mentioned modes at the initial reveal over a year ago, and talked a fair bit about them and other gameplay features at the London event in May. It's now been half a year: presumably, we should know more about the game after six months.

There was nothing ignorant about @doblocruiser's post.

I guess you haven't seen Dev roadmaps then?

It's pretty normal nowadays for developers to write down exactly what they working on and what we can expect from the full game. Absolutely no reason to solely focus on pretty pictures for 4 years, unless of course there isn't much else to show for it after all that time.

Samus is correct. You were referring to pCARS being a hot mess of a game on release. GT5 wasn't quite as bad, but 1.01 was a pretty hot mess. It was barely even comparable to what the game ended up being after Spec 2.

While a lot of people bought it purely on the fact that it was Gran Turismo and they'd been waiting for ages (and GT5P was pretty awesome), I think the quality of GT5 at release probably dampened the spirits of many.

And the release of GT6 didn't exactly do much to counter that. It wasn't broken, but there wasn't much there to break either. It took a long time before the game was fully featured with all it claimed to contain, and I think that probably disappointed people too.

I wouldn't blame people at all for being incredibly wary of a day 1 release by Polyphony, purely based on their last two games.

I was referring to how outside of Gran Turismo and Forza, we don't have anything but Kick-starter (Project Cars) and Underfunded (Assetto Corsa) for console sim racing. I misunderstood what you were saying.

Agreed. GT5 and GT6 made some serious mistakes with how they handled the releases. I have no problem with updates every month following launch but touted features should never take a year to come out.

I think PDI should take the route Bethesda did with Fallout 4. Say nothing until it's ready and once it's done, announce it and then release it 3-6 months later complete minus Season Pass options.

Either pCars or AC (can't remember) lets you select year, month and day before you race. Not that it is functional, though. :P

It's about time I played a new high-budget racing game. Project CARS is good but flawed and Assetto Corsa is quite simply boring - neither studio has a lot of money, and it very much shows in the presentation. Yes, GT may be behind in the physics department but almost every other aspect of the game is done right (apart from a proper career mode and, as some may argue, sounds). It may seem like an extraordinary claim but presentation matters to me. PD never disappoints here - each of their games feel solid, even though they may be missing a few features. You can tell that it's a high-budget game just by looking at it. I like that premium feel, especially when AC and PCars seem quite tacky in comparison.

Behind in physics, sounds, lacks a career mode and missing a few features. Sounds like a real high budget racing game:lol: Good thing it isn't flawed like PCars and AC;)

I'll admit it, the execution is rather poor. But I got more enjoyment out of GT6 than Project Cars and Assetto Corsa... GT is my pride and joy @Johnnypenso. Still, I gather that my argument is invalid.

1- The images of the trailer are NOT the actual gameplay
2- How the **** you can surpass reality??!

With you on this.
Makes a huge difference, the presentation.

PCars makes me feel dirty, AC is cringey. Dirt Rally is too clinical. Even DC has a bit of a budget title feel...

There is, at the very least, room for PD's super slick approach in the genre.

Not to challenge what you say, but you bought up what I think tends to be a problem with Sim Racing's appeal to the general public (and something that really can be applied to most if not all of the sims): They are, for the most part, too clinical. In fact, I think that's exactly why the PSX trailer for GTS was unexciting: It was , as spectacular as the graphics looked, just too clinical. The devs overall seem so intent on all the details and doing this thing and doing that thing, it almost feels like the genre itself has completely forgotten the part about fun.

Agreed, and I know many will freak out about this, but I don't think Forza Horizon is the answer either.

You can have a fun racing game without being as gamey/arcadey as that.

As @CLowndes888 said, simply being a high budget, very slick racing game with best in class visuals is probably enough for me (PS4 owner here).

lol, GT is also the epitome of boring. I remember when people use to tell me how boring GT was (this was even before GT5) and i could see what they meant, though i wasn't bored by it because i love racing games. But damn GT5\6 bored the hell out of me. Online on GT5 with my mates was great fun though. Though i agree presentation is important i dont see why it really matters if it's wrapped over something like GT6, I'm not gonna see the presentation much if the game is a pile of crap.

it's all fluff, yes it's nice to yave it but game play should come first then work down. I'd rather have ACs low budget presentation and game play than a high budget no fun great graphics game. AC is about the driving not the looking at the UI for example, the high budget presentation often helps mask the poor product =GT5\6.

From this point onwards i dont think we are ever gonna get a racing that is considered great, not because of the games, but because of peoples loyalties to certain franchises which prevents them from accepting other games and enjoying them for what they are.

There are 3 great sim based games out on console, DR, AC and Pcars, and people dont like them because of some presentation they have labelled this or that and already laid down the excuse to themselves to overlook a poor GT ( in the likely event it will be a let down ) by saying its all about the high budget presentation.

Too many people just aren't accepting of other racing games because they think GT\S will be and is the holy grail, i have a friend who has bought every racing game on ps4, after about a day or less he says things like driveclub is rubbish, cant wait for GTS, Pcars control is rubbish cant wait for GT, AC cars handle rubbish, FXXk sounds like a hoover (ahem GT?) and career mode is rubbish ( true but its the same as GT and gts doesn't even have 1) cant wait for GTS. Now why cant he just enjoy the games?

He's holding them up to a game that isn't out yet and by standards the PDI haven't even come close themselves. I see my friends attitude replicated online and on this site far too often. There's never gonna be great racing game because people will find a reason to not wanna play it if it doesn't have a certain name on it. That doesn't effect me though really so long i can still buy games like DR,AC and Pcars that set out to entertain me where i demand it.

Maybe we could convince PD, Kunos, T10 etc etc to form a huge monopolistic super company to make perfect games over and over again so no one ever gets bored or critical.

I'd call it...

Super Corsa Forza

7.8/10 not enough sim value

I'd totally still buy this though

automodellista is one of my all time favourite games. The AI wasn't the best. It was good at rubber banding though(the touge stages were a headache at times).
PCars AI are the best I've played against. Its not uncommon to get passed by a train of cars a'la BTCC Super Touring car-style, when a PCars AI give you the hip&shoulder.

If pD can replicate that and tone down the freight train-ness of that AI, I'd call it perfect.

Not played Automobilista, but many people state it that way. PCars is very good, but the thing that it doesnt have the same physics as yourself, decrease a little bit the experience for me.
