Gran Turismo Sport One Year Later: A Game Transformed (Still Needs Content)

I kinda agree with him,but GT Sport is so different from the old titles that its kinda unfair to say one is better from the other,i would say GT4 is the best singleplayer GT of all time and GT Sport is the best Multiplayer GT of all time.
Debateable but understandable .

Surely the game has improved a lot, and it is good to know that it is still far from having an end. I really appreciate the content updates, and PD should definitely continue with them.

However, I would like to see new gameplay features, such as option to adjust the FOV, dash cam, customizable HUD. And also, significant improvements in sound and AI.

The game is already acceptable in terms of content, but content is not everything. If they want players to continue playing, and even attract new ones, new features and improvements need to happen.

Now this I agree except in terms of single player, I prefer GT3 more.

GT Sport...I don't enjoy sport mode and GT league just doesn't work. Which leaves making liveries and hotlapping..C'MON!

I just yearn for GT7...there must be many others. Damn it !
Count me in, Jules.

It’s very likely this could be the only Gran Turismo on this generation of PlayStation. If that means a highly refined Sport, and a title available closer to the launch of the next-gen console than what we’ve seen on PS3 and PS4, well — isn’t that a major win?
The best choice for Poly. We don't need another GT on PS4 without major new features like dynamic TOD/weather.
For every circuit.

Interesting considering the discourse that has gone on for years here that I've seen first hand, says otherwise. Because people who claim to be fans moan one way while the other set of fans moan another. It's catch 22 type of thing for PD where they can't please everyone all the time, and at times seemingly please no one (GT5 release for example). I think GTS is an improvement over where the game was two iterations ago and even the last iteration. Sure it has the quarks of a PD game where they set out to do things in their own weird methods, but nonetheless is a GT game through and through.

I too am one that has had issues with PD and how they've executed but I don't for a moment think that me and all my infinite finite wisdom could actually take what I want and make the best "GT game ever". Especially with fellow fans who are likely not going to agree with me and vice versa. So why your friend thought this as some great idea (not original by the way it's been said), is beyond me. Why you'd share here by extension is further head scratching considering it doesn't actually improve or say anything of note.
Ahem, Kyle, the author started this group grope. PILE ON!!!

So, to recap...

Glass half full
Glass half empty
Glass twice as big as it needs to be
PD sold us a half a glass at full price.

No doubt most here will be only too happy to give Kaz another $120 each for two more full titles, by which time we should find ourselves playing the hi-res version of GT6.

Which is what we wanted all along!
That's all I've ever wanted from each new GT. Update the variety of cars, circuits and dynamics...

PD has always decided it better to drop great additions while introducing new options as if they couldn't do both... or worst. It seems as if it's their official culture.

My two cents: Poly is working hard on the next GT, building a big car and track lists. Given the poor state of GTSport back in October 2017, they keep updating the game with content. Sure, the improved livery editor (helmet and racing suit) is a new feature but at the end, I don't think they're working on new features for GTSport like clubs, better app...

I like the game. Of course the dynamic weather and day/night cycle are welcome, but what I really miss is the opportunity to drive Le Mans (Circuit de la Sarthe) at night. How could the forget to add that?

I would like they implement rain and I prefer more adding tracks than cars. And they should fix the AI-no-refuel-bug at endurance races.

THANK YOU im saying the same for so long .

GT1, 2, 3, 4 and even GT5 dump on this from a great height. It is better than GT6 though. So it is only the second worst GT game then. * Cool. :ouch:

* Note. One player only assessment.
Like i said before GTS is way different than older GTs,its a reboot for the franchise and its focus is on different things.Racing against real people is way more exciting than any AI race from GT1 to GT6,you might not like all the things the game offers you but there are things GTS is miles ahead older GTs.And i'm not even including the whole Esports aspect which is a amazing experience that is part of the game you bought and you can participate if you want to.

Launch release GT Sport is a 8/10 to me it could easily be a 9/10 if the penalty system wasnt a mess and the disconnects werent so common.

What about course maker?

I'm just so curious, is there a single journalist asking aboit it in interviews?

It's a feature we've had since the phrase next-gen was a thing, since GT5 at least. And for GT6 we were required an app to use it.

Wasn't course maker ditched because GTSport needed the aprooval of FIA?

I would not say your wrong but hard at work seems like a far fetch.. given that Kazunori himself saying they have worked their hardest this year delivering contents. The next GT is definately in their minds but they seem to be well focused on GT Sport now and that is a good thing.

I would guess that the next GT is in the works and we could hear from it later in end 2019 or beginning 2020 along with the Next generation of consoles but time will tell, at this point I won't even get mad if they include the same models from the PS4 (with a slight better texture quality and LOD).
What I am curious to see is if the lighting and rendering will be on par with the static TOD we have now if they include Dynamic TOD.
Hell even if they include Real Time Ray-traced Global illumination I would give them praise.

Great article.

For me, this game has been much too little, too late. It’s always been my thought that car and track DLC has been held back with the plan of releasing a set schedule to keep fans interested, but quite the opposite has happened to this fan; each update sort gives me a ‘who cares’ vibe. And let’s not bring up the mileage exchange.

While it’s great seeing updated versions of many favorites come along, most of the cars and tracks are those I’ve already experienced in GT5/6, and by placing many behind a grind wall makes it all even more frustrating, disappointing and borderline insulting. By the time the complete game is here and we’ve attained enough credits without stretching and breaking a pile of rubber bands it will likely go offline shortly after.

But this is the way of PD, who touted they were burning everything to the ground except for the same old game economy that’s existed for 20 years. Maybe that’s what they need to assess going forward, and not continuing development of this divergent route to eSports. And while I don’t have any interest in the FIA championship (because I’m not good enough and there’s other things I would rather watch), both the online and offline modes can and should coexist. And the current GT League is not cutting the mustard.

And the reason there’s no time transition or weather to keep the frame rate high and locked can be perceived as a cop out. While not perfect, GT6 had it and looked gorgeous (and still does), so why not have it offline in GT Sport. How much longer should we be expected to lap Sarthe in the light?

So here we are, on board in the long haul with GTSport, likely the only game we’ll see on the PS4. And by the time we’ve got a full game in 2020, everyone will have moved onto the PS5 playing the likes of DriveClub 2.0 while we wait for the next PD release. A never ending circle that needs broken.

I have the same feeling, but who knows what's still to come to GTS. PD likes to surprise us.

Hopefully the next GT will come up with the important missing features.

Really hope they get around to adding new features like rain and improving stuff like the physics, single player etc. New cars and tracks are always welcome but it's becoming the same cycle for me: buy new cars, do a few laps on the new track, wait a month, repeat.

For me the worst GT game for a few reasons, but the main one being that if the PD servers are down, or in the future don't exist, there is not much game to be had. :boggled:

Now you may say, when the new GT game appears, potentially on a PS5, hardly anyone will be playing this. Mmm, but I can go and play any previous GT game without the need to be connected to the internet. They need to, imho, make it that not so much of the game disappears, or is affected by no internet connection. I know it is not in their interest to do that though, so expect something similar for the nest game.

I want a bigger single player experience as that is what I have liked previously. For me, there is so little of that in comparison to previous games, that I don't know how they could charge full price when a lot of this game is aimed at online. Just my opinion though eh! ;)
