Even if they are, that still meets the definition of "valley."
Good to know. I actually live next to a valley that has a highway at the bottom. I figured water at the bottom might use a different word, like ravine or canyon.

*Edit - Indus River Valley. So famous, yet it didn't occur to me.

It's great to see that Grand Valley has returned to this franchise. Several months earlier, I had created a scape photo that reads "Bring Back Grand Valley Speedway" with hopes that the track would return one day. With this update, it came into fruition, albeit with a slightly different layout.

There is also Hwy 1 in California. Known as PCH with bridges and ocean views very similar to what is seen in the trailer. PD has been on a kick of making the tracks more known as to the actual location they represent. I.E. Trial Mountain being Yosemite National Park.

On a different note, it's good to see a VGT car that is for offroad this time.

This is straight out of GT3/4, in terms of how it’s less of a traditional closed circuit design. Don’t get me wrong, they’re great, but man do I love these kinds of scenic tracks. That’s not to say typical circuits aren’t set against good backdrops, but this reminds me of El Capitan in that the scenery is a huge part of the course.

Am I the only one getting Forza Horizon 2 vibes from the new Grand Valley?

I'm not pleased at the scenery change but I might warm up to it when I first drive on it (for one lap before I put GT7 away for a month).

Ngl as much as I'd like the classic tracks to be more like original... this looks incredible! Can't wait to blast around in a 2.7RS!! Also a Citroën DS21! Dream car for me! Is Sophy going to be added to the full game? Mentions a limited time game mode?

...why renaming original track from Raceway to Highway? And what for is 1 at the end?
One would assume it’s due to differences in their environments.
The original was set in a different location with forests and valleys
The new is a highway set by the ocean.

Pacific Coast Highway is the stretch of State Route 1, Highway 1 or Shoreline Highway, the longest coastal road in California, United States, which connects the towns of Dana Point and Leggett. The name Grand Valley Highway 1 is explained by the road's original name.

I am positive Sophy will be added full time someday in the future. For now it’s a limited experience for about a month to gain feedback from players.

The more I look at it, the more I feel the track should have been named Pacific Highway. There was no reason to slap the iconic Grand Valley layout into an environment that doesn’t resemble its origins in the slightest. I actually feel emotionally hurt that Grand Valley as we knew it is gone. At least they tried to preserve the old vibe with Trial Mountain and Deep Forest.

I wonder what they will do with Autumn Ring, Apricot Hill and Midfield Raceway.

Considering all of them had sizable revamps in GT6, not alot apart from visual fidelity and a few tweaks if High Speed Ring is anything to go by.

What bothered me was the extremely narrow road, without kerbs and run-off area, only with guardrails close to the track, protecting cars from chasms and cliffs, mainly in the hairpin. Despite the aesthetic appeal, scenic visuals, the realistic appeal is stolen from me and this causes me discomfort.

I really liked the last section of the original GVS, with that high-speed corner, followed by a tight chicane and ending in a fullthrottle corner. Like Deep Forest, PD seems to have modified the final third of the circuit for the worse.

For a guy that was reading about gran Turismo 1 development from PSX magazines back in 1995 to playing it in 1997 and spending 1000s of hours on Grand Valley Speedway throughout my years I totally welcome this new version of the layout.

Look, this is 2023 not 1997. This also is PS5 not PS1. We got VR2 on this track.

I think the changes are absolutely fine and personally feel they will be better than the original.

The layout is very much Grand Valley. Personally I feel the new landscape environment is a welcome upgrade.

Just go back and look at the old track on GT6 …. Yeah man the sea side location is much better.
