The emphasis on coastal scenery is sure to ruin the element of nostalgia for me. I liked the old location, but this is only a familiar layout in a completely different place. The world has enough games with a scenic coastal highway.
Maybe merging with race track elements, such as the run-off area and kerbs, as are the roads of La Sarthe, could please Greeks and Trojans. I confess that these curves at high speed and on the cliffs take away a little the feeling of immersion due to the lack of verisimilitude.

But I'm pretty sure GT has never had a scenic coastal highway circuit? Tahiti Road is close but those are moreso normal roads than a highway...

People cry out for more variety in GT7's tracks, they get it, now it's suddenly a problem??

Is the same circuit but with reworked environment and some other new things.

You can see the classic Grand valley Speedway layout there, the U curve, the classic corners before the first tunnel and the left and right curves before the classic bridge.
The Maggiore hairpin always reminds me of the original Grand Valley Speedway hairpin. I did wonder if they took that part of GV and the following left hander for the Maggiore track. The hairpin in this picture looks off-camber and then on-camber. I can't wait to try it.

Edit: It may just be picture angles, but the track also looks quite thin in the GT40 photo.

“People”. These are different individuals with different opinions, so implying I’m a hypocrite is just super weird.

I am so incredibly hype for Grand Valley to return! Nothing else in thiis update interests me at all. I can't do VR, don't care about the cars they're not cars I want to drive, but OMG Grand Valley!!!

Now if only they'd bring back the 300KM race there I'd be a happy HK :D

It says Grand Valley Highway 1 in the trailer

The sign in the video says Grand Valley Speedway. More to come in a future update🤔
Good point! I was guessing it was going to be a completely different layout only sharing the name but this has me reconsidering...

I thought so too initially but now I've been thinking that maybe it was a late name change, and the video has the old name and the images the new name... But we'll find out tomorrow

Well I'm glad the layout is finally here, but I don't know about these new changes.

For starters, it's not a Valley anymore, it's a coast so the name is just wrong now.

Secondly, This looks like a circuit made on a civilian highway emulating the Pacific Ocean Highway, and if it's anything like Saint Croix or Sadegna, it's going to suck at emulating a circuit made on civilian roads but that's more of a pet peeve of mine.

I'd rather get the old circuit touched up, isn't this game supposed to be all about nostalgia for the old fans of the series? Because it's butchering all over it.

Well, the Porsche and the Citroën DS are interesting at least.

That Honda RA272 creates a completely new racing class/scene in the online races. That why i have wished they would give us one Nascar, Legends etc. - livery editor takes care of the rest in a whole new "class" of racing.

Okay, so in less than 72 hours we went from "I bet this update will only bring the VR update that only 1% of players will experience, PD sucks" to "Grand Valley is finally back, this looks like the best GT 7 update ever, thank you Kaz, I'm so hyped":lol:
And then back to "this new Grand Valley sucks."

Though I am a bit annoyed that there don't seem to be any valleys around.

It looks like it has atleast Sunny/Sunset so I hope they included nighttime aswell as it will be amazing to see how the tracks looks at night, so far I am very impressed with the new look of the track.

This update looks fantastic - what an inspired choice of locale for Grand Valley, it almost has "El Capitan at the beach" vibes.

+1 here - a "generic Stock Car" would do that nicely.

It's one of the interesting things about iRacing - focusing on just one/two/three cars in a particular class to get a well rounded grid for a particular category.

Any words if it'll have date/night and weather conditions?
I bet we'll have day/night, that beautiful scenario will look amazing at dawn, sunset and night, it's an incredible opportunity to showcase the beauty of the game in VR. But, unfortunately, I doubt it'll have rain available, otherwise they'd probably show it in that trailer. And btw rain still hasn't been added to other circuits since the game released, it's a shame 😞

Wow, never expected all this in 1.29. I have a PSVR2 on pre-order too :-D Grand Valley looks awesome too- no complaints about PD making changes to give some more track variety. Almost a year in, and I finally completed the last bit of OG offline content a couple of weeks ago (Nurburgring CE). Well over 200 (enjoyable) driving hours in the game and all the cars I want, so I don’t really see why people feel hard done by somehow.

Most likely not, since PD believes it never rains in the USA. Jokes aside, we haven't seen rain in any US track (correct me if I'm wrong).
Imagine driving over the bridges in terrential rain.. I mean that's a very long fall :boggled:

Some comparisons of Grand Valley vs. the real-world Bixby Bridge along PCH.

Quite stunning how the new GV takes a lot of cues from this one bridge, even the land surrounding it suggests it was directly modelled after the terrain surrounding this bridge like Dragon Trail's Adriatic Sea.

Got me thinking that the old GV bridge section and the curves that follow after it have been turned into a bus stop of some kind, which I think is for the best, never liked that long sweeping turn, only loved trying to scrape the underside of my cars on the sidewalk to see sparks in GT4.
