Holy hell we're into day 2!! How are you wonderful and very bored people?
You've just missed it then, because yes you have been asked to. It's always been there, on every purchase, at the bottom of the card that pops up when you make a purchase.I have not once been asked to top off my balance and I’ve spent like 15million credits in game
Seems like many people on here have absolutely no idea about Japanese work culture.I work for Sony in the UK and our Japanese colleagues regularly answer emails at what I know is passed midnight for them. If there are major issues they will do crazy hours. I'd imagine the guys at PD would be the same.
Yes, there is. Just because you don't like those reasons doesn't make them any less valid. There is no good reason for GT7 needing to be online or to totally restrict single player content if it can’t connect.
To prevent people cheating. It may be a PITA at times but the occasional minor inconvenience to what will be 0.0000000001% of the games life time is much more preferable to having to suffer tiresome cheats for the remaining 99.9999999999%.You're absolutely ****ing right, why does it need to be online only?
After spending a small fortune playing Tekken 2 in an arcade, and finding out the arcade hardware was based on the prototype of the PlayStation hardware, I bought a PlayStation for Tekken 2 and was pleasantly surprised that it was, for all intents and purposes, identical to the arcade version (apart from the loading times of course). That led me to getting Gran Turismo, and Gran Turismo 2, and thus...In 2010 I bought a PS3 Slim for Uncharted 2 (this was my first console ever after being a long time PC gamer). So you can thank Uncharted for me eventually getting GT5 and GT6 on the PS3 (and a wheel and pedals) as well.
In 2015 I bought an Xbox One for Forza Motorsport 6 (this was my first Xbox console). And you can thank the long absence of any GT title for the PS4 for me not buying a PS4 but an Xbox instead and start being involved with the Forza franchise.
In 2017 I bought a PS4 Pro for Horizon Zero Dawn, certainly not for GT Sport. Wasn’t even planning on getting GT Sport because the game was such a stripped down version of GT6, but eventually decided to buy it anyway. But if it wasn’t for Horizon Zero Dawn I would not have played GT Sport.
Later on I have bought Xbox One X and Xbox Series X consoles as well but that was just for the continuation of the Xbox platform (which I’m heavily invested in) with stronger hardware, not for a certain specific game.
So yeah, people do buy consoles for a single game. Of course once you own the console you will get other games as well.
You don't know PD at all, do you?I am way more concerned by the not existing communication than anything else. I mean they obviously have a massive problem they should at least communicate what the problem is through various channels. The downtime needs to be addressed. That's silly now after so many hours of no communication. It's shameful esp for a Japanese company I work internationally and I am actually baffled and worried about the lack of communication.
When you win roulettes it says top off your balance in the ps store when it's adding the credits to your accountI have not once been asked to top off my balance and I’ve spent like 15million credits in game
Ok, that makes sense to me. I'm a little glad they are trying to tackle cheating cause older games like CoD have that problem a lot, but I can't help but think there must be a better way.Seems like many people on here have absolutely no idea about Japanese work culture.

Got my PS2 specifically for GT3, and subsequently bought GT4.
Got my PS3 specifically for GT5, and subsequently bought GT6.
Got my (GT branded) PS4 specifically for GT Sport, although haven't yet bought GT7 because experience of GTS has taught me to wait for the majority of casuals and clowns to get bored of GT7.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this might be the only Gran Turismo game that had its payouts flat-out nerfed, like, completely halved. Making the credit grind a chore is a bad idea - making a grind bearable and varied would mitigate that. Nobody expects to get a 20 million credit car in 5 minutes, that a crock of nonsense, but people want to get credits and be able to purchase upgrades and these other little things without wasting so much time on accruing credits like it's a part-time job.Servers still down?… yup, damn!
But why is there so much bitching about micro transactions in this thread, can’t you read the thread title?
And to those people, have you never played a GT game before? Part of the appeal is the grind for credits. I think back to GT2 and the times I had to forget about progress and do races just to earn cash to get the next car. Sure you could pay some actual cash to get some of those expensive cars but why? You can easily earn those credits just by playing the game, it just takes a little time. Imagine an RPG where everything was all unlocked at the beginning, maximum powers, stats at max, there would be no point in playing it all.
Anyway servers still down? Yep.
Damn!!!!!

Please no more 5k credits, I suffered enough already!I predict 5k credits compensation per player...a truly unremarkable effort.
When it becomes illegal is if it's a game for minors and it has things that incentivise gambling without a warning abt gambling addiction and all that stuff.Nobody said they're illegal though? At most people might've said they should be illegal.
NahNot true of all tablets, my tablet can be used just like a fully functioning PC or as a tablet depending on what I am using it for.
Exactly, people are mad abt the servers being down, but at the end of the day after the servers come up if there isn't a possible way to obtain the credits you need to progress without spending hundreds of hours or your money then there's no reason to be upset about the servers and more reason to be upset about the mtx.LOL People defending PD LOWERING credit value in races to channel you into MTX? 🤣
We all know GT has grinding, but lowering the payout based on what races are popular to earn credits is DISINGENUOUS, MANIPULATIVE, and done with zero good will.
No matter what race they ever add in future, if this is PD's attitude, they will never let you grind for credits like any of the past GTs.
Their behaviour is indefensible with lowering the payout. (and yes, they knew exactly which races to lower payout based on their gathered data on which races we are doing)
Except it doesn'tWhen it becomes illegal is if it's a game for minors and it has things that incentivise gambling without a warning abt gambling addiction and all that stuff.
1.08 released, but the servers are still down.I just experienced something strange: I booted the game just to see if perhaps it was back up, and instead of the connection error message, I got the automatic update download... again. Then the installation message and progress bar, just like yesterday. It installed and... connection error message again.
... are they messing with me?
Then you have a very unique version of GT7. The rest of us are being asked to "top off" MULTIPLE times throughout our play sessions. Even our PS5 dashboard wants us to top off more with 100,000 cr for the LOW LOW PRICE of.....I have not once been asked to top off my balance and I’ve spent like 15million credits in game
Even ****ing ACTIVISION didn't stoop to this level. They even made it possible to earn weapons and things. WTF PD AND SONY, FIX YOUR ****!!!So you get an "invitation" to be able to buy a certain car but it's only available for a limited time and costs x millions of credits. That's clearly trying to coerce you into buying micro transactions and that is despicable. HEY SONY! I'VE ALREADY PAID MONEY FOR YOUR GAME!
Did you see the trial with that one game company, either Activision or EA, one of those 2, and they got in trouble for promoting minors to gamble.Except it doesn't
Its never said that to me,the option is there underneath but it doesnt ask me to top off in the ps store.Maybe different regions.?When you win roulettes it says top off your balance in the ps store when it's adding the credits to your account

My fam that's very into GT7, probably play about 100+ a week since launch has already told me with these nerfed payouts they don't really have the motivation to bother grinding for credits anymore. This will bitePD in the ass long term, because they may find people just stop playing their game rather than buy their currency.Exactly, people are mad abt the servers being down, but at the end of the day after the servers come up if there isn't a possible way to obtain the credits you need to progress without spending hundreds of hours or your money then there's no reason to be upset about the servers and more reason to be upset about the mtx.
On this episode of Drive to GT; Yamauchi & Herman Hulst meet off-camera but with their mics still on to talk about the downed servers. After intense discussion, Yamauchi leaves frustrated, breaking the office door on the way out.I hope they make a documentary of behind the scenes what is happening right now, can be quite a drama there. Could be terrific netflix documentary.
My guess they have no clue how to fix servers, and can take more days.
