the F2005 is damn quick and i know better than to have hoped it wouldnt be as dominate as before but i guess the race will be the deciding factor...i can only hope this season doesnt turn into the michael & co show once again...

Saturday practice 2

Go Webber, go Webber ... he started that lap just as the time hit 0 so he only just put that lap in, very nicely done though ... first time he's pushed in practice I think :dopey:

I'm guessing Barrichello has had more technical problems - or they still haven't fixed the gear box - so bad luck for him

He beat his practice 1 tiem so I assume fairly hard.

And Barrichello's gearbox is the problem, he'll probably have to get into the spare car for qualifying and lose 10 places because of it. Ferrari didn't bring a spare gear box and now they must fix it rather than replacing it, which doesn't look likely before first qualifying. I think I read somewhere that they may try to 'nurse' the gearbox around the track for qualifying.

EDIT: I just read this beautiful quote regarding Montoya's injury:

Scotland's David Coulthard, meanwhile, had the last laugh. ''When fat people start exercising,'' the trim Red Bull driver jokingly told Reuters, ''that's what happens.''

wonder how hard schumi was pushing during that session?

MS went for a last minute run, hitting 28.4 in S1, but got stuck behind Coulthard so aborted his final run. So who knows what kind of lap he would've had. Could've been just track conditions improving though.

Edit: Barrichello isn't running till Q1. The team isn't certain how the rebuilt gearbox will hold up, so opting to not run in any of the practices. He will have a new gearbox by tomorrow though, ready for Q2 and the race.

bahahahaha. nice.

Ralf seems to have woken up to the fact that this is racing, 2nd in prac 2 & the times have been improving the whole way. Will be interesting to see if that was a one off for Webber or if the Williams is consistantly up there for times throughout the race

reading a news post from the formula1 website, seems ferrari (more to the point Barrichello) have paid the price for rushing in their f2005 for barhain, Barrichello had a dodgy gearbox & the team had no spares with them, had no choice but to repair it, which is why hes sat out of so many sessions. Has he gone out in qualifying yet anyone?

Alonso in provisional pole! I wish that red car wasn't up there though. Webber sixth, i have a feeling he can go faster than that two mclarens are up there as well.

M schumacher will win, or at the very least have a good fight for 1st.

Schumi will be there, but he will have the same problem as before: The tires. Bridgestone are a bit ****y now, and I think Schumi will start slowing down at the 2nd half of the race.

I bet if Alonso gets the pole or the 2nd grid position, he will win the race. If he doesn't, I expect Trulli, or Fisico to win.

Toyota and my team Renault beat out Ferrari yet again! I wouldn't believe you if you told me this was happening if I didn't see it for myself. So far, great frickin' season!

But, the new Ferrari is out there, now. How long unitl we can't hold them back? Anyway, I'm enjoying it while I still can. :)

It seems Trulli si destined to start in 2nd for the whole year, not a bad curse if you ask me ;)

Looks like quite a while to me, even though schumachers lap was quite fast the car still looks awful to drive, i was watching and schumacher locked his wheel going into one corner for about 100m, that won't be good if those tires have to last him the whole GP. Barrichellos gearbox also failed and they have to fly a new one from italy overnight, so the reliability of these cars are still in question and if anything else fails in qualifying tomoro they only have very limited spare parts for this car, so they might not be able to race.

Wasn't it Rubens Barrichello that locked-up on his way into turn 1? I don't remember Michael Schumacher having a lock-up at any point on his lap. However his lap was a little untidy, so it looks like there is plenty more speed to come from that F2005 👎

ya the F2005 seemed nervous in quali...the race will be very exciting indeed!

and i see Heidfeld continues to upstage Webber ;)

i always thought he was quite underrated...

Yeah, Mikey locked 'er up. He also took turns a little too deep and didn't handle the car like he usually does. The car is still very new despite all the breaking in and testing they did with it before racing her. That's why it'll take a few races to get the hang of it, and get the kinks out. But, I was surprised he reached third place with the new car. But, with all the testing, and preparing and delaying, you think they should have done better, for Ferrari standards that is. Again, I'm still surprised he got third, though.

I'm glad Toyota's big points haul last race wasn't a one time thing. Looks like they'll be scoring some more points with Trulli in 2nd provisional pole. Go Trulli!! :D

What is up with McLaren? They just seem to get worst and worst. They have the Toyota 2004 deal going on. Fast in practice and dropping off when it matters.

I was cheering when Trulli did his lap. Woke my wife up at 6am too I was so loud. I was a bit yanked when Alonso beat it...but I will admit Alonso looks strong, even with the mistake he was fastest.

What happened to Fisi?

I have a feeling MS's lap isn't showing Ferrari's real pace. I think they ran the car super super light or with less downforce...something just to get up the timesheets and make people wonder. I expect Ferrari to fall off on full race fuel and in the race. I think Ruben's lap was more the pace of the car (which is usually the case).

Williams...I hate to admit it but the car is looking pretty good. Better than McLaren! I was also glad to see Nick beat Webber (again)! Way to go Nick! Maybe Sir Frank will relize he has a real deal in both Nick and Webber and not jump for Button mid season (since BAR will be way down in the points allowing Button to jump ship). If Williams does take Button and replace Nick I'll loose the little shred of respect I have left for Williams AND loath Button more than I do now!

Christian Klein....he has been drinking his red bull this season...he is a completely different driver than he was last season.

So my updated predictions;

1 - Alonso
2 - Nick or Webber
3 - Trulli, MS or Kimi

im wondering what is up with Mclaren as well...maybe they still have a few bugs to sort out but at least they arent blowing up all over the place...trulli is a damn good driver, im hoping his race pace continues and he starts grabbing podiums on a more consistent basis...im sure fisi will make an appearance in the race, hes just like heidfeld in that he is very underrated...Ferrari is a question mark and id rather not speculate at this point but im sure this race will really define where they stand for the rest of the season...im glad to see Nick doing well too, hes been stuck in the lower rungs for far too long, he deserves this chance to prove himself...i would also be very disappointed in Williams if they dropped Heidfeld in favor of Button if Heidfeld continues to do well this season...but im not much of a Button fan anyway...Klien is doing well but Liuzzi showed his pace in practice...anyway Bahrain will be a great race...i cant wait!

That would explain how twitchy the car looked...
