Another great quote, this time reffering to the ban on Jewellery:

Jarno Trulli, meanwhile, said the jewellery rule would not affect him. ''Luckily, I'm not a girl,'' the Italian quipped.

The drivers are doing well this weekend ;)

check how close Heidfeld & Webber's combined qualifying times where, thats amazing how close they more. Now as Blake said time to get the hell out of this thread, i dont want any spoilers

Alonso!
Entertaining race and I'm very happy to see the new Ferrari has been brought too early. We must never rule them out, but zero points... Not good. Not good at all.

Good on Trulli!

Good on Kimi!

Good on de la Rosa!

WOW Alonso!

Sucks to be the Scuderia right now!

Sucks even more to drive a Honda right now!

Very entertaining race! Another brilliant run from both Trulli and Alonso. Lots of retirements, I wonder if it's going to effect the drivers who have to use the Bahrain engines for a second weekend.

Nonetheless, it felt good seeing MSC get pwned by his hydraulics. About time he had a mechanical failure!

*edit* Oh yes, it was also hillarious watching de la Rosa keep on outbraking himself! Great driver, but he really needs more experience racing.

Alonso is Schumacher succesor :) Trulli has been as good as Alonso, and de la Rosa has been the best driver today. He knows that was his only opportunity to do as good as he can.

Great Race!

Alonso had a great race and so did Trulli. De La Rossa eventually got it right, but it took a good few attempts. I don't know if it was Buttons fault in the pit or not but unlucky mate 👎

de la Rosa vs. Webber... Best dogfight in the last decade !... Good driving from Webber.. AWESOME driving by de la Rosa.. 👍

Good race. Bit boring in the middle, but the end was great. De La Rosa made the race, even if he did occasionally fancy himself as a bit of a Marcus Gronholm.

I think it was a mistake from Ferrari to introduce the F2005 so early - it may be slighty quicker than the F2004, but if it doesn't finish the race then it's useless.

Disappointing from BAR, who have terrible reliability and aren't that fast when they're moving.

Good drive from DC, even though we didn't see any of it, to get a point from the midfield. Barichello was going well from the back of the grid too until his gearbox started playing up.

 de la rosa

That was the best race i've seen in years 👍 👍

and congrats to Toyota for there best ever finish in a GP 👍

I didn't know his son was born today

Maybe he rang in sick :)

"Oh can't come to the race this weekend, err i fell off my motorbike whilst etampting a big jump and playing tennis at the same time"

Great race! It turned out to be pretty good race for McLaren too! Go Kimi. De La Rosa really was the star of the race. Very impressive driving. Good race for Renault too, even though Fischichella retired. I think Renault could get the championship this year.

Toyotas huge budget is finally paying off. I'd say Toyota is this season's BAR :D. Speaking of which, what has happened to BAR? The cars seem to be both slow and unreliable.

But this was the best race for a long time. Lot's of overtakes (thanks to De La Rosa) and no Ferraris on the podium :D

Montoya missed the grand prix to watch the birth of his son. He will be at the next race.

I've looked for news on this, but no montoya missed this race (and possibly next race) with a shoulder injury gained by playing tennis (or riding a motocross bike), it just so happens that his wife is pregnant

Why does everyone hate ferraris?? I mean i didn't like it when they were winning every race but give them a break they are struggeling at the minute to get good balance out of there car.

I think BAR were just lucky last year, now they have to make the engine last two races they have no chance, and i heard that the front wing is ruining the air flow over the rest of the car. So they have to design another one which should be ready by monte carlo.

Connie Montoya.....mmmmmm, aaarrrggggg, mmmmmm!!!!!

The first I heard of Montoya missing the race due to her due date was today. The Speed channel guys were talking it up. They also had Peter Windsor in the pits asking around about Montoya. No one he talked to actually believed Montoya really hurt himself playing tennis...

Montoya will be racing at Imola. Especially after de la Rosa's race. I bet he doesn't want to leave his seat open too long with Wurz hungry in the pits too. Afterall JPM hasen't exactally set his McLaren career on fire thus far...

but back to Connie Montoya.....mmmmmmm, arrrrgggg, mmmmm!!!!

I don't hate Ferrari either. In fact I respect them quite a bit and they are F1. That being said they have been the dominant team for the past 5-6 years. Due their their team structure, spending and development. Also all the other teams never could seem to pull their thumbs out of their butts long enough to ever really challenge them.

So this season seeing Ferrari struggle is interesting. Renault beat Ferrari at their own game this season (slow refinements of their team and car, not ground shaking changes like say Williams have tried in the past). Ferrari aren't just struggling. They are taken aback, embarrassed, knocked on their butts with no clue. How many years has it been since we have seen a new Ferrari fail, sure the f2003 took a few races to get right but it still dominated. Fact is that Ferrari paniced and rushed their new car when it wasn't ready. Why wasn't it ready. They got lazy and cocky over the past few seasons.

That being said I fully expect Ferrari to be back to their norm by mid season. However I think it will be too late by then for them to mount and challenge to either title. Never count Ferrari out. If anything their main issue all season will be the Bridgestones. They will nail their car and we all know MS and RB can win...but those Bridgestones....hmmmm.

BAR on the other hand. Last season was total luck on their part. They made a fast car (that they still have no clue why it was so fast) and lucked into a situation where all the other teams failed. They capitalized on it but it was a fluke.

Remember about halfway through last season when the other teams were figuring out their cars and getting speed back BAR's results dropped off drastically. By the end of 04 the season they were mid packers at best. However by then they had already earned so many points early on that it didn't matter.

Toyota is not the BAR of this season. I think Toyota's success is based more on solid engineering and slow and steady progress. They are holding their own with two great drivers against teams that are doing well. Sure McLaren and Williams are having slight issues, but nothing like any teams did last season. Toyota is also holding close to Renault.

Point is is that Toyota's current success isn't a fluke due to other teams failing, like BAR's was last season.

I'm still not 100% convinced yet that Toyota is the real deal thus far but I am 85% there now after this race.

I don't hate Ferraris, they _dominated_ last season so bad..
It's good to see some fresh teams on the podium, like Toyota.

The commentators on the british F1 TV show said that it is unlikely montoya will be back for imola.

Sorry, RSCosworth i assumed that you were one of those who hate ferrari because they have won for the last however many years. :ouch:

and i totally agree it is good to see toyota on the podium, even if it cost them $1billion to get there 👍

Montoya couldn't drive because of his shoulder wich he injured playing tennis, this was confirmed by Norbert Haug during a live interview on RTL.Whatever else you hear is bullcrap.

Anyway, the race was great.A few excellent fights between Pedro de la Rosa and Mark Webber and also between de la Rosa and Barrichelo.Pedro was the man of the day. 👍

Alonso had a good clean run, drove pretty much undisturbed to his 2nd victory this season.Things are looking really well for him.I do feel sorry for Michael. If they had only replaced his gearbox before the race like they did for Rubens i think he wouldn't have had any problems.I don't know if he could have won but he for the time that he was racing he was quicker than Alonso.

Overall,a very good race in my view.Looking forward to Imola where i think BMW Williams is going to shine.Their car was always competitive there so i think we'll be seeing them right up there with the Renaults, fighting for pole position.

I'll post this anyway

McLaren have confirmed Juan Pablo Montoya will not race in this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix because of injury.
The Colombian driver suffered a hairline fracture of the shoulder when he fell while playing tennis last week.

After further examination, the McLaren medical team have advised Montoya to rest and test driver Pedro de la Rosa will race in Bahrain instead.

"Driving a Formula One car is hard and would be impossible to do with my injuries," said the 29-year-old.

I was wondering why they didn't do this, would this be against the new regulations??

It was great, altough I thought Webber's driving was a bit cheap. 👍
