Lotsa headphones and ear buds in the house with mics for phone calls, but they all connect via Bluetooth and I don't think you can connect one to a PS5 that way (unless I am mistaken) since the official Sony one comes with a RF dongle. I was planning on getting the Sony headset as it seems to always rank in the top five of lists I see for best PS5 headset. I use a wheel instead of a controller, so using a wired one to connect via the controller is not an option for me.
I wear hearing aids, so I'm not sure what the best option is for my needs - on-the-ear, over-the-ear, etc, and I don't know where to research that.
I will probably pass on online events until I get a headset - I'm waiting on some rewards points on my Best Buy Visa card to get issued and will then make a purchase.

You can connect a wired headset to the controler and use the wheel at the same time. I use both all the time, change from one to another for texting for exemple

Mostly just messing around and getting familiar with the menus and such. There was a point where I couldn't choose "Spectate" and that's when I clicked on "Enter" to see what would happen - I figured nothing would since I didn't have the correct car, but I was wrong (I chose to not go out on the track with the Supra that was my current in-game car).
I had tried looking for the event shortly after 7:30 ET and couldn't find it, but I am a real noob when it comes to the lobby and poking around in there.
Is there a group of cars that you usually choose from for events, or are you guys all over the map to make it interesting? Asking if I should buy the Civic race car you were using tonight?
Does the "original" Geezer Club thread detail what happens during a typical race event? Details on practice, qualifying, race length, tuning, etc? I hate to ask too many questions here as I don't want to annoy people like what happens on car forums where the new guy comes in and asks questions and all the old timers (pun unintended) jump all over them and yell "SEARCH".

Hi Mark, nice to meet you. The easiest way to address any questions is joining one of the lobbies with a headset. Everyone is very accommodating, we were all first timers at some point. This is especially true now with GT7 because of the clunky nature of the lobby control system.

Hello Mark, We usually do not have a set list of cars when we were using GT Sport because the controls provided by the program were enough to have a shotgun approach to choosing cars. It was basically an in game process from race to race where the cars and tracks were chosen by the participants. GT7 as it is currently structured is completely incomplete when it comes to hosting a room. It's much too involved to type out the issues, but hopefully future updates will help sort things out. I strongly recommend getting a headset so you can communicate with us. (we do a lot of communicating) We run very laid back rooms that tend to have a lot of chatter between racers. No need to feel intimidated, just join in and have fun. Join us and all your questions will be answered. We were all newbees at one time and despite our age most of us can still remember stuff. I have added your name to our "party" list so you can join the "chat". Saturday morning 8:30 ET we have another race that Luiz will host. Look at this thread for his race details as he's usually better at preparation - get a headset and start learning.

Cars we may use:
Mazda Touring Car (90.000 @ dealer) - Sport Soft Tires
Supra GT500 '97 - Race Hard Tires
Civic Type R (EK) Touring car (may be found at the used cars dealers) - Sport Soft Tires
Any Gr.4 (if every one have it) - Race Hard Tires
Race and Track conditions:
Weather: Sunny and Clear Day
Laps: 5 to 9 depending on track length
Grid: Stand start
Tire: consumption during race will be set @ 4x for all cars
Fuel: consumption during race will be set at 60 liters and 5x for all cars
Qualify: fastest first for every race
Penalty System: on
Boost: ON Strong
Slipstream: ON Real
Here is how it's gonna work: I will open the lobby with the designated car and track with BoP On and Tuning Prohibited.
We will race one race with each car and then move to another track with the same 4 cars. The person that cames in 4th place, in the last race, will pic the next track.
First Race/Qualify

Well,, I did find that my issue was OPERATOR ERROR,, I did not see the second race on that menu page. As most of you know I did join the Geezer Gang chat while I started catching up doing and completing as many menus as I could, listening to the many challenges you gents were experiencing with the issues in the lobby races. Unfortunately I did not finish Menu #9 in time to join the GEEZER races,, but I did finish later that eve. I've been playing quite a bit and am now at Menu #20, have all the licenses and have finished the first segment of Missions. I'm increasing my car count and believe I'm READY FOR SATURDAY MORNINGS RACES!
Yes, I am so much enjoying the game and look forward to showing you old fellers again ~ "I'm just THAT GOOD!"

I'm interested in joining you guys, probably only on the weekends. Many of your members know me, some I've raced with since the early days of GT online racing, prologue I believe. Wednesdays are out, I still work and 10 is my usual bedtime. I don't foresee any problems on the weekends as I am usually up and at it before 6. Thank you.

Below are the race times we currently have. Hope to see you this weekend. Please try to have a headset so you can know what is going on. GT7 is a bit more difficult to host rooms due to the online part of the game being incomplete. I'll send a FR. You can join us on Wednesday and leave when you want. Our races typically are short 5 - 10 laps depending on the track length. We have a short attention span.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am expecting another batch of menu books in an update at some point. I would expect menu books to cover Gr 3, Gr 2 and Gr 1 cars. The current extent of menu books is woefully incomplete.

I decided on a SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless for reasons I won't bore you guys with (due to my hearing issues). Until my credit card rewards show up on my account, I was going to pick up a PS5 headset at Best Buy this evening, but come to find they now close at 7:00 every night. I'll pick it up tomorrow.
I have a friend (from when we were teens) who is now 66 and he downloaded GT7 yesterday, so hopefully he'll be interested in joining this group when he feels ready.
