Really? All FIA approved circuits have a chicane like that? Are you sure?
Most of the time a chicane will added when the racing speeds without the chicane are exceeding what is deemed safe for a section of the circuit.

It could be the actual top speeds being generated and the approaching corner and the amount of runoff available in that sector or perhaps the corner is off camber which again increases risk of an off which speed may amplify warrants a reduction in the speeds being generated for that sector of track.
Prime example is Daytona, the cars were just getting to fast and the chicane was added because the concern was tires could not reliably withstand the speeds and g forces being generated without the chicane slowing the sustained speeds down a bit.

I know the motorcycles fought extremely dangerous tire issues for a few years, one of the reasons the Daytona 200 bike race went from 1000cc bikes to 600cc bikes as the 600 class did not abuse the tires as bad as the 1000's.

So it is not just the FIA that uses chicanes but all racing orgs that care about safety of their racers. Some tracks or sections of tracks need the chicanes in safeties interest other tracks are fine without them.

Tsukuba and Nurburgring Nordschleife are both best for time attacks, and are terrible for racing. Also, I think we could use more karting circuits, especially when a decent amount of the circuits in-game have karting circuits on their grounds - I think Willow Springs and Le Mans were among them.

That's not unpopular at all^^ All the guys at GT world tour events look really cool but I think 99% of people are waiting for a proper GT : Grand Valley, cool music and a GT500 Castrol Supra.
Okay you right I just don’t wanna be a pessimistic person since online is all GT Sport really is.

SPA has a karting Circuit too.

Unpopular opinion time.

The original tracks are garbage and need to be scrapped. Why anyone would want them in over tracks like Silverstone, Daytona or Laguna is beyond me personally. For a game that's in partnership with the FIA the fact that so many fantasy tracks are still in the game is puzzling.
So all the Special Stage Route tracks are garbage and should be scrapped just because of your opinion? Wew... :dunce:

I know but for some reason, I couldn't imagine having the same opinion about them as you do. :indiff:

That's ok too. Some people love them, personally I've never been a fan of any of GT's original tracks and I would prefer more real world tracks over any original ones.

Yes but I guess PD isn't scrimping the world tracks over the original ones, is it? So it's good to see both of them exist in the game because I believe the more tracks present, the merrier.

As long as original refers to the games before Sport, i'm 100% with you. Tracks like Maggiore, Kyoto and St Croix have been made very well and largely feel like they could be real - i'm glad they exist.
As for the likes of Trial Mountain, Deep Forest etc, well i can't find anything appealing over 20 years later about them, they feel ridiculous even on a quick trip down memory lane to GT6. I personally hope they never get included in the game or the future of GT ever again. Nostalgia shouldn't be what carries a series forward.

Could just be my luck, but I feel like the quality of driving is steadily going down, and it's making Sport mode such a drag.

The weekly combos have been so garbage recently. I was excited for Spa but then they made it a fuel saving race C. I feel like I'm getting sent down a worm hole of endless practicing just so I can qualify 8th. It's killing the fun in this game.

Only other options are endlessly practicing for an FIA race that'll inevitably get ruined by someone else (or myself), or a lobby race where I'll probably get punted in the first two corners. I feel like I'm slowly starting to move away from this game.

Second unpopular opinion: I'm all for new tracks being added, especially real world ones. But Autopolis sucks. And if feel like it's been used in dailies a lot since it's been released.

He said something that fits this thread. What problems are you having comprehending this?

I swear you must have read my mind, man. That's exactly how I feel. Except for that practising part. I don't even bother anymore. I haven't played GTS in almost two weeks and I don't feel like playing again anytime soon. Definitely not this week.

I hate Autopolis too but I think it's like that with all japanese tracks in this game. Can you even remember a week without a japanese track in the "daily" races? I have a feeling we'll be getting Suzuka for race C next week. It's already been almost two weeks since we last got it.

My unpopular opinion is that I really like Autopolis. It's one of my favourite tracks, and it's given me more than half of my relatively few Sport Mode wins. That being said, that the dailies keep using the same few track layouts is a bit boring.

This latest update (Spa update, in case someone months in the future reads this) would be absolute garbage if it didn't have the track with it. The 4 cars added are nice, but garbage as half of them have been thrown into the Gr. X cess-pool. Even still, Spa has been so overhyped, we all went limp and the surprise was gone. So far this update had been pretty garbo.

I always find it funny how you always seem to have a 'joke' ready in the chamber, even when you clearly have no ability (or, as I'm more inclined to believe, desire) to comprehend what is being said, making yourself look like a joke in the process.

The post you quoted said that yes, the SSR tracks are more or less garbage. That's something I don't agree with to that veracity, but I do think that they're not really needed within a modern GT game because they have more or less been replaced by Tokyo Expressway (A set of tracks which absolutely are trash and are pinball games considering how people drive online) and it plays into the nostalgia people have for GT's past, which really leads to the rock and hard place mentality that PD has in trying to push forward the series as they want to, and make fans that clamor for a 'classic' GT game actually not up and leave like PD have been doing since the very beginning when GT Sport was announced and launched.

Once again - how hard is that to understand as a post, and why are you trying to police what is posted in a topic where I am one hundred percent certain most people know where they are posting? The fact that it's an 'unpopular opinions' topic should clue you in to what will be present within the thread.

What? Could you reply first without trying to sound that unnecessarily condescending? Sheesh. Seriously, I'd appreciate it very much.

It's getting tiresome already, especially when it's apparent how you really love arguing so much about stuff in this forum.

By the way, I asked him the question in response to this, not on his opinion about original tracks.

Where do I sign up?

If that's what you thought, then wow. Goes to show how you simply assume things so easily without analyzing carefully.

And fyi, I do know that this is an unpopular opinion thread. I don't need you to tell me that.

Really? What in the world are you talking about then with what you've said earlier?

To explain the joke.

I asked a rhetorical question to indicate that I endorse getting rid of the special stage tracks in the game.

What makes the question rhetorical is that everyone knows there isn't actually somewhere where I can sign up to advocate for the tracks to be removed from the game.

The humour in this instance could be derived from both the absurdity of my question and the juxtaposition of your mildly condescending initial remark to my somewhat flippant and frivolous response.

Thank you all for attending my TED talk

Fair enough, I suppose? You could have explained earlier though. Still, even if it did exist, do you believe that there would be a chance for those tracks to get removed from the game? I do wonder.

And now, you think I'm "mildly condescending" when I asked you that question earlier just because I had no idea why you've suddenly asked yours prior to your explanation here? Oh-kay? But then again, like what you've said earlier, a petition that doesn't even exist seems to be the very reason why you asked that rhetorical question.

Very funny, indeed.

It doesn't become easier right away. I actually had to re-learn how to play once I got the wheel and pedals and turned off all the assists. However, now that I have gotten used to it; yes it is much easier to control the cars around corners.

I can attest to that. From controller to wheel & pedals during an event, I made myself look like a total idiot. I thought I'd be ready. LoL

I'm not always on the forum. But do I think SSRX will get removed from the next game? If it is actually "future proofed" then definitely not.

Do I think SSR5, SSR11, and SSR7 will return? I don't think so and I hope not.

I was referring to your reply to brocp. To be clear, I don't have any issues with you.

Very funny, indeed.

Thanks!

Well, that's your opinion. There's nothing wrong if you really despise them.

Really? Chill, I wasn't. I was just surprised about his opinion, after all, since I used to like some tracks counted in the original ones.
