I don't care for the points so much, if the races are fun - I race them. If I now only have 3 chances to race and I'm not around for them or I want to run another one then I will 100% region or account hop to get the other slots, because really, why wouldn't I?
This change from PD is going to really hurt the American players who are going to have their lobbies filled with Europeans denied a chance at actually racing, and since most of those are quicker drivers it's going to play havoc with the points scored.

Out of interest do you know what the easiest way for a DR reset is on this game, quitting doesn't seem as efficient as it did on GT Sport and I don't really want to reset by ramming people (obviously if the leagues are still restricted after this test season I'll do what I have to do to race).

Qualified P3 with what didn't feel like a great lap and decided to start on softs. Jumped P2 at the start and then P1 made a mistake at the start of lap 2 which allowed me through. It turns out P1 started on mediums and ended up holding up the rest of the pack (they battled quite a bit as well).
So the rest of the race was me just trying to keep it clean and hold on at the end when they came back on softs. They caught me with 4 laps to go but made a couple of mistakes behind me in the dirty air and so I managed to hold on to bring home the win.

Man, your tires were trashed at the end of both stints. I am left wondering if maybe a two-stop would have been a few seconds quicker for you? Of course, a two-stopper could cause time loss in traffic...

I did 15 on medium and 8 on softs if that helps anyone, seemed pretty easy on both sets, could probably push the softs another lap or two...

Got my doubts about tomorrow, I'm not meshing well with this new Audi. I've got a feeling I might be turning it into a lawnmower... :boggled:
I'm glad to say this didn't happen. :P Something sort of started to click last night thankfully.
If anyone ends up in a lobby with me, I apologise in advance. :dunce:
I was in the same race as @Cabelmania and @Lost Sheltie so the apology is there if either of you want to take it, although I'm not sure what it would be for at this point.

I thought I was really struggling to find pace with the new Audi but it turns out I was far from alone. Tough combo though. Keeping that car on such a tight track without spinning it for half an hour at pace is hard.

Qualifying was a bit frustrating. I botched my first lap a bit with a very wide line at Paddock Hill Bend and was a bit sloppy through other sections. I figured I'd just write it off and get it right on the second lap, but as I came charging up to turn 1 a Saudi came out of the pits and blocked the racing line, forcing me to back right off. :banghead: The third lap was ultimately much better, giving me a P7 start from a 1:17.530. A bit off of my personal best but not horrible.

Starting in the middle I figured I'd get the Mediums out of the way first. In some ways I'm glad I did but it made lap 1 really, really tough. I went into turn 1 slightly hotter than intended off the grid start but thankfully didn't make contact with anyone. I sent it up the inside of Sheltie at Druids as I couldn't get over to the left and tip-toed around the apex on the kerb. The pack started bullying me on the Mediums though, so I ended up down in P9 by the time I was on the back straight. Definitely need a lot more time to get used to being in such close quarters in VR, it's still quite overwhelming.

A Spaniard dropped it coming out of Paddock Hill Bend on lap 2 so a free position gained moving me back up to P8. I then just pumped in laps for a bit until I eventually caught up to Cabel at the start of lap 7, then followed him around until I made a mistake at Surtees and a Belgian passed me.

I stayed out on the Mediums until the end of lap 12, came in to switch for the Softs and then found the timing was not on my side upon leaving the pits as I'd just been pipped into Paddock Hill Bend by an Italian who had yet to pit with Cabel hot on his heels, both on Mediums. The Italian who hadn't stopped really, really held me and Cabel up.

I then followed Cabel around for a few laps again trying to find a good opportunity to cleanly get past, which I got when Cabel made a similar mistake to mine earlier by going wide on Surtees, moving me back up to P8. I briefly took P7 when a Brit who had gone off at Clearways was rejoining the track, but I lost it again after making another slip-up at Surtees. I reckon Surtees must be collecting Audi RS5s today because keeping the car steady through there can be tough!

Ended up taking P8 at the end for 190 points with a clean race bonus. Slightly under my usual 200+ target but I'm going to stick to my usual one-and-done since that was draining!

Cannot have pace with this DTM car probably I cannot put full power enough early..I will’not do this long race…
Training for Manu and trying to determine my car choice, could someone who has already chosen show the leaderboard..
Thanks
Assuming you mean for Interlagos round 1, here's the top 30 - a good mix, nothing really stands out (though the Renault is looking stronger this season).

Pad tyre wear moment. Yeah 2 stop might've been quicker but overtaking isn't easy around here, so I figured I'd stick with track position.
I think the quicker strategy will end up being whichever one gives you more clear track

As far as I'm aware it's to just spin around at the start line and drive backwards over and over and over again, but I'm not sure if that's been made less efficient or not.

It's a shame they're doing this - there's a dozen of better solutions that will direct people to specific slots without ruining it for the other 95% of players in GT1. There's 30,000 DR between me and the top guys, why on earth would I need to be forced into their race slots?

I think what @Roggers suggested is an absolutely fantastic solution and the best one I could think of too, just have the other races have nullified points so it forces all the GTWS fellas into specific slots and actually still lets the other 95% of people race for fun when they are able to.

The race then, started on mediums. It was a hilariously chaotic first lap, and I took advantage of it big time, up to P8. So much happened on lap 1, so better to just demonstrate my POV what happened.
lol, what a first lap. One question- I thought the race info said grid start with false check. But in your replay, it seems that there is no false check. Can anyone confirm is there is false start check?

The ones that are really going to get hosed are the low A players. They're in GT1 too, and the skill gap between low A and mid A+ is quite large. Hopefully there are enough players the low As get grouped with other As and not with the aliens.

I kinda like the idea of having 10 slots, but you only get to race in three. You can pick... whichever ones work for you, but you only get three entries.

Losing race A from ratings will hurt with the resets but if the races for next season are good enough I'll have to consider spending the extra time, ideally I get put in a race with a certain somebody, where you don't mind losing DR against their rear bumper 🙈

I like the idea of people going for the holiday prize to register for star player before the season starts then they can have a eSport division, the rest of us can have GT1, GT2 and GT3 where we race as many slots as we want and score points which mean nothing.

The worst part of that is some of the DR B players are really fast, put them in the same lobby and they'll get a competitive race.

Did the first round as GT2 because I’m on my climb upwards once again and wasn’t able to get the low DR A back this week in time to be penalized with 3 slots.

The lobby must have been a high B because p1 had 135 points available and when I was in GT1 for a few sessions, I had lobbied that were 140 for a p1 finish.

Qualifying was a disaster with me trying to make a gap in front of me but caught two guys shortly into my first lap. After two crappy laps I got one additional and caught someone midway through so I qualified with a 1:19xxx after lapping 1:17.5 in practice sessions.

Started P12 on the grid with @icycls right behind me. First 3 turns were typical chaos and I moved up to about p7 on the first lap. Ran softs first and worked up to p4 before I pitted on after lap 9 to grab mediums.

Settled in ok on the mediums after a couple of laps but I really wanted to see if I could pull off a 2 stop so I pitted again after lap 14 knowing I could run til the end on soft.

Came out of the pits right behind @icycls who was in p6 at that point. Chased hard and kept pressure on but he kept composure right through the end. 👍
On the last lap someone must’ve had an issue because as we came down the back stretch he became p5 and I ended p6. Super fun racing and glad I had a competitive group with no dirty racing to contend with.

Not sure if I would have done any better with a 1 stop and it doesn’t matter at this point because I had fun, tried a 2stop and liked my results with 103 points in a GT2 group.

GL all!

yeah, that was a good race with you! I got a run on you in the straight during your (1?) lap on cold mediums, hopefully my overtake was clean. You looked like you had better pace than me, but I kept seeing you fall back a few tenths every so often so I just kept doing my thing.

I had good space for the qualify, I just wasn't fast, so started P13. I never hit 18s during practice but thought I should have.

My goal for the race was consistency since my pace isn't great and I was just trying to keep it between the lines for 23 laps - mission accomplished, I got the CRB! I went conservative on tires with 13M/10S, probably could have done another lap or two on the softs, but I wouldn't have held @Gearbanger off on those worn tires. I also didn't think my mediums laps were too much slower, for me at least.

P13 to P5! (thanks to someone's dnf in the last lap) - that's Brands, keep it on track and you'll do okay.

Yeah it was a clean pass and it was good fun chasing you around for so much of the race. I kept hoping you were okay when I’d close in and that you had a little confidence that you’d not be punted by a fellow GTP member 😉 My mission accomplished. 🍻

You had good pace to keep the gap that was behind me until the end. I’m racing VR so I can only tell an ok gap by seeing nobody in my rear view which is how it was from my last pit until the checkered flag.

Well done.

I had to pit manouevre somebody on the straight in my last race, it's unfortunate because they had only ran me a little wide at the hairpin on lap 1 but they were very dirty at the rallycross race a couple of months ago, when you only get a couple of slots you don't have time to give people the benefit of doubt. I ended up P8 for 229 points which isn't too bad with my lack of pace.

I am a new low-end B/S driver, and it was my first-ever World Series event in the B/S lobby. I'm happy to report that it went way better than expected. There were surprisingly a big number of dirty drivers, people hitting each other even during the qualifying out-lap! For the first time, I got hit and spun out during a qualifying out-lap.

Due to rampant dirty driving, most people were not able to set a good qualifying lap, which landed me in 4th place! I easily got up to 2nd in the first lap. I don't mean to brag, but I have always been great during the first lap in every race. I'm happy to see that this remained true even after upgrading from C/S to B/S. However, I eventually fell to 5th place by the finish time. Everyone who overtook me did so by intentionally hitting me from behind and pushing me onto the grass, lol. But I am still very happy because it is already very tough to finish in the top 5 in the C/S lobby, and it was my first time in the B/S lobby. :dopey:
Used TC2 in the race and TC1 for qualification
I'm usually really light in the tyres but the front left soft was absolutely shredded by the end of lap 11.
Thank you so much for posting these two things. You wouldn't know it, but I always watch for your posts in this thread, and they have always helped me. When I woke up this morning, I was looking for your post. :D

I ended up using TC2 even in qualifying, though, as the car is rather difficult to tame on TC1. This new update has been a blessing for me. I used to be a terrible qualifier due to my dependency on the old TC1. The new TC1-2 is a huge improvement, and I am no longer a C/S driver. My live qualifying time was 1:18.6xx. During practice, my best lap was exactly 1:18.000 (also done on TC2).

Loved this race.

Unfortunately entered in GT2 as a B/S and only fighting for 87 points.

Q3 and came home in P2 after crashing all on my own from P1. 5 seconds back at the end. Did the 13M 10S and that worked for me. One and done. Very clean and respectful battles throughout, which was nice!

PD: "Happy April Fool's Day! Here's a car with a cheat button. Hope you know where to find it. 🤣"

Me: 😑 (not impressed)

Did one of these on the 2 account as I won't be available for the whopping three slots on the 1 account. Regardless, it was probably for the better as I didn't have much time to practice. Two laps on Thursday and about 10 today (I wanted to do 5x on RS and 5x on RM). My best time was a 16.9 so not exactly flying.

Still trying to work out these physics. Brands is not one of my strong tracks and the updated physics weren't really helping. Sometimes I'd nail a turn; next lap I swear I was doing the same thing but the car would just plow for days.

I wasn't able to put together a good lap in quali and started P5, using on the RMs. Got a good start, and all was clean going through S1 (as far as I could tell). Took P4 through T1; the top three were on RSs so they drove off. From there it was just mitigate P5 who was also on RS tires but just couldn't get a good run for a pass.

Eventually everyone cycled through their stops. Now on RSs I was catching P3 who was on RMs. Caught and passed on like lap 19 or something... so now I am P3 but P1 & P2 were like seven seconds up. From there it was just bring it home. Finished P3. One and done for me.

I really really hope PD reconsider the lack of time slots in GT1.

Yes there was a false start check. Those grid starts have red lights lighting up and then they go out. Whereas with no false start check the screen shows 3-2-1-Go.

I'm going to eventually get VR, but I'm really hoping they fix that leaderboard/differential before then.

It was worth about a tenth a lap mate, if that.

So after the lunch break I pinned that cheat button down. Lap times went from 1:25s to 1:23s.
Now unless doing house work gave me some kind of new driving skills, that is a noticeable difference!

Can you explain 🤔

I saw a car get ghasted in my last race at start for jumping the start.

GT1 - A/S Lobby - Nations Exhibition S4.R1

I grabbed pole by the slimmest of margins with a 1:17.5.

Started on softs and pulled away from the field. I was all alone on lap 9 when I pit for mediums. I just wanted to put my head down and not make any mistakes when suddenly someone appears in my rearview gaining quickly. He passed me on the outside of the last turn and I didn't fight it. There was an obvious tire difference. I was sure he was two-stopping or facing a 1' penalty.

Nope! He won by 20s. This guy was obviously out of his league since he started at the back of the grid! I wanted the win, but points-wise it was a great result so I'm not complaining. P2 for 187 points. I'm really miffed but wow, what a drive from that dude from the back of the grid! And here I was thinking I was ready to run with big boys if I ever make it to A+ LOL.

Didn’t have much time to practice for this but Brands Hatch was a solid track for me in GT Sport so I was still somewhat confident. I watched a Top 10 replay to get a rough idea of the braking points in the new RS 5 DTM and did a quick warm up.

I managed to qualified P5. My stints were 12S/11M. A few drivers had a bad start, including someone who jumped the gun. So I gained 2nd place immediately and held it for a while. Unfortunately, a couple of minor mistakes on my part caused me to lose it. And on my Medium stint, I lost 3rd to who I assume was on Softs judging by how quickly they caught up to me. I forgot to save the replay so I couldn’t confirm this. The rest of the race went by without anymore incidents however, and I finished 4th for 171 points. Can’t complain.
