Grand-Prix-Classic

Rules
1) This racing league is by invitation only.

2) You may purchase or win as a prize any car used or new made after 1940 and before 1980 for an entry. No race cars or rally cars may be entered. You will post your entries in this thread, but you do not need to post its cost. It will then be placed in its racing class by BH-21. You may enter one car in each of the five classes. General classes are:
Code:
Class A ( 5 HP - 19 HP)
Class B (20 HP - 99 HP)
Class C (100 HP - 199 HP)
Class D (200 HP - 399 HP)
Class E (400 HP - Over)
Some cars do not fit this general classification.

3) All purchases must be posted publicly in this thread including parts and oil changes made later. Washing your car may be done freely. All parts are available once you can afford them except computerized controllers and racing chips and carbon driveshafts. Nitrous purchase and use in the Grand-Prix-Classic is banned.

4) You start with a base budget of 2,000 CR per car entered to be used for that car only.

5) Events will be handled in a bi-weekly manner cycling when time runs out or all times are in. Each track will be handled in turn, allowing prize money and purchasing of parts to be applied before the next race or race period. If a driver does not have a single time when all other times in that driver will be recieve a DNF for each entry not submitted.

6) All driving aids must be set to 0 on all cars entered. TSM and Anti-Lock Brakes and associated systems (ASM) didn't exsist on production cars till the early to mid 1970's. Then they were only available to certain makes and models of cars.

7) To drive a course will you use the Family Cup with the AI Difficulty set to the following difficulty level based on the weeks progression:
Code:
Weeks/Season AI Difficulty
--1 Week 0
2-5 Week 1
6-11 Week 2
12-14 Week 3

8) Times used will be a combined lap time that shows when you return to the main screen for that track, after the race, with a combined time for all racers that finished.

9) That combined time is what a driver will post and it will be compared to the other drivers combined times for each track. Tracks will be classified by their length using the following scale:
Code:
Track Class Length
Short Under 1 mile
Medium 1 to 2 miles
Long 2 to 4 miles
Grand Over 4 miles
Points will be awared at the following rates:
Code:
       Short Medium Long Grand
1st 6 8 10 15
2nd 5 6 6 10
3rd 4 5 5 6
4th 3 4 4 5
5th 2 3 3 4
6th 1 2 2 3
7th - 1 1 2
8th - - - 1
At the end of a race the points total will be multiplied by the rate for the grade of each track and it will add to a drivers budget for purchases that can be made for the next race or race period with the class the driver is entered in.
Code:
Short                           = x200
Medium                          = x300
Long                            = x400
Grand                           = x500

10) Trophies will be awarded for the top three positions at the end of season.

11) Weekly outside income roll chart.
Code:
Weeks/Season Base (CR) Roll
--1 Week 0 1D6 x 200 CR
2-5 Week 250 2D6 x 300 CR
6-11 Week 500 3D6 x 400 CR
12-14 Week 1000 4D6 x 500 CR

12) Random rolls will be made by BH-21 with real six sided dice or computer simulated ones for each entrant at the appropriate times.

13) If a driver isn't able to post all of their times for a given two week period he recieves a DNF for each track that they missed for that period.

14) All time submissions will be by Private Message to BH-21.

15) A family cup event should be driven in the spirit of a race keeping two wheels on the track at all times and minimizing collisions with the bot cars. Especially to preserve your car for the season.

16) Once cars have been chosen each driver may recieve a free close or super-close transmission if they chose to. This item will be added to their car record. Cars that do not start with sports medium tires but economy instead must stay on economy until other tires can be purchased.

How money we have to buy the cars and the rule 8. What count the place we finish or the time we take to finish the race?

To aquire your car you have no budget, just aquire it in GT4 any way you can, but it must be a pristine stock car with no additions to be entered. Your budget per car for the season starts at 2,000 CR and will increase with wins and go down with purchases like in the Sunday Cup.

This league is a bit different in driving the track blocks, you get two weeks to drive three tracks. When all the times are in for a track I will post the results, if not everyone has submitted their times by the end of the two weeks they get DNF's and we go on to the next set. The faster times are submitted, the faster we move on. Other then the two week period for racing three tracks there really isn't a set day to cycle this on, I'm hoping we can speed this along. Also remember each driver may have five cars entered in this, one in each class.

P.S. I forgot to mention no race cars or rally cars may be entered in this. There aren't to many that fit the time periods and they are a such wide range that it wouldn't be a fair competition. You can duplicate a car someone else enters though.

Thanks! Tomorrow I will post the cars I bought.

EDIT: I think I will do it now:

Class A: Subaru 360 '58
Class B: Triumph Spitfire 1500 '74
Class C: Lancia STRATOS '73
Class D: Jensen Interceptor MkIII '74
Class E: Shelby Cobra '67

Can I just make a suggestion? Next time put one category between 200 and 299 BHP because some great classic cars there that would be trashed by the 390 BHP ones of I choose one of them.

Fabmaru your Class C pick is in the Class D ranks. Pick one of the Class D ones to keep and pick a new Class C or leave it blank, Class C is the biggest class by way.

Thanks for the quick answer! I think I'll decline for this, as it would be hard doing three things at once and having to balance school. Thanks for the invite! I'll just stick to the Sunday Cup and Top Gear Comparo.

Unlike the Sunday Cup, see rule 16, every car is going to get a free part during the start up. They get to chose either a close or a super close transmission or not to take one. This helps cars with long gears, but does nothing for ones with short gears. Muscle cars may have advantages on short tracks but loose them on longer ones. The way the tracks are laid out we will vary track size from place to place, though each individual country is still sorted by length. Thus no one has a real clear advange for a full season only limited ones in certain areas.

P.S. I'm already at my limit of admining five classes as it is, with six I think my head would explode. So maybe next season.

The Stratos has less than 200 BHP so how it is a Class D car?

Naaah. Okay. But maybe not in the A Class. Count me in with a '73 BMW 2002 Turbo (C Class). :)

Because its that good. There are a few others, especially if someone picks a Ginetta G4. Remember also that all driving aids will be off, cars wheels will spin and they will be touchy in corners. Its as much about controlling the cars as it is about power.

OK then. I will go with the Jensen. I will post my class C car later or tomorrow. When I have time. :D

EDIT: My class C car is the Toyota 2000GT '67. Does this car count?
