And the date it SHOULD have been ready for release...
PS4-Release-Date.png

They had to have GTS ready a month before GT6 came out?

You don't think one of PS's biggest game franchises should have had a game ready for the release of the PS4? Or even 4 years later?
Should they have had a game ready for the PS4? I wish! What do I want?! GT PS4! When do I want it?! When they're ready to release an above standard version!

Yes. It should have been GT6 on PS4.
Totally different goals and design concept in mind for GT6 and GT Sport. It's easy to say something should have been a different way. It's not easy to scrap everything or not endeavor on a project (GT6), missing the chance to learn through experience is crucial and in that type of business. Especially at the level PD are at compared to the rest of the field (even being more successful than MGS!).

I don't know. Maybe they don't have the freedom we might all expect they have. Does Kaz really have an autonomy on GT? He damn sure has free reign over the game's content, but the business side of it, I couldn't imagine.

Either way, let's just forget that last bit I said, but keep in mind the first part. A Prologue and the completed version to that prologue for one generation? COME ON. A very not funny joke.

...I disagree GT6 should have been on PS4. Not the version we got, anyways. I mean, c'mon - with those Standard cars? Those "Standard" tracks? PDI would have been laughed out of this console generation. Probably.

They wouldn't have. That's only part of what I mean about having a concept in mind for either game and console.

Aside from the diehard, nearly religious cult-like fans of the series that are mostly here, this is already pretty much the case. To come out (eventually) with a game that has almost none of the features and content of other titles in the genre 4 years (probably 5) after the initial release of the PS4 is laughable.

I'm pretty sure he must do or very, very close to it. Sony would have made Polyphony release a game by now. And they probably would have preferred GT6 as a PS4 launch title. They know that selling PS4s is ultimately more lucrative for them than selling a few million less GT6 copies (which isn't even a given, with the sales of GT3 and GT5P).

Selling to an established userbase like late-gen PS3 is what a developer who doesn't want to port their game to a new system wants. Taking four years on an apparently small and feature limited game is something a developer does, the publisher would just ship it and get onto the next one. Too many of the business decisions don't make any sense if Sony is calling the shots.

Remember also that Kaz is pretty high up in Sony, so even if he's nominally under Sony control he's unlikely to be severely hampered by that.

Guys, I just checked the PSN store on my UK account, and GT Sport doesn't seem to be on there...

Was it ever thus? Or has it been removed...??

The same in my PSN store DK account, it hasn't been in there since they cancelled the first game release Nov 2016. Should we get worried:confused:

They didn't need it to drive system sales then (and honestly probably don't need it now considering how much better the PS4 is doing than the PS3), but we've already passed the point where we're farther into this system's life cycle without any chance to play any GT game at all then ever before in the history of the series. The bean counters probably aren't thrilled with that when they had multiple retail releases by the same point in the PS2/PS3 life cycle as GT Sport could end up releasing at.

IIRC, it was removed way back when the delay was announced.
