Yes, but there's something like 28 plus now and growing.
Most of them are introduced in GT6, unless you meant something else.

High Speed Ring is the worst and most boring track in GT's history.
Not sure about worst (atleast compared to BB Speedway lmao) but it supposed to be boring and easy. Its a first track to introduce novices to a driving game, how to turn and such.

Lies lies lies yeah......

GTS is too focused on VGTs. I understand that this is the direction technology is moving and PD wants to be seen as embracing the future, but these vehicles aren't here yet. For me, it's hard to get passionate about these cars and even the latest machines that are available IRL lack the appeal of older street and track machinery.
We haven't had a new VGT in months. And out of all DLC updates we've gotten, only around 2 of them have had VGTs in em.

I'm not too sure where you're coming from.

Compared to GT6, we've barely had any added through updates. THANK GOODNESS because I was sick of seeing them in pretty much every update for that game. I sent all of them to the back of the garage:P

And I said the same thing about GT6 at the time too, but this is the GTS unpopular opinions thread. :)

Yet there's still an entire section devoted to it, they are allowed in races with Gr.1 and Group C cars and there are at least seven more on the way: https://www.gran-turismo.com/us/vgt/

In my opinion, imaginary cars have no place in this sim, never have.

I liked the GT1 and GT2 versions of High Speed Ring. GT4 onwards was crap.

Haha nope, mixing LMP1s with Group C cars is a joke.

What is a joke is that GT sport has no dedicated MULTICLASS racing like other racers out. U should be able to run a race with Gr1 Gr3 and Gr4 all on the same track. Some of the most fun races ive had on Project Cars 2 have been multiclass in a Gr1 or Gr3 on a grid loaded with cars. Supposedly this is a racing game but so many aspects are missing

Imagine how chaotic a multiclass race in the dailys would be though, most can’t even race cars that are in the same category.

Its always the possibility for chaos and i understand u, but adding that would up the replay value and mix it up from the same o ish. Its something about trying to be first in your class in a lower class car and watching and hearing a hybrid diesel pass by sounding lovely. IRL u have multiclass racing with many of the cars in these categories.

This should be very unpopular. :D

Since every race has BOP and there are frequent update/changes. Races should be limited to cars with "factory settings". With nothing to adjust. ie BB, TCS, ABS, CSA.

The only issue with this is that the in game aids are player aids and do not actually replicate the aids found in the actual cars. They only share names.

Although I think that 1 weekly endurance event like this would be super cool. Half Gr1 and Gr3, or Gr3 and Gr4.

Bonus points for finishing ahead of people in a faster class than you!!

I just thought of one, although I am not sure this would be unpopular.

GT6 Daily races were BETTER!!! Imagine if we had DR and SR in those races? There was street car racing, and the choices were LIMITED to only a handful of cars.

I also miss the weekly lapping challenges.

But how would that prove that the game is too focused on VGTs? VGTs being mixed into the Gr.1 class is just laziness(for the most part). And look at the amount of REAL cars we've gotten in comparison to the VGTs. If the game was so focused on them, they'd be everywhere in the game and every update would have come with at least one VGT.
I fail to see how the game is too focused on VGTs.

Oh well. I guess that's just an unpopular opinion then.
But I don't understand why'd you'd have such an opinion, considering how the game has panned out in the past year.
I understand that it is your opinion, but the logic behind it doesn't make any sense to me, is all.

Please explain. Especially the first, in-car view, claim.

I don't understand why that needs explaining. Especially in a Group 1 race, there's no way anyone can deny that using the only view that is remotely realistic isn't a huge disadvantage vs people using hood or bumper camera. And that's a big part of why it's the most realistic view as well. Closed cockpit prototypes SHOULD have far less visibility than others. There's no other way to simulate the difference in visibility between different types of cars besides using cockpit view in these games. That's why iracing forces you to use cockpit view and that's how it should be.

If you use bumper, chase, or hood camera, you'd have the same visibility if you were driving a shifter kart as if you were driving a Audi R18 LMP. I shouldn't need to explain why that's insanely unrealistic and frankly BS that it's allowed in what is supposed to be a competitive online race that's supposedly sanctioned by the FIA.

I don't think I should be at a disadvantage just because I'm one of the few that cares about realism in a racing sim, instead of pretending like it's NFS or burnout by using unrealistic trash like bumper, hood, or chase camera. They call it "the real driving simulator" and let use race in this FIA sanctioned competitive mode but still allow players to basically cheat.

Well at least now they make everyone use steering wheels at championship events.

Hopefully GT Sport 2 on PS5 will have full PS VR support. Problem solved

The players will find and choose the fastest/ safest way to race and apparently is not a problem to FiA. Fortunately, they understand that in virtual racing it may be better to let people decide their driving view. I don't believe this situation will change regarding the official races.
This 'lack of realism' is a problem to some people, I know that because of another forum's poll back in the day. In lobby racing there should be an option to force players use certain driving view. That would be the correct way to solve this little problem in my opinion.

Well but the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is there, and back in GT4 there were quite a number of these kinds of cars.
The Raptor is the ONLY exception since it's what I believe is called a Trophy Truck, and was built SPECIFICALLY for off-road racing.

Get rid of all the road cars plus Gr.X plus all the Vision crap.

And most importantly: Get rid of the livery editor!!
