I gave Red Bull Ring two attempts, I'm not giving it a third. Really not a fan of this combo. :grumpy:

Pretty much the same complaints I had about the Honda Civic round at Suzuka a couple seasons back - sprint races where you have to push the car 110% all the time and it really doesn't want to turn make for bad racing IMO because it just leads to unrestrained aggression, and I really don't like that.

Add me to the people grumbling about the track limits as well. If it's meant to be the white lines, they should make it the white lines. So many times where I see people well over them and not receiving a penalty, yet when I do something similar I seem to be flipping a coin on whether I'm going to invoke the steward's wrath.

My first slot with @Cabelmania was going well after some mistakes in qualifying that compromised me a bit. I'd been catching up with the car that started P3 after we both pit on lap 1 and was jumping people as they pit until that happened, then I got a track limits penalty and everything unravelled. Falling back into the cars behind just started my downfall with divebombs galore, lots of push-to-pass and someone trying to pit maneuver me. Ended up P13.

Went again, somehow ended up in an extremely high level lobby (for my standards at least, and in spite of my DR barely being in A+ at this point) and just kept getting smacked with track limits penalties over and over. Finished P15, and that was the final straw that's bumped me back down to A. :indiff:

yeah, nothing really special about this race, but by saturday, I'm also bored with the dailies, so why not? I chose the lancer, just, because.

I don't know why or how, but I just don't feel at all competitive in any group.4, including most dailies. Just something about these (or I can't drive the metas!). P13 (or P12, I've already forgotten)

Anyway, I circled with @Gearbanger again, that was fun following your patreon moth! Most drivers around me were clean, no real complaints. Only one track penalty which I guess was enough to cost me the crb.

LoL

Yeah I agree with something to try but nothing to write home about.

I was hoping that I didn’t hold you back or cause people to catch and give you excess battling because of my mediocre lap times.

Lots of close chasing and being chased with only a couple of assertive passes on me. I think I only held up twice with a brake tap to let a pass happen to keep from causing a more dangerous overtake. Fun competitive racing.

I think we had 147 up for grabs which is a lot for this class. Was a tough group again for GT2 and I got to race about as hard as I could and like you, finished somewhere around p12 for a one and done.

Hope to see you again soon in dailies or we can always meet up again for Wednesday’s finale, although I won’t get to race until evening.

😁

Well that was a very good race I just had, and seems like everyone was competitive and raced cleanly (except that one person 😁). P4-P11 qualified within 4 tenths, that says it all. My 1.37.58 from first slot would have been no good here, but I did managed to do a 1.37.37 which I was very happy with, second best time of the week here. But still only enough for a P8.

The race then, pretty hectic early on but mostly clean. I pass a driver or two, and on lap 3 I notice a Belgian and Russian fight ahead and I managed to catch them up, and this was the turning point. While I could have stayed out, I wanted no part in a fight since that would cost me a bit of time, so I decided to pit in. Came out of the pits ahead of two pretty fast drivers, an Italian and Hungarian, so my strategy had worked. However they were faster than me so over the next few laps they got past me, just couldn't keep them behind.

However I managed to stay close to them just about, which was key. Driver after driver seemed to fall behind me, my strategy had worked to perfection, I noticed on lap 9/10! Still stayed close to the Italian and Hungarian ahead, they were fighting and took each some 0,5 sec penalties. And while I could have perhaps passed in the midst of their battle, I opted to wait it out, and to see how things unfold. And I did notice a fast driver on a secondary account (they did score 0 pts for this reason in the end), who started from the back right behind me, so I did not want to risk losing a position and heck I was running in P5.

Final lap started and seems like the Italian had picked up another 0,5 sec penalty! They passed each other back and forth and that meant I was right behind the Italian. I managed to stay close enough, and passed the Italian after he served his penalty for a P4 and 184 pts. What a race that was!

I did notice some punting, but for the most part it was hard but fair racing. This race shows the importance of smart racing 😎 Pick your fights and sometimes the best option is not to fight.

Race 2
Pass on running qualifications to start in back. Pit end of first lap, move up a few spots by letting the field spread out, get slowed up by a blocker, get around them, .5 on last lap turned in to a 1.000 at the end of the race.
What gives? Still moved up 3 spots.

If you are carrying a penalty at the chequered flag it gets added to your race time, and half second penalties get rounded up to the next whole second.

During qualification, I let every body pass, stayed far behind for a whole lap.
Then then I give it all I got, I have the track to my self, no one ahead. I qualify 1st!

During race, second position is faster, he overpass, I adjust and follow him the whole race. I don't think I can pass him.
On lap 10/12, I am still 2nd, I pitstop, I'm the only one in the front pack doing it. I fear I haven't read the rules correctly...
Come out of the pit 6th, 2 laps to go, I finish 5th.

Position 1 to 4 did not pitstop, I endup first position, I'm DR C, against DR B, that is a very good win.
I moved up to DR B after the race.

Feel bad for the first position, he was going to win this if he had made the pitstop!

I picked the Mitsubishi because I was most persistent with it.
Had one race each on both of my Accounts one low and one middle B/S.

Qualified P2 both time with a 1:37:5 and a 1:37.2.
Had a clean start at both races and very nice close fighting withthe guys around me.

Win both races in the end with late pitstops at L11 returning to track in a close P1.

I’m actually considering Mitsubishi for the Manufacturers Cup because it is always so consistent. It’s ticks all the boxes: HP, torque, weight-to-power ratio. It’s never the meta car so it’s always overlooked because it’s so consistently good-not-great, or maybe great-not-OP.

I’m failing to see the point of this weekend’s race. 12 laps with a clear meta car and absolutely no strategy? I thought these were supposed to be more challenging gong races, not sprints. And with only three slots to choose from I do t really feel like rearranging my whole day just for a really lame race.

Am I alone in feeling this way?
I skipped this round of Nations. I like the track, but I just didn’t have any real inspiration to compete in it. Watching some top lobbies on YT and it looks like even too A+ drivers didn’t really want to compete eother.

The main issue which put me off this round was the meta car issue especially in Gr4 cars. When they do Gr1 or Gr2 cars I don’t mind so much it been a meta race as they as they are limited choice cars, plus we don’t use these car much either, but when Gr4 has a wide selection of cars and 1 car is clearly dominating the leader boards I just feel like..what’s the point? Gr4 BoP at the minute is all over place. I thought in the last round of updates we had a fairly good balanced group of car (with the exception of the Audi TT). Next weeks Daily C will Mazda Atenza again I reckon.

As for the non pit stop, I dont mind that. I know it’s pointless but taking the pit stop at the wrong or right time can cost you places or gain you places. But i guess for the majority it doesn’t change much.

Ill be doing the Gr3 race at Grand Valley next week, seen as I never got the chance in the last Manus Series, but is it going to be a Supra fest?

I just don’t want to do another Race C with no tire strategy and a completely pointless out stop. Give us 20 laps or more and tire wear at least!

That was another point I was going to make, but forgot to add in my original post.
Why make this race 12 laps too? Yeah should have at least been 16-20 laps. Think everyone wants these GTWS events to different to Daily Races.

I am also considering the Mitsubishi Lancer in manu because it's all Gr.3. I was using it for several recent dailies and had good success at interlagos, reverse maggiore. You are probably conceding Daytona though. This was pre-update and I haven't really driven it since then. I couldn't match times at watkins on it. Still might choose it anyway.

Sounds like you’re having a tough time today With these races.
Yeah. But! It's called racing not winning. Besides, at least I don't have to buy tires or replace broken parts like with a bad day at the RC track. Take everything in stride. 😁

Honestly whose idea was it to make it so GT1 has a 20 minute race followed by a 2 hour wait until the next slot.

Absolutely terrible logic in this decision.
We are all on lunch right now. GT3 is the same way. I think it so you have to take care of your bodily functions. Like stints in a endurance race. Your no good to a team if you're tired, hungry or, need the restroom.

GT3 has a lunch break, yes, but GT1 literally has only 3 slots and they have a multi-hour gap between them.

To that I would say there are less of you "aliens" then the rest of us. So PD has to pool the worlds GT1 racers together to make the races. The gaps are likely so the people not in your time zone can get a nap in.

A DR is not alien level. There's 50,000 DR difference between low A+ and high A+.
That's the same range as E to A.

There's plenty of GT1 drivers to fill the slots, and there's plenty of ways for them to "funnel" drivers into certain slots if they want to do that without having a 3 hour gap.

Not sure what napping has to do with it. I don't think many people are napping between races.

Did my First Nations (the 8pm race) in ages despite hating the track and the car… I had to go with the Atenza because my practice times (1.36.0) in it were almost a second better than I could manage in any other car.

Qualified 9th with a 1.36.8 (I think it was top split - all A+ field, with holl01 taking pole with a 36.0). Worked my way to 5th, but then copped a couple of penalties getting too greedy on the final turn. Then I overcooked the pit entry and had to abort and pit the following lap, which cost me a few seconds. Ended up with 9th, and 190ish points.

Pretty happy - the racing was really clean, close and respectful. Had great fun! Some fellow forum members in there too.

That was an intense race when I was expecting a bore fest. It was a strong A/S lobby with one A+ driver. I used the VW Scirocco.

I put in a good qualy time (for me) of 1:37.451 and that had me P6 for the start.

The racing was close, tight, with not a tenth to be spared anywhere. I had some good clean battles with people. I was 3rd near the end but hadn't made my stop yet. I waited until lap 11 for a no tire, no fuel pit stop. Came back out in 7th with the A+ driver not far behind but he couldn't close the gap so I came home in 7th for 170 points.

Definitely below my typical top 5s and the points not that good but I have to be happy to be in a higher lobby. The racing was great. The top 9 were within 10s of the leader at the line. I need to step up my game.

Missed the first GT1 slot. Jumped into slot 2. I was practicing better with the Genesis so thought I'd go a little different. Fouled up qualifying and didn't get a clean lap and started next to last (14th). Quickly became apparent that the 30hp disadvantage all the Atenza's had over me was not going to make things pretty as they just strolled away on the straights. Made it up to 11th by the end but I'm going to have to relent and use the Mazda in the last slot. Did a couple practice laps right after the race was over and managed to go faster by another tenth or 2 in the Atenza anyway so we'll see if I can Q cleanly and get a better result.
