What's going on with this game? Have they had some sort of major setback or something? We've only had one trailer and zero screenshots as well as only two confirmed tracks. This is very odd even on PD's standards. Even when past games were delayed, we still had somewhat of a steady flow of screenshots, trailers, and info on the game. I am baffled at this point. @Jordan not trying to be a bother, but do you know what's going on?

I don't know if Jordan knows anything more than we do at this point and even if he did he wouldn't be able to say.

It was when the reveal at PGW took him by surprise that I first wondered if something was going on with the game TBH.

It wasn't supposed to be revealed at PGW, hence the surprise.

How do we know that though? It certainly hasn't been stated officially. Could it be Sony corporate "forced" the reveal and it still hasn't had the desired effect?

It seems to have backfired given we've heard nothing since.

Jordan said it wasn't going to be at PGW, he was aware that it wasn't supposed to be at PGW, and then it was (surprise). I think PD had planned for it to be revealed at PSX in December, but Sony decided that they wanted to use PSX for smaller titles, so GTS reveal got pushed up to PGW instead.

In having to do so earlier, I don't think PD changed how they had everything set up for GTS leading up to it's launch, and is why we've had such a large gap between the reveal trailer and PD doing anything else so far.

It seems very unlike PD to do something someone else tells them to do reading here, GTPorsche?

Like I've said previously, something is "up" that we haven't been told about yet.

They have to do what Sony tells them to do though, since they are a first-party studio. With the budget they run on, and being the top Sony franchise, Sony is going to have a vested interest in what PD are doing.

I agree, something is up...

Next news will be bad news, delay news.

I agree but Kaz is a special case reading here. Nothing is to be believed unless it comes from Kaz himself even when something is stated by other Sony CEO's. Or Kaz decides when and where GT gets shown/talked about.

Can't have it both ways!

I really, really hope that, if this upgraded PS4 rumour is true, it's not what Kaz & Co are waiting on. So many diehards pointed to the PS3 as "limiting the dream" or whatever, and truly believed the PS4 would solve all the problems GT's 5 and 6 have (even though a good chunk of their issues are game design problems, not necessarily console power ones). Kaz even played into that with the talk of the PS4 being a blank canvas, and how it was so much easier to develop.
Unless they've once again have gone beyond the actual capabilities of the console, I'd assume that Kaz's statement is on point about the PS4. Would not surprise me if that's the case though - among other things. Perhaps PSVR is holding it back?

The stealth announcement of GT Sport surely was unexpected for that reason. If I recall correctly, it was at the very end of Sony's conference too. Still, an update regarding the state of the game wouldn't hurt, for those who still care anyway.

I just woke up this morning and completely forgotten that PD had released a trailer for GT:S a while ago. Come on PD. Show us some new stuff!

It looks like a new studio, so that's not suprising.

All the studios (linked at the bottom of the page) are empty. Probably done deliberately for the photos but still doesn't "feel" right to me!

And I agree about the NA/EU studios, queleuleu. They just seem to be mainly there to liaise with local manufacturers/track owners/FIA and organise local game conventions. Calling them studios seems a bit unfair/wrong.

Seriously speaking, methinks PDI are getting a good deal here, what with these "employees" working for them on the cheap. Surely they don't even get benefits, insurances, the works.

Sort of undercuts their rhetoric about "the artisanal approach" though. It turns out they're just as amenable to "outsourcing" and cheap labour as any other company, they just choose to do it by taking advantage of students rather than companies based in countries where wages are lower.

I think it's a good idea and it's about time they did something like this to try and keep up with modern asset creation rates.

Please illuminate me what "hilarious given all the bs that PD was too particular to outsource" means other than you thinking this PD studio is equivalent to outsourcing.
It's hilarious to claim you're too particular to outsource, and bring a bunch of students in to help make the game while they learn.
Or are they just teaching them? Maybe that's the delay, as they're busy teaching while they work.

It's an intern partnership, they still work with "veteran employees" (as it is written). And yes, part of an internship is learning from being in a production pipeline environment.

Maybe you are not aware, but internships are common practice. Temporary contractors are common practice. It still is in-house production. Because they are in-house.

But maybe hiring itself is a form of outsourcing.

And yet a lot of people think interns aren't as good as qualified and experienced employees.
