Grand Valley Returns to Gran Turismo 7

St Croix is a gorgeous track when seen from above. Unfortunately in the car all you can see is guard rails. They really should have eliminated them in places and made them shorter where they were actually needed.
Actually my problem with St Croix is low-poly track markings and limits. I think the place looks amazing, and the water, bridge, all of them are great. But those track markings look bad, if only there were no white lines on the track, it could look more like a country road.

Maggiore looks amazing on the PS5 though, just off one lap here, have no idea if Mariangelo has mistaken it for other tracks. It was one of the remastered tracks from GT Sport, it looks really different on GT7.

Any tips to beat the Gr.1 race with the no-stopping McLaren that starts over 30s ahead?

Yes, I meant Maggiore, because for me it's such a "meh" track, graphically nothing interesting here, only weird oversaturated low-res trees and Sardegna. I already added a comparison between old Matterhorn track from GT6, where, for example, the rocks on Sardegna in the background are simply insufficient. Both are generic and dull tracks for me. I mean in terms of graphics, not driving, of course.

But I understand and respect that you like it that way.

I won't name it return, because it doesn't feel the same as the old one, which I've raced on for the last 25 years. For example, Trail Mauntain is Trail Mauntain but just much more beautiful in GT7, but the new Grand Valley is just a new track that I like and have to learn.

Anyway good update from PD, keep the good work. ;)

I am surprised, they actually made a nice looking road track that actually conveys the illusion that is a track made on public roads. That has to be first.

The layout is also great, it helps that they used the best circuit layout from the OG games, there was no way they could have messed this up.

However, I still don't like that they used the Grand Valley moniker for this, and the one other change I don't like is that this track is narrower that the OG track, and some of the new elevations threw me off at first as I can't use my old racing lines anymore.

It's a great track for driving slower cars, specially topless cars...But feels off to drive anything faster, that Gr.1 race is ****ing hell because of the narrower roads.

Just did the circuit experience. TBH barely a single corner that felt good, always feels like one is tripping over ones self rather than attacking.

TBH I am not a fan of these undulating mid speed corner fests like GV or Deep Forest or Alsace etc.

UFO has been spotted in Grand Valley abducting a poor distracted otter. Aliens are among us 👽👽

Grand Valley now being located in a grand valley (literally) makes me fear what PD might do next. Midfield Raceway in the middle of a field and Apricot Hill on a hill full of apricots? Time will tell.
Thankfully PD didn't have any input on Notre-Dame Cathedral reconstruction, Seattle Circuit might get turned into dirt track next.

I felt the same way! The corners in the 2nd sector are just the worst, it feels like pure luck whether you'll get a good line through them. Then because there is barely any run off area you immediately fail the experience for just existing near the barriers. It's a shame as that 2nd section used to be great but now it's like cornering in treacle.

Liked a lot.
Player since original GT, welcomed the change of scenery. Sure, some nostalgia is lost but, after all, the very green mountains were to much look alike between Grand Valley, Trial Mountain and Deep Forest, at least now some different scenery.
Also, the changes on the layout make the whole thing more natural and flowing than the original thing.

The game desperately needs ROad America (Elkart Lake). A traditional circuit with traditional corners, no gimmicks. All these rolly poly circuits and even Road Atlanta, very MEH to me.

In my opinion, the best suggestion I read was from @Nielsen.

Choosing the California Highway as the setting was a wise one, but it was an unfortunate decision to subvert the GVS to serve this purpose. It was unnecessary violence to the affective memory of the fanbase.

It was preferable to create a new track, a new circuit, taking advantage of all these thematic elements of the Big Sur region. That is, just like the PD did with El Capitan - a fictional road circuit that takes advantage of the scenery of the big boulder of Yosemite.

And then leave GVS with its thematic characteristics, like a permanent circuit, but with slight realistic adaptations, more modern and adequate according to the graphic potential of PS4/PS5.

One of the things I liked most about the classic GVS was looking for the limit of the trace by exploiting the kerbs. We won't have that anymore.

PS: I don't know why, but I always had the feeling that GVS and Autumn Ring were located in Japan, due to the mountainous region. It would be a welcome addition to the roster of Asian circuits to balance distribution, if it kept it that way. To fill out the roster of the Americas, it could bring back El Capitan and this new Big Sur circuit.

After having driven the track by now myself, I seriously wonder what this track has in common with Grand Valley..like...AT ALL, except the name?!

Okay So I spent a few hours playing this course. Did all the available events, plus the circuit experience.

Had the most fun with the WTC600 event -- my challenge to you guys: try to win it with the Tesla, any setup! Pretty fun and challenging! Chasing down the 911 GT3 in a 10-year-old Tesla is NOT easy, but it is doable. I won by about 4 seconds.

However, I had a LOT of trouble with the 950PP Gr.1 Prototype event. Eventually won it with the Red Bull Junior 2019 car, on RMs, FM1, slight ballast and slightly reduced power (I think about 96), to get it under the PP limit and fuel efficient enough to only pit once. But it was tough. I didn't have any room for serious error.

As for the track itself:
A+. Once you get those turns down, it actually has amazing flow. Some of them aren't super intuitive, but the circuit experience helped me work out optimal lines and brake points to really enjoy the course, and I love the extreme changes in elevation. (hint for the circuit experience - use TCS 0, and avoid second gear).

The visuals are an A+ as well. I get that this is a piece of nostalgia for a lot of people, but friends, the old Grand Valley looked really boring and generic. This new version is stunning, just a tremendous improvement. Also, I suppose I must have my screen brightness turned up higher than other players, because I had zero trouble seeing the road in the tunnels.

As for anyone who says it's not the old Grand Valley, well, yeah, that's definitely true. I'm fine with that though.
