Gran Turismo Sport v1.23 Now Available: New Circuit de Sainte-Croix, Mercedes F1 Car and More

Haven't driven the Copen yet but I have driven the Beat and S660. I really like the S660. I took the 787B for a spin around Sainte-Croix. I don't know how to feel about the handling but I don't like how they changed the engine sound. The old sound was a high pitched whine. Now it sounds like a bee crossed with a mosquito. Haven't tried the Ford GT Test Car yet but it's a beautiful looking machine. I tried driving the W08. I almost can I think but I definitely won't be competing with Lewis Hamilton anytime soon. Still, it's cool that we have it. And I enjoy having 8 gears to play around with. As for the GTO I'll pass unless I win it.

Why though? It's not a bad implementation, with all the free updates we've been getting it was bound to happen. They've already been selling the game for peanuts it is a business too.
because all microtransactions are bad and a signature from 100 people is totally going to make PD remove them

In all seriousness, some people are acting like these optional, completely minor purchases is the equivalent of the game being Pay-to-Win when it really isn't. But those who complain every time a game gets microtransactions will do the same here, I'm sure.

787B weirdly sounds dissapointing. It is kinda more realistic than GT5/6. But just like Ford GT 05, its just way too muffled, quiet, and lower pitched for some reason. I mean the Mazda VGT sounds cool, why not the 787B?

On the positive note, a profesional level 20 car race (starts at 15th position) in an upgraded (but not leveled up) Beat or S660 on ST Croix C with Fine Weather is an experience to behold. Make sure its on standing start, though.

Things I loved
- New Circuit with THREE layouts AND reverse versions of each, basically 6 new tracks in one. That's bloody brilliant.
- Lightweight K Cup returns - As expected with the cars. And the K cars are so cheap, as they should be but it makes they instabuys, who cars if it comes up on a wheel as a daily prize.
- Nostalgia Cup -YAAAS!
- New scapes - Great, as I often feel for most of them I will only use them once, but I really enjoy this mode.

Things I am sarcastic or indifferent about
- Yeah, everyone was desperate for a 1 lap at Fishermans for the F150. SO glad that's finally been added.
- No museum :( (I might be one of the few people who reads them. It's mix of stuff I didn't know and clumsy charm amuses me "It was called the most beautiful coupe in the world" *No picture* .... "It featured unique aerodynamic design" *No picture*)
- Another 911 endurance race. What is the obsession with that car? Yes I'll do it anyway.

In total I am really excited to get stuck in with all the new stuff, and as far as MTX go, take it or leave it. It's effectively outside the game, and even lets you turn off the in game menu integration in the options.

You gotta be kidding... what about accelerating from standstill?

Hi, that "exaggerated acceleration spin" and "tyres keep spinning while no throttle" is reduced/gone.That feels pretty normal now. That's the only good thing about the new tyre model. But the lateral grip feels like its still non existent.
I was preparing for that patch by drived only one car all the time since last friday, just for have better feeling what changes are made. :ill:

Car Info screen for the Honda S660 states the car weighs 1,764 lbs but on the main purchase screen, and in the garage, the weight is actually 1,830 lbs. What's up with that?

My review of the St Croix circuit.

I can already tell that this is a homage to Driveclub. In DC there were these circuit-style tracks that were improv racing tracks and had multiple layouts to go with it. The way the barriers were designed is identical.

However I felt like some portions of the circuit were better in reverse, and the technical section north of the circuit should have been reworked to not feel like a Tilkedrome. DT Gardens was tryhard, but St Croix was not and it shouldn't be there in the current form. The rest of the roads was nicely designed, particularly the width of the course as it provides room for overtaking and the thrill of riding the tightest line at the same time. Alsace should've had the width of St Croix's street roads, that course would gain more fans like me if it was tighter.

Design wise, what's up with the north section again? It's just a constant drive through a thick forest. There was nothing to see outside the track until the bridge and street section, and as noted by people some areas felt empty and unfinished, but the forest felt like constant filler. There could have been more traditional or modern buildings off side.

This circuit is perfect for Gr.1 but due to the lengthy nature of all its layouts, it can feel boring to race in Gr.N, hey even Gr.3 was dull for me. However I think I am biased for this opinion as Gr.1 cars 'flow' better on every circuit. I just hate the north section in particular, on layouts B and C, St Croix was like the perfect cruise track to me.

Rating of the layouts:
B > C > C2 > B2 > A2 >>>>>>>>>> A

I am bit disapointed that they put Ford gt lm race car in gr,3 that means it will be slower now. Little excited to test the new track, but i don't know it feels Little weak Considering we had to Wait 2 months. I think i will Wait to play more gt sport to next update drops.
I want My
Corvette c6 zr1
Pagani huayra.
Ferrari F12. When will we see those cars.
I still can't complain its still free content, its just that the game lacking so many cars and tracks. So its getting boring quickly. But with another big update, there might be some good stuff to do

Alright, so my conclusion are :

The F1 car isn't as everyone expected but it is nice addition to the game to be honest. Maybe there is some kind of top rated online tournament in the future (racing side by side with Lewis Hamilton perhaps?). Also, hopefully PD can sort the livery applications on W08 since we have the other color variations car as secondary options then why can't? As long the original livery car stay untouched is fine I guess.

Kei cars looks sweet and probably the best from whole package.

Mazda 787B had a bit mixed impressions with sounds hopefully PD patched it for next update just like Turn 14 BRZ and 2005 Ford GT. Still, I'm happy this car made it to the list. One of GT legends for sure.

Ferrari 250 GTO is also nice even though it is expensive but it suits with the new track I think. Feels like doing classic rally like Mille Miglia or Targa Florio sort of thing with how St. Croix environment looks.

The track looks good, not sure yet about the layout but it is decent I think.

Helmet and suits customization is nice touch. Looks like some people already having fun with it.

Really nice update! kudos to PD as always by the way no word on the microtransactions ? i don't mind but pepole on social media are mad about it.
I would say its easy to buy under 2 million but difficult above so change that. Would been more logical to me. But as someone here (Philip) mentioned maybe they want to prevent buying 20 million car and selling it for 10 million. Still seems not logical to me. Or you insert micro-transactions or you dont.

787b direct audio.

I really love the sound of the 787 from the replay perspective ! Its the first car in this game that actually sounds awesome to me !

I bought the 1962 Ferrari after spending 12 HOURS of grinding
Thats more like it. There was someone here grinding 20 hours for 2 million and clearly doing something wrong.

I mean they could just record the sounds off the TV since F1 broadcast is so high quality these days.

They really couldn't. If it were that easy then all cars in games would sound exactly like their real counterparts.

Man I can't wait to get home from work!!

Has anybody tried the suit livery editor??? Can you put your own decals on there? I think somebody asked this earlier in the thread but wasnt answered

I’ve tried it and yes you can put your own decals on it. The helmet too. I e already down my gtplanet ones :D

Daily races to now run a whole week:

"Starting on Monday, July 30, 2018, we will be changing the update interval for daily race events from every day to 1 week.

This will be implemented from the end of the server maintenance on that day.
The hosting hours of the races will not change.

Please continue to enjoy GranTurismo Sport."

WAIT WHAT? WHY? IF WE GET CRAPPY RACES, THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR A FULL WEEK? NO NO NO, THIS IS HORRIBLE.

Am I the only one upset about this?!

I've been grinding on and off for a week or so, just to afford the 250 GTO, and what a dissapointment! It feels, behaves and handles like a modern car. Hardly any body roll at all, in a 50+ year old car! The sound is not even close to the real thing either.

Thx for share that info. It was the only car i was interested in. Because in Assetto Corsa it is a real joy, this car made a smile into my face on every corner exit.
Good to know that i can save now credits for something else :D

I love the fact that lewis Hamilton’s car is a bitch to drive. It’s not like anyone here has ever driven one. So we have no real reference to see how realistic it is. My thinking is that if F1 cars were easy to drive we would all be doing it. So I suspect it’s probably not far off the mark when it comes to comparisons between real and simulated. It would be good if PD do another vid interview with Hamilton to give us his thoughts on the car which may give a little insight into car in game against the real version

This will, without a shadow of a doubt, 100% break my interest in Sport Mode. Completely and utterly. There are some tracks/class combo's that some people, myself included, may not be all that good at, or even like, or just flat out avoid because they're SR destroying wreck-fests, so the fact the Daily races are, err, daily, is a very good thing. If you don't like the options you only have to wait <24 hours for them to be refreshed. Also, I don't want to be racing Sport Mode on the same 🤬 track for a 🤬 week, or not racing in Sport Mode at all for a week because the A race is, invariably, dull, the B race is at Monza and the C race is at BB Raceway, or some equally idiotic combination.

The only way this would be acceptable is if they increase the amount of weekly races, up to like 7 or 10, to offer a good variety of tracks/classes.

This has ruined my day! Weekly races? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Why? We had that at the start of the game and people didn't enjoy it. Isn't that why they changed it?

Think about it. Lets say the weekly race list is a set of three tracks you typically despise. You might not pick up the game for an entire week now instead of a day? Doesn't that push players away? Doesn't that hurt the player count?

This is a horrible, not asked for, unnecessary change. We needed an EXTENSION of the daily race slots. Not a continuance of crap tracks for a week. I am furious.

This might give some incite.
I remember when I tried to learn how to drive the Delta Wing in GT6 I used real life footage and commentary on how to drive it to help. I'm guessing the same will be true of the W08. Though I agree a guide from Lewis would be nice, especially given that the in game car seems to be the launch spec, and thus the worst version of the W08.

Body roll you say?

I remember this being quite a fun car in GT6, assuming it's 20 million I won't be trying it in GT Sport anytime soon.

Thing i've noticed in this tread,
  • People saying 20k / 2k and thinking that means 20 million / 2 million (2k = 2000)
  • Huge amount of people moaning about not bein able to customise the W08, as much as I'd love that, the Works Merc team are not going to want a Ferrari livery on their car, its common sense, considering the amount of money its probably cost to get in the game.
  • Hardly anyone talking about the actual important things like tyre wear / temp and physics model that is said to have been altered.

I don’t get it who are they listening to...? Certainly not to fans... we should have got more daily races, with different settings (endurance, settings allowed, aids prohibited etc.)

Well it looks like the GT Sport whining and crying thread is exploding right now! As for the update I’m still downloading it, but I have seen videos of the W08 and 787B gameplay, and the 787B sounds really good! As for the W08, it’s alright, not quite close enough to the real one, like say Codemasters, but not completely trash.

Oh, and as for the whole “Liverygate” with the Silver Arrows, I can totally see why they would not want liveries of their competitors (I.E. Ferrari) plastered all over their championship winning car, especially on Lewis Hamilton’s. I don’t quite get why they did the same thing for the color version (I’ll just call it the base model like old GT days), but to each their own I guess
