The Special is not a race car, per se, but it is/was a VERY popular dragster. Remember the driving mission with the Supertird at Seattle? You could outrun everything else in a dead-sprint, but the Buick would leave you choking. The secret was in the corners. With the car being set up for drag, it couldn't corner worth a crap. Be sure that you're able to tune some turning response into the beast if you want to challenge the Shelbys.

If you don't intend to buy any parts, race all the three tracks and sit back and relax as the results come in.

I Changed my mind, I am entering two classes

Class D: Dodge Charger R/T 1970 (In the car list it says 375 HP)

However these may change soon

EDIT: No Class C entry

When is the deadline for entering a car in a class that we are not already in?

Two weeks from last thursday or when ever all of the times have been submitted for the three tracks in this racing period.

I'd like to enter the following two cars:

Fiat 500F '65 (Bianco)

Yeah, it's underpowered, but the "F" stands for "Flynn". How could I pass that up? ;)

Sports Clutch: 1500cr
Sports Flywheel: 400cr
Oil Change: 50cr

Total: 1950cr

Mercury Cougar XR-7 '67 (Polar White)

Oil Change: 50cr

Total: 50cr

I will stick with stock trannies for both. :)

By the way, if anyone hasn't yet noticed, all five of my entries are white. :P

Flynn77 and Fabmaru can you tell Ignignoc N Err and probably others about the no racing chips and computer controllers rule.

I also forgot to mention that all parts purchases must be posted publicly. Which Ignignoc N Err did not do as well and maybe others.

Igni has been notified via pm and e-mail. :)

Code:

Car: Nissan Bluebird 1600 '69 (supanish red) Group B
+2,600 Cr. Budget
-....50 Cr. Oil Change
-1,000 Cr. Weight 1
=1,550 Cr. Remainder

Next:

NOTE: The weight reduction brought the curb weight down to 708kg, and I used an additional 42kg ballast (-50 balance; nose) to rein in the car’s tail-happy tendencies. Total weight was 750kg.
Finally:
Code:
Driver: Ignignoc
Car: Chevrolet Corvette Stingray L46 '69 (burgundy metallic) Group D
+2,400 Cr. Budget
-....50 Cr. Oil Change
=2,350 Cr. Remainder
This is my car upgrade condition for my three entries.

Ok, we have quite a few times already.

I could post the results for Beginners Course Class A, B, E if Car-less gets a submission in. Class C has the most people left to submit and Class D has two with Skython11 being one of them. He has PS2 problems at the moment so I will not hold up a class post because of him. If going by my racing period schedule if you haven't submitted a beginners course time for any class by tommorrow morning your behind schedule. Several of the submissions so far have done every car and every track they could.

That first track was torture!

Despite my best efforts I don't think I ran a single clean race. For starters the autodriver stuck all four wheels in the grass coming out of the chicane during the parade lap - in every single race.

Then due to the utter lack of space anywhere and a single driving line, everyone was jostling for position at every corner. It was so bad that my Nissan 240ZG ended up going backwards into the wall on the outside of turn 4. Scarier still, my best race in the Shelby Mustang saw me crossing the finish line backwards!

The slower cars didn't get off scott free either. The Civic understeered into the end of the pit wall, and the Fiat suffered from a very slow start due to the autodriver getting badly out of shape exiting the chicane.

Then to make things worse, as I finished the second race in the AC 427 I realised that I'd only taken the winners total time for every previous race, and I hadn't won any of them. So I threw out all of the results I'd already recorded and ran once more with each car, this time remembering to add my time difference onto the winners time for each race - usually an extra few seconds.

So after 38 laps I only had one valid time recorded for each car except the maddest of them all - the AC 427 S/C. ...and those 'valid' times were all taken on the 4th attempt as I had been recording someone elses times on the previous 3 attempts. Are these times even eligible? Over to you Boss.

I don't think the Beginner & Motorland tracks were made for high-powered cars. Kinda comical to watch the Camaro SS careen into the barrier separating pit row from the track. :sly:

Well... I entered accidentally in the pit lane when getting used to the Cobra. But it was fun to see when a Viper crashed against it in the last lap.

Its funny on Motegi West, the low power cars like the Toyota ist lose control and veer all around the track!

When I was racing in Group C with the Europa, I had an incident with the Peugeot 206cc: I took the inside of the corner on the big sweeper, and coming into the main straight, he decided to stick like glue to my drivers' side door. Being on the throttle as I was, of course, the turn was taking me farther and farther out toward the pit entry, until BAM!!1 he 206 nailed the tire barrier and came from 60 to zero in less time than it takes to ask, "LOLWTFDUDE?!?"

BTW, on Motegi, did anyone else have any issues with the other drivers going OUT OF THEIR WAY to try to hit you as you passed them on the straight? I had the NSX run so far trying to hit me that he accidentally went off-road approaching the first turn while racing Group D.

:gtpflag:

Beginners Course up for all but Class C.

Finances have been updated as well. Class D has a pending listed, if he gets his PS2 fixed and a time in, then I will recalc, so figure your 200 CR poorer and you will not have any problems in Class D, it may be the same in Class C if Jet Badger gets a time in. If the pending ones are in by the time all times are in for the racing period or the two weeks expire they become DNFs.

I bought a Racing flywheel for my Jensen Interceptor. Spend 1,000Cr
I also bought a Racing Flywheel for my Shelby Cobra. Spend 1,050Cr Also bought a Weight reduction kit stage 1 for the Shelby. Spend 1,200Cr.

The results so far don't surprise me one bit.

My predictions for the series:
A) The Fiats will run away and finish far ahead of the Subaru's. My 500R should have the edge on Flynns 500F.
B) Will be very close with anyone having the chance of winning. Series champion will likely be decided by upgrade path.
C) The two Lotus' should do well, and the Mazda lag behind.
D) The Corvette should take the win, and the Cuda take the wooden spoon. Will be very close between the others though.
E) The Buick will be unbeatable in Class E if it is tuned properly early on. The 427's will be hard to pin down though. The AC has better traction and top speed, but the Shelby is ultimately quicker in the twisties if it can be tamed.

If anyone is curious about why Class C results for Beginners course haven't appeared yet, Jet Badger hasn't submitted a time yet. Skython11 hasn't either and is pending like in Class D due to his PS2 problems. This way he is in when he gets them resolved, wether or not he can't make the first set of tracks.

Some Classes could be completed completely but for one set of times from a driver, other Classes need several sets so its looking fairly well, only the Class C being about a day behind schedule.
