Tried a few options for Saturday. Atenza doesn’t turn enough. Veyron was the quickest overall but still a bit cumbersome. G70 is lovely to drive as ever but a bit too slow, also the Ferrari and McLaren. SLS was about 3-4 tenths behind the Veyron for me but better through the bends so I’m going to use that

Just treating it as a Manufacturers race as we don’t have a Gr4 round this series, plus I’d already done a livery.

Never understood the complaints about RBR track limits. They're the white lines - it's how it should be on every track.

Don't go off track, you won't get penalised. Easy peasy.

And practice! first test race i got 5 penalties, 2nd i got 3, 3rd got 1 and today none. Learn the track and improve yourself.
Love this track but it is a challenging one.....

And as said before if you suck at this track then try to set the record for most track limit penalties in a single lap....might be fun too.
 
RB limit pens are annoying, but more so because I can't seem to remember to go slower through T1 than I think I should. This is because of all the boucing the car spends half the corner airborne not getting traction. It's the most important turn on the track so it's easy to push too much.
 
Seen a few of you done some testing for the Manus rounds.
Been doing my own lately and I’ve been mostly concentrating on Interlagos as I feel like this could be my best shot at a good result, but also factoring what could work at Daytona too. Decided already not to use the Toyota.
For what ever reason im fixated on driving the Audi. I keep trying cars and I always somehow find a reason to drive the R8.

Lap times so far, not sure of these are decent or not, but I know P1 is on a 31.1.
Supra - 34.1 - find this car struggles in sector 2, with understeer and then I get oversteer on some exits. Think I can dip into the 33’s
Audi - 34.1 - feel like the Audi is well suited here but the consistency puts me off. Not sure I can get much more pace from this car.
GTR 18 - 34.3 - understeer is awful round here. 33’s I think possible too
RS01 - 34.5 - never driven this car. Car felt pretty good and quick nippy.
Ford GT - 34.6 - didn’t really like the way it drove. Assume it will be quick at Daytona.
Jaguar (my 2nd pick after Audi) - did a few laps but didn’t like the way it drove round Interlagos, but I know it will be decent at Daytona.

Not done any race practice yet, but seen a few saying we have to fuel save in race 2?

As for Nations this weekend. I’m skipping this round. Would love to race but seeing it’s just a sea of Atenza on the grid is putting me off. Is the Lambo any good round here? I had some good success with this car on the RBR Short when they subbed it in when we had the pit lane glitch at Maggiore.

They’re not the white lines though. Watch the fastest FP replay at turn 1 and then explain how that doesn’t get penalized. If you can exploit the turn 1 limit correctly you can gain pretty much quarter of a second. But for us mortals it feels completely random.

I can’t make the Atenza work at all. I was going to run the Huracan but tried out a few others and have found the Ferrari to be very consistent and stable. I’m nowhere near the FP times I should be getting but the 458 is going to be much better in-race for me than the “metas”.

Agree see the Kie video, perfect lap time is only luck to be at the extreme limit of the x possible penalties nearly all turns but mainly turn 1, 2 and last one where you can gain 0,3s for each..

I’m with you there. The Atenza feels like a complete boat. Understeers horribly. I tried the McLaren and it felt amazing. Yet my lap time was a second off my Atenza time 😫

I'd try out the Veyron too, funnily enough with the brake bias adjustments that car turns in better into corners than the Atenza. I always struggle with the Atenza into hairpins, too much understeer for my taste. But the Veyron I found running +3 to the rear and it handles pretty nicely, and also it has some nice grunt on low revs, so you can sometimes shift a bit earlier.

Did a 1.37.2 with a bit of practice, I probably need a bit more pace, but still much better than the Atenza which was in the 1.37.6's. Also remember that there is a mandatory pit stop tomorrow. Always check the race details 🧐

Well I did try the McLaren and couldn't get to the grips of it, and since 458 is MR too I imagine it is the same for me. That's not to say 458 couldn't work. TOP100 has a few McLarens and 458 is pretty decent off meta choice at Nurb Sprint Daily B which is somewhat similar to RB Ring when you think about it. I need the 4WD to be able to go early on the power and I tend to go early on throttle too in general, which is why 4WD suits me on RB Ring.

My quickest lap is in the 458. I have a quicker optimal in the Atenza, but I’m consistently doing 36.9s in the Ferrari.
 
Think I’m going to have to disregard AMG/Merc from the full season choice. The SLS is just too slow now - I was getting drafted and passed by Audi TTs but couldn’t return the favour, nowhere near them even in the slipstream.

A lot of AWDs to go with the TTs in my race. Could only manage P12, best of the FRs. Pitted lap 1, had a few tussles, finished P10 on track. Promoted to 6th when 4 of the top 5 didn’t read the rules and pit. Muppets.

Only 50 points so round 1 still my top scorer. Doubt I can beat that this week whatever I drive. May go again just for fun in the Ferrari.
 
Did the 2nd attempt on the backup account - which actually has a higher DR at the moment. Decided to go with the Genesis G70 - was over a second faster than the AMG in both qualification and racepace.

Started P7, finished P6 against stronger competition than the first run. 59 points. Will try out the X next week, think this may be my new team.
 
I tried the Veyron in Nations , it is not a bad car but i didnt have much luck with it

qualification went awful , i couldnt even get any good lap - P12

race itself was nothing special just some punting , cutting as usual but i managed to get P8 if i did less penalties i would gotten a way better result but for me thats enough

mixed bag today. Was looking forward to using the Atenza in my Vaillante livery and was doing well in practice, so figured I could get a good result and an enjoyable race.

first attempt I was horrible, I did qualify pole for some reason but in the race I was all over the place. Could not get a decent lap or find a rhytm. Don't know what was wrong but I was so much slower then in my practice races and could not find my breaking points, often breaking to early. First lap I was fighting with an Italian Atenza who overtook me in lap 2 and then a Norwegian driver started to fight me. Both were very clean, although the Norwegian driver hit me hard in the rear but I think that was not intentional as he held back and did not make use of the contact to pass me.

Both drivers pitted early and I was alone for about 7 or 8 laps, and I sucked at each lap I drove. In lap 10 I was fed up and after getting a track limit penalty I did the childish act of quitting after a track penalty. :guilty: Not my proudest moment, and a bit silly ready as I still had every chance and likely would have had a podium at least. Anyway, hope the Italian got the win, he was fast and clean and deserved it.

I did not want to leave it like that so after some time I decided to have another go. In the second attempt I qualified 2nd behind an Austrian in a Ferrari. Start went well and I managed to keep up with the Ferrari, both just barely. He was about 2 seconds in front for 7 laps and then he went into the pits. I was alone again and doing a bit better laps then in the first race but still much slower then in all my practice. This time i decided to settle for that second place as the Ferrari driver had just been better all race so focussed on doing my laps as well as I could. Could only get a win if the Austrian made a mistake but in the laps behind him he showed no sign of any weakness.

Lap 10 i went into the pits and went I got out again to my surprise I was 3 seconds in front! Could not believe it and wondered what had happened. Crossed the finish in first and before I could ask the Austrian if something had happened he already left the room.

So checked the replay and he had no incidents or mistakes on track. But then I saw that in his pitstop he switched tyres while I did not and that costed him a few seconds and therefor the race. Sad for him but lucky for me. In all fearness he was driving better then me and deserved to win this race.

So got a bit of a gifted win. Still wonder why I was doing so much worse then in my practice races though....

I ran the 458 in my slot today . It wasn’t competitive against the Atenzas. Ran second last and only beat the other 458 in the race.

But something very weird happened, I was monitoring tyre temps and the tyres never reached optimal temperature. Particularly in qualifying, they were mostly in the mid 50s (I think 70 -75 is optimal). It was very noticeable in the handling as well. I don’t know if it was due to the track temperature, or something else was going on, but it meant my lap times were around a second slower than they had been in practice lobbies.
 
I’m failing to see the point of this weekend’s race. 12 laps with a clear meta car and absolutely no strategy? I thought these were supposed to be more challenging gong races, not sprints. And with only three slots to choose from I do t really feel like rearranging my whole day just for a really lame race.

Am I alone in feeling this way?
 
Hey, @Zorz (thanks for accepting the friend request ;)), I hope you enjoyed Cabel the Clown's latest performance, the One and Only that can screwed up the easy entry in the pit at the Red Bull Ring :banghead::lol:

At least the racing was good :rolleyes:



By the way, no races for me on Wednesday (only Saturday for this season), since i started driving school to learn how to drive in the real life :D

From P9 to P7 on first attempt with Veyron. Very aggressive racing out there. But I will give it one more go. Unfortunately messed up on lap 1 trying to pit. Someone sent it inside and I tried to give room but still had contact, so we both got a 3 sec pit entry penalty 😑 That's on me, should have just stayed out one more lap instead of trying to force myself into the pits. Without that incident, would have been fighting for P5/P6. Depending on where you are, could be worth to stay out a few laps. Many pit on lap 1 so seems like that is not how you avoid the traffic 🤔 Giving it one more go, may give it a third go if needed since this champ is apparently best 2 scores out of 3 count. And never tried next week's combo, so this could be a safer round to score some points.

You're not. It sure has the feel of a Daily C than a Nations race (and a boring Daily C to boot). If I am bored later I may do one... but I am not chomping at the bit.

I did like eight laps in the Supra to see how it was, then I did two laps in the Mazda... was almost a second faster in the Mazda.
 
During early practice laps earlier in the week I ruled out the Atenza It just had too much understeer for my liking. Funnily enough the Veryon seemed to handle very well. Go figure. So that was my tank of choice.
I qualified P4 with a 37.7 which was my fastest lap of the week. Not sure what bag I pulled that one from, but it is now decidedly empty.
First lap and the Veyron ahead muscles past an Atenza and I follow as they are slowed. They and the leader then pit putting me P1. I hang on for a few laps and hold off an Atenza on my rear. However they then nudge me in Rauch which sets up their push in Wurth to gain the lead. Not the cleanest of overtakes. They then get a 0.5 penalty in the last corner so I think I have a chance to get P1 back. Nope somehow I must drift wide at Schlossgold and spin it into the barrier. I must be the only person who can spin a 2 tonne tank! Thankfully I get it back around in no time at all. I chase down the group ahead and 1 lets me by only for me to drift wide at Niki Lauda and get a penalty. I don't loose any positions but I decide now is my time to pit. I come out P11 and am then back up to P9 when 2 more pit. I am in a battle when I land between 2 Veyrons exiting the pit. Despite my best effort I cannot get past the guy ahead who defends well and the guy behind turned his Veyron into a beach buggy meaning he lost time to us. I cross P9 which is upgraded to P7 when 2 drivers fail to pit. (People aren't going into the pits for fun! :lol:)
53 points in the end. Due to other appointments today that is all I had time for.
 
Race 1: Got spun on 1st turn 1st lap. Then two .500s for that last turn.

Can't change my final drive to make match the 347 hp knee capping BOP gives the Viper.

Oh and, it doesn't stop well.

Not having fun so far today 😕

A strangely unremarkable race. Just like "this meeting could have been an email", this race could have been a Daily Race C. And I am absolutely loving this week's Daily Race C at Watkin Glens. I like Red Bull Ring but driving there in 458, Veyron, and Atenza felt like a chore. After some practice, I understood the following:
  • I'm gonna qualify among bottom. Just no motivation to practice more and improve my times.
  • There's high chance of folks nudging you to push you into grass to go ahead. Decided to go with Veyron due to being much heavier than Atenza.
  • It would be better to pit at a different time than most folks to avoid waste of time in dueling, even if it means giving up advantage of drafting.
  • Many folks are gonna mess up pit entry, earning them 3 seconds penalty. So I practiced pit entry many times.
  • I had not thought about not changing tires! Many thanks to @MCL1974 for his post.
Qualifying comes around. Everyone else is in Atenza except for one Supra and one Mustang. I did qualify 16th as expected. Luckily still within a few tenths of bottom 5 cars' times, which means my race is not gonna be too bad. One quits before start of race, promoting me to 15th.

Race comes around. Usual punting and nudging on lap 1 from Atenzas. I hardly feel any of them thanks to the heavy Veyron. I pit at end of lap 1. I remembered not to change tire or refuel.

Atenzas start coming out behind me after their respective pitstops. Maybe due to pit lane penalty or maybe due to tire change. Did not bother to check replays. Two of them try to punt me from behind and nudge me into grass to get ahead but I don't feel much. Wish I could message them to simply go ahead instead of wasting their time hitting me. It is just faster for both of us this way. I was not even blocking them, was even giving them the race line. :D

Race ends and I'm 8th all because I practiced pit entry and remembered not to change tires or refuel. Very happy with this result and definitely not revisiting this chore of a race. :dopey:
