Agreed, the F1's are garbage and shouldn't be allowed outside of F1-specific races. I *really* wish they hadn't put those cars in and had instead thrown in six more normal cars (especially options under 18,000).

The VX220 is the same car as the Opel Speedster, if I remember right. The Speedster is a great car for the MR races and pretty cheap at that. Other good options include the Clio Sport V6 24v, because you could use it later on in the Clio trophy, the RUF 3400S because it could be used in the Boxer Spirit, and the Tommy kaira ZZ-S because it is just one great little car. The NSX Type R is always good, so's the Motorsport Elise, but those can be pricey for the Beginner League.

No kidding! First time I tried it, I felt as if I was driving on ice until I learned to watch the throttle. :-)

I agree that the NSX Type R is the best overall bet, but I can understand that cash is short right now. Maybe you can look over that little MR set in Beginners for a little while, and go after some Amateur Level races for a while. Money will add up quick if already have a decent car to compete on Amateur...

If not, you could always take your best car to the Super Speedway race in the GT World Championship on Beginners. It is the second race in the series, just race it alone over and over. You can gain 10,000 credits for each race in about 10 minutes or less depending on your best car.

Do that several times and then you can buy the more expensive car. The NSX Type R will take care of some Beginners and Amateur race sets like the MR and Type R challenges.

Good luck

The nsx is about the best you can do at this stage in the game, or if you can wait get enough $$ and buy a zonda thats good as well but not as kind on tires. :)

Citroen Xsara kit car, easily. Up to 375bhp avaliable and great handling because of the downforce given by it being a rally car.

The citroen drives very nicely.

The most HP in an FF car I think comes up in the Acura CL. I could never get it to drive very well though.

I raced all the FF through the race with the Integra Type R. Watch the understeer though. I think the walls at Rome were magnetized.

Xsara is best handling(imo).
I thought the Integra Type R had the highest HP but I could be wrong. I diden't like the handling of this car at all though, MAJOR understeer.

it's definitely the acura R. to counter the horrible understeer, i set the rear stabilizer 2 settings lower and set the brake balance much stronger in the front, locking the front down much tighter using inertia to bring the rear end around.

Brake balance much stronger in front ??
Could you be more precise please, cause I really want to try your settings...

i don't have precise settings. just a rule of thumb that when you have a car that tends to understeer, you want to make the rear of the car unstable as you enter a corner. making the brake balance favor the front by say, 15 to 9, will make the front lock down tighter and bring the rear around (think of the physics of hard front braking while entering a turn). less stabilization in the rear will force the rear to break out and get you into a power slide, you want this with this car. also, in a powerful FF car, i find it useful to turn the traction control up higher than i would with an FR or RR car (say FF-4 / FR,RR-2 or 1) this will create more bite in the front to straighten out the car after the slide that is created by forcing oversteer. you don't want your drive wheels spinning out while you're trying to drive out of a slide. hope this can be of help.

you can toy with the settings as you wish. the important thing here is the concept. i'm not at home right now so i can't give her a quick tune, but you get the drift (literally). i recommend you try it out yourself and see what you come up with. if that's not working out, i'll figure out a good complete set of settings for you.

Hmmm, I do try to force the understeering cars into oversteer with the settings but used the opposite approach on brakes. I'll have to try that sometime.

think about it. your momentum is moving forward. if you break more strongly in the front, that will transfer more weight from the rear to the front of the vehicle thereby "anchoring" the front end.. at the same time you are making the rear lighter. this coupled with the lateral force brought about by turning the wheel, will make the rear end break out and slide, negating the inherent understeer of the front wheel drive.

However with the rear of the car breaking less than the front, more realistically, the front braking more than the rear, it's a higher chance of the frontend losing traction.

If you brake the rear of the car harder, it is more likely that the rear wheels will lock (AKA lose traction) and teh backend will swing out.

There are only a few FF races in the game, and I just bludgened my way through them to get on the way. Get the Integra Type R, hit the shop, and make sure to brake early.

while that argument is also right on the money, the rear breaks out before the loss of front traction becomes an issue. after the rear breaks out from being super light and reletively unstable, the momentum of the car changes and makes the momentary lack of front traction immaterial due to the powersliding. if you lock up the rear, you'll have traction in the front but don't forget that with an ff drive, you are PULLING the weight of the car out of the corner as opposed to PUSHING it as with an FR or RR drive. you want to use the momentum of the car to slide it and point the front wheels the way you want by using your centrifugal force. enough talk, just try it and see what you come up with.

For fun the ITR. For sheer grip and pace the Xsara rally. :)

The Taivon Trampio FTO from GT2 would have whipped both of them tho'. ;) (Probably because the physics were a bit unrealistic, but... :D )

Hey dudes the Xsara Rally Car rules (without setting change).
Rather than change the settings I find it interesting learning to cope with understeer.

If you mess about with the settings to much eventually it'll knack up the car major style. Minor adjustments are ok but:

'If something's not broken don't fix it'

Later...........
