Any tips to beat the Gr.1 race with the no-stopping McLaren that starts over 30s ahead?
Yeah, put it on Easy difficulty. Some of these 10 lappers are pretty inexcusable.

Yeah I had the same issue on the S3 experience, it took many attempts until I finally understood the concept, only important thing is the exit to the main straight. Tunnel more or less, you can take whatever line you want, but the exit is the key, to floor it in 3rd gear as soon as possible and you're good.

yup. the exit from the chicane is all that matters. you can run over the curb very slightly to help you exit a little faster, but the orange poles will kill your run.

I cannot figure it out. Think I've nailed it, right on the bumper of the ghost and yet it pulls away those few tenths.
Are you in 3rd through the chicane, or in 2nd and then shifting up straight away?

stay in third. don't use second anywhere on the course, it breaks loose too easy.

Just my thoughts.

New layout is really good aside from the narrowness.

New location is beautiful, but I don't think it should have been used for this particular track. GV has always been a permanent, closed circuit with the kerbing, runoffs(sorta), and infrastructure that comes with a permanent motorsport facility.

This new location makes it feel more like an Assetto Corsa canyon free-roam map and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Also with how barren the whole place is from a grandstand point of view(ESPECIALLY in Time Trial mode), it just reinforces the feeling of being on an AC free-roam map and not actually being at a racetrack.

This is going to probably sound monumentally stupid but I am hoping a bit that the actual Grand Valley Speedway makes a return later in the game with the Highway track being sort of the "inspiration" for the permanent facility.

I went to the used car lot to buy 19 different R32 Skylines and they only had one!?!?

I beat all the Sunday Cup races and I didn’t get a Mazda Demio A-spec!???

The music doesn’t loop every ten seconds!???

Grand Valley looks different!??!!

This isn’t even a real Gran Turismo game. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

2/10

I love narrow tracks personally. I hope they bring back Costa Di Amalfi next.

Bit late to the party here but I didn't expect such a revival for Grand Valley. Placing it in a brand new location sure is ballsy but it's still pretty much the same in terms of overall flow, which I like.

It is a great homage to GVS and both great to look at and drive. Good addition to the game for me.

However does it "feel" like GVS for me it's a no. The layout is faithful but it lacks the feeling of the old one.

Doesn't feel like it at all.
I know what you mean, the overall layout is similar enough to use the name but the changes that have been made to the corners combined with the elevation changes and the differences in scenery really throw you off. The bridge and tunnel after the chicane are what did it for me; that section is nothing like the original track.

Not good...There is no new track Grand Valley. The track has been changed too much!
Example, the Deep forest and Trial Mountain tracks were not changed too much, but why did or should you change the classic tracks?
New short Grand Valley not good.

I maybe the only one, but the short old Grand Valley track was one of the best.
I want the classic Grand Valley is back.

Didn't remember people complain that much when we switch from PS2 to PS3 and a lot of tracks environments changed.

If you're locked in nostalgia, just play the old games.

I really like the fact that they got rid of the old chicane, it killed the flow of the track too much.
I certainly don’t recall complaints because I wasn’t even on the net until 2006. ;)

I do sympathise to an extent.

It's like having your favourite song covered by Ed Sheeran.
This is a near perfect analogy! Like, it's still listenable and it's still your favourite song, you can still sing along, but it isn't The Beatles version.

I have spent a lot more time lapping it, done the circuit experience to gold, done 3 of the events there, and while it doesn't look like Grand Valley did before, it certainly still feels like Grand Valley, and really that's the most important thing, the layout still has that familiarity and still feels almost second nature from playing it so much on previous games. I much prefer the final sector as well, the chicane is a lot more satisfying to attack and push right out on the the sand and the sweeping bends o ver the bridge into the final turn are also satisfying and fun. So now I'm over the initial shock of the environmental change, I can get on with thoroughly enjoying this circuit again.

I'm also now convinced it was very deliberately chosen to release alongside the VR update, not just to give us this big update that satisfies everyone, but having watched a few videos now of people playing Grand Valley in VR, it appears to be very much geared towards that experience. Especially with the more undulating nature of the track, the open vistas, open sided bridges and so on, looks very much like they wanted this track to be synonymous with the VR update.

Exactly that.

I’ve been putting more miles on GV and I’m enjoying more and more.

I think having a good car for the circuit helps enjoy it more and for me it more suited to 200/300 HP cars. Especially for the middle sector where the lower power helps get the flow back.

Personally I’ve been really enjoying the Clio 220 with my personal set up based on what I can find of the Cup Cars.

IMO it’s a little bit like what happened with Project CARS 3. By using the name “Project CARS” or “Grand Valley Speedway”, you are inviting certain expectations based on what has gone before. If you deviate too far from that, people don’t always like it.

It’s not to say that Project Cars 3, or the new Grand Valley Speedway are bad as such, it’s just their branding doesn’t reflect expectations.

My thoughts on GV are that while it looks nice, it didn’t really need to be changed so drastically. As one of the most fondly regarded original tracks, little was wrong with it. If PD want to have a track based around Highway 1, great, they have proven themselves pretty handy at designing original tracks over the years, so why not do that this time? GV could have been given a next gen shine up and everyone would be happy.

There's no night option for quick race or time trials, but if you set up a custom race, you can set it to night time.
The track looks amazing at night, specially the tunnels.

And I see that PD could pull off a Touge/Mt. Akina roadtrack if they wanted to, it would be very popular with the lobbies.
(I got a night cruise lobby filled with 16 players in less than 10 minutes)

Perhaps that's how they'll reimagine Autumn Ring one day.

Really like the track. In the future they could add 2 more layouts I think.
First sector of Highway 1 with the last sector of South and the first sector of South with the last sector of Highway 1.

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Grand Valley: How Gran Turismo’s Legendary Circuit Has Changed for GT7

One of the biggest items in the v1.29 update for Gran Turismo 7 is the reappearance of the famous Grand Valley circuit after a little over five years away...
Was talking about this with my friend yesterday, reliving in my mind how I remember the last section of the course being very different. Watching that comparison video confirms my belief.
Not a fan of the new last sector. I mean, I guess the little chicane is fun but its not the same. The old tunnel felt like it went on forever and was fast. Now it feels shorter, sharper, and the incline means the rear wants to break traction a bunch. You lose the small straight section which felt like a mental preparation window to the left-right hairpins.

I do really like the South course though. Even if it isn't exactly the same, it still feels fun.

Something I would love for them to do as an easter egg or special anniversary thing: Make an original version of Grand Valley with the GT2 PS1 graphics. Obviously the cars would be hi-res and what not. But it'd be a fun way to get the original course and also something really cool and fun to play on.

The new look is growing on me but it's such a strange thing, the elevated photographs really show a pretty/scenic track but when I'm driving on it it's hard to see anything scenic! It's weird how empty it feels in places. The phot shots of the bridges looks really cool but when I'm driving on it I don't see any of that. I wish they'd added a bit more elevation changes so the track had better views when driving.
