Microtransactions are not a con and they aren't illegal.

This game can be played without ever spending another dollar of our money. credits are earned through racing and eventually you'll have enough credits to buy the cars you want.

Some want the cars right now and they have the option to buy credits to get those cars now. there's nothing wrong with that either.

It's called a business model and that's not going away anytime soon. Console, pc, mobile gaming... It's everywhere.

If anyone here develops an app that becomes popular where millions of people download it and you know you can offer some kind of add-on or outfit or special weapon and charge $0.99 for that item, you would do it.

The people who downloaded your app will be the ones who decide if they want to pay for it or not.

We have already experienced, for the past 3 years, that earned credits are how we buy cars in GT. This isn't anything new and it's not like they tricked us into buying their game.

For anyone who hasn't tried pc2, this might be a great time to try it. Every car and every track and every feature is available to you from the moment you download the game

Feels like they're just punishing us for seeing through their microtransaction con.

Stop defending it. That's your opinion. Sure feels like a con when you're paying £70 for a game that's only 30% accessible.

Everything I said is a fact. Please look up the difference between a fact and an opinion and then come back and tell me which of my words constituted an opinion.

That's some great insight, even better, we as players have the option to boycott these dumb microtransavtions by not being impatient and not buying them.

gt sport had microtransactions but they weren't as predatory as these
Genuine question - what makes GT7s micro transactions predatory? To me predatory would suggest they pop-up on a regular basis to try and entice you. I’ve only seen them when I’ve physically looked for them!

You talking about cosmetics, cars are a part of the game you pay for, additional cars added post launch can be considered as that add ons, if i pay for something that i can't own this smells like a lawsuit
In this case they made sure progress would be slow and tedious, when i finished fm7 I didn't have all 500 cars but I had most of them, here you get only one forth of the car list after completing a campaign which is cafe, so basically what you saying is a lot of baloney

I don't need to look up the difference. How I FEEL is a fact and I feel conned. I wasn't looking to buy a game that sells microtransactions so hard, like some crappy phone game. If they were transparent about it I would not have bought it.

As I said you are free to feel differently. I won't be buying another of their games on release or paying in to their game anymore. And I've been supporting pd since 97.

The obscene amount of time you need to play to get enough credits to buy a car, which might even be not be available, the 'limited stock' in the dealership, the invitation to buy reward, it all is trying to make you FOMO. Haven't got the credits, go to the store and drop £200 to get your favourite car, just incase you don't see it again.

Found it right there... the adjective "great" itself is an opinion. But, to be fair, everything else you said is a fact.
Btw, I'm just having some lighthearted fun here, not trynna be a d-bag. Come on, laugh with me :)

Exactly!

About 4 years ago, I learned of a "MyTeam" feature in a game called NBA 2K. The ability for me to use Superstars from my childhood was a great attraction.

I spent a couple thousand dollars in just a few weeks so that I could use these players that I grew up watching. I didn't realize that I was addicted and caught in a trap.

I didn't have to spend a single dollar to buy any of those packs but I did. Outside of letting one of my kids get an outfit for a character they like, here or there we don't do micro transactions in this home.

But, as you say, it is our choice and for some reason, there's a minority of people who think there should be no microtransactions and who think every single car should be theirs from the beginning, as if that was promised by PD or something, even though it never was.

There are too many people who think they DESERVE something for nothing. That's the new ENTITLED generation.

We all feel disappointed but this is quite an insignificant thing.

Except the way to properly implement microtransactions into your game is to set up your in-game economy where normal gameplay is still rewarding for the time invested & the MXT is there as an option as a way to make acquiring things slightly easier.

It's a balance most game developers know how to work it into their design. PD has so far, dropped the ball because it's quite clear the in-game's low payout system in combination with cars that only appear for a limited time being starts leaning towards predatory because the choice is try to grind out hours and hours of 1-2 races to raise funds in time, or wait who knows how long for the car to come back around.

And there's the old strawman.

Well first of all they were excluded from most reviews of the game pre release.

Then, unless you have hundreds of hours to spare to grind away relentlessly on dull races, the most expensive cars will only be accessible if you are willing to pay. Now call me old or cynical, but that stinks when I've paid full price at release. I'm an old school GT player, I would accept 2-3 hours maximum grinding for a certain car or two. But currently it is completely out of whack.

It costs $120 to buy a single car in the game when the game is 60, 70, or 90 dollars depending on if you ha e ps4, ps5, or you wanted collectors edition. The same car in Sport was 10 dollars. On top of that every time you get credits it has a "top up on credits on the ps store!" thing that pops up, one of the first things I noticed

the business model you describe would not and does not normally apply to a game that costs £60~ if you pay full price for a game, you should reasonably be able to attain all the content available within it at launch in a reasonable time frame, grinding for hundreds or thousands of hours to avoid mtx is not reasonable.

It litterly asks to top off your balance everytime you buy something.
Nah predatory means Kazs clones come after you with kunai every time you don't buy mtx, come on, this is easily acceptable, no wonder they getaway with anything these days, sheeple are blind
