* checks thread for race notes *
* checks PM box for submission *
* sends overdue times in.*

A) I gave the little Fiat a quick oil change for 50cr and a stage 2 turbo for another 12,500cr taking the power from 19bhp to 80bhp! I then hit the track and very quickly hit the speed limiter - even before entering the tunnel! Cue three hilarious races of bouncing of the rev limiter.

B) The Civic also got an oil change for 50cr and this one got some Racing Hard Tyres for 10,000cr which allowed it to drive around everyone else as they slowed massively for and then slid around the corners. The extra grip was great but sometimes a bit much, resulting in mad oversteer under hard braking.

C) The Nissan was also treated to some fresh oil for 50cr and Racing Hard Tyres this time for 10,250cr.
Again I romped ahead of the competition but this time I managed to exceed the limits of the tyres - getting sideways in the tunnel and spinning the tyres exiting the hairpin.

D) What on earth possesed me to choose the Shelby GT350 for this class? 10,500cr on Racing Hard Tyres and it feels like I've just upgraded from economy to sports tyres! There's just no lateral grip at all. I'd say this car still needs work, but I don't think any amount of modifications will overcome its inherent faults. 50cr was also spent on an oil change.

E) The monster is still a beast. Like above I spent 10,500cr on Racing Hard Tyres and another 50cr on an oil change, but the car still got the better of me on the first two attempts. It was only in the final race that I was able to keep it pointed in the right direction and off of the wall through the tunnel.

The results so far don't surprise me one bit.

My predictions for the series:
A) The Fiats will run away and finish far ahead of the Subaru's. My 500R should have the edge on Flynns 500F.
B) Will be very close with anyone having the chance of winning. Series champion will likely be decided by upgrade path.
C) The two Lotus' should do well, and the Mazda lag behind.
D) The Corvette should take the win, and the Cuda take the wooden spoon. Will be very close between the others though.
E) The Buick will be unbeatable in Class E if it is tuned properly early on. The 427's will be hard to pin down though. The AC has better traction and top speed, but the Shelby is ultimately quicker in the twisties if it can be tamed.

Car-less, I'd love to hear further commentary on your predictions. :)

Times have been submitted. I brought a Stage 1 Weight Reduction for 1,100 Cr, a Racing Chip for 1,250 Cr, a Sports Exhaust for 1,550 Cr and a Sports Suspension for 3,100 Cr bringing the power up to 170 BHP and lowering the weight down to 1099 kg.

Racing Chips are illegal in this league Korza493. So you can either redo your times and resubmit or I will DNF you for the three tracks. Turn the racing chip off in your car or get another car.

After rectifing my slight issue, I have a Stage 1 Turbo costing 4,600, a Sports Clutch costing 1,600 and a Racing Flywheel costing 1,000 bringing the power of the Skyline to 204 BHP costing me a total of 7,200 Cr.

Is that on a new car, or in addition to the parts you've bought already? I'm going to mark them as addition to your previous parts minus the racing chip of course. Which makes you overdrawn by 50 Cr. You have the same options here as in the Sunday Cup. Beg for the money or remove something, we don't do defict spending.

I already send you the times! Why am I still in the times overdue post.
(I passed you in posts BH-21 :P)

EDIT:Looks like I'm not there anymore.

I'm allowing Smallhorses to join late with a Dome DOME ZERO 1978 into the Class D field. He is willing to be behind in points and upgrades.

Welcome to the fray! ;)

P.S. Your finances are updated and your fully integrated. So get out there and burn some rubber.

Sorry for the delay...

Motegi East completed and times submitted.

A) The crazy little Go-Cart was mad fun again, mocking the bigger cars as it ran circles around them. It desperately needs a proper gearbox to get above 78mph though.
B) I ended up chucking 40kg of ballast in the back of the Civic to try and get the rear wheels to follow the fronts. It cured the mad oversteer, but now it feels like I'm dragging a dead body around in the trunk. Suspension tuning might be a good idea if I don't blow my money on more power first!
C) It's weird how changing the tyres can make two very different cars feel the same. The 240ZG had the same handling issues as the Civic, so I tried the same quick fix - 40kg in the trunk, only in this case it made things worse. Reducing it to 25kg helped, but what I think this one really needs is downforce.
D) Outside of the city the Shelby GT350 was much easier to handle. Sure it runs out of gears around 120mph and takes forever to stop, but I didn't feel the same need to swear at it all the time. Better brakes might be in order if a weight loss program doesn't help.
E) The 427 behaved beautifully at Motegi - as long as you drove it in the right way. Half a wheel on the grass, or a heavy right foot in the corners and things could go horribly wrong. When they went right though, they really did go right.

Car-less, I'd love to hear further commentary on your predictions. :)

Would that be because most of them are proving to be right?

They are not based on the usual power and weight figures, but rather on the rankings I gave the cars when I drove them all.

That said;
BH-21 doesn't seem to be doing as well as I'd expected in classes B and E.
Korza doesn't seem to be able to get much out of the Nissan in class C.
My Nissan (C), Fabmaru's Jensen (D) and your AC (E) are all doing better than expected.

My Mazda sucks. >_<

Car-less, do you think my Fiat will ever be ALMOST equal to your own? Looking at stats, it appears that it might. :)

We are down to the 2 days of padding, if your final times aren't in by thursday, we move on to the next week in the race calender.

Will have a run at this later, if I can get the PS2 to stop giving Disk Read Errors. :ouch: It's getting old (2001 model!), boots up about 1 in 20 restarts! :indiff:
How many laps do we run? It's been ages since I ran a Family Cup event and I can't remember if there's a default number of laps selected or if it's possible to specify a set amount?
I'll also figure out what I can spend my 4K on for this "Tron" mobile! ;)
I've seen there's no NOS & no racing chips allowed. 👍
Anything else I should know?

^^

2 laps in family cup, difficulty 1 (for now), max. 3 attempts, no aids, the car have to have always 2 wheels on track and with the less collision possible.

A) Is the Fiat so small as to be invisible to the AI? All but the lead 2 cars tried to push me off the track even before the first corner. The only clean way to start this race would be to hold back and let everyone else scamper away!
B) As above I seemed to be invisible to the opposition. Then again, watching the replay it's obvious they are all idiots anyway. Somehow we ended up 5-wide within a few metres of the startline!
C) Finally, a clean race at Suzuka West against the AI but how is this possible? I waited for a fraction of a second at the start before hitting the gas, then as the pack swerved right I passed them on the left just before they swung back over. I then watched in my mirror as they ran each other off the track, finally finishing some 20 seconds behind me. In my excitement I then failed to save the replay :(
D) Again I tried to dart past the pack on the left but the Dodge Charger and Skyline made sure that the gap was not open for long enough. I just had to settle for the usual bump and grind for the first quarter lap. I swear this track is unsuitable for car racing due to poorly programmed AI.
E) I found another clean line through the pack but it required split second timing and inch perfect placing. Three attempts were unfortunately not enough to achieve it. Is it just me or are the AI on a quest to cause as many collisions as possible before the field spreads out?

You started off down a bit on power, and down a bit more due to my car being a 6.2 mile example. However yours is also lighter than mine. I guess it all comes down to the effect of the available upgrades.
I can say though that yours should be much closer to mine than to the subaru.

You might be out of luck with your PS2 there :(
I had to find a replacement after the lens gave up last year, and SVX I believe had to do the same more recently.

If you do get it running and would like some extra funds for upgrades I'm happy to let you have up to 6,500cr from my Shelby GT350 funds. I'd recommend spending it on tyres... 💡
