GT 7 Servers are still down...

B80
Interesting choice of words ' pains me to say...' re future plans/ updates.

Maybe a lost in translation thing, but hands somewhat tied (by Sony?).
It's a bit on the literal side. Another version with less room for misunderstanding would've been "it's frustrating/too bad that I can't share the details right now."
Better/less literal version would be "We are going to keep improving GT7 so that as many players as possible can enjoy the game, and I can't wait to share the details with you as soon as possible."

"if possible would like to try to avoid a situation where a player must mechanically keep replaying certain events over and over again.
We will in time let you know the update plans for additional content, additional race events and additional features that will constructively resolve this.
It pains me that I can’t explain the details regarding this at this moment, but we plan on continuing to revise GT7 so that as many players as possible can enjoy the game.
We would really appreciate it if everyone could watch over the growth of Gran Turismo 7 from a somewhat longer term point of view."

I'm happy with that. It would, of course, be nonsensical if the entire point of the game were to drive the same dull race thousands of times until you have enough credits to obtain the cars required to start playing the game properly. At least now we know that is not his idea of how the game should work. I'll wait for his solution in the future.

Those words alone are better than any response I ever got from PG when I complained about problems in FH4.

Except then the game came back and we have zero money-making options other than paying $30-40 USD each for the more expensive cars in game.

What I find fascinating is how when anything goes wrong with a GT product, so many people are immediately attacking PD or Kazunori Yamauchi and pretty much accusing them of being fraudsters, liars, cheats etc.
They are human beings like everyone- we all make mistakes. Jesus Christ, put things into perspective. It's a game that you'll have no access to for a few days top whack. It's not a case of life or death 🙄
For the third time, it’s the lowered race payouts that have caused the rebellion. The long maintenance surely doesn’t help, but I think you’d see a tad more calm and collectedness if yesterday’s patch notes had’t basically said “**** y’all”.

Can't still win any Credits **** you PD 🤬

I get making cars artificially rare to exacerbate the joy of collecting, but like...don't do that bro.

In any case, I'll continue supporting PD like the little gremlin fanboy that I am. But I don't see myself returning to GT7 for the foreseeable future.

It's fine with me, I'll just play other games until GT7 is a game I want to play. It's basically the same situation as AoE 4, which still isn't in the state it should have shipped in, many months after release. I just dip into playing these games when I feel like it. If they improve them in the future, I'll play them more. What he said in his message suggests that GT7 will improve in the future, in terms of how I'd like it to be, so I'll just wait for that to happen, just like I'm waiting for AoE 4 to have better hotkeys, better camera control, global production queue, a scenario editor, and everything else it should have shipped with.

Is it? Because I see nothing in that statement that actually addresses the problems with the in game economy...or the fact that ultimately, they're still going through with the micro-transactions, still going through with the credits nerf, and still making it a real hellscape to own any of the expensive cars that they expect you to collect. So really, we're back at square one, hell, even a few steps backwards from that.

That's cool, an $80 Canadian game is a lot of money for me.

PG never even acknowledged problems. People asking them to fix ranked team adventure ratings had their messages deleted from Twitch chat. At least Kaz here has acknowledged the problem and promised it will be solved in the future.

$90 if you're buying the base version on PS5...and north of a hundred with the 25th anniversary edition.

Also, I am seeing absolutely nothing in that statement that it's Sony who made the call to monetize the game to the level that it's at. It takes two to tango, and it sure isn't helped that Polyphony is more or less continuing on with prior procedure and cratering the in game economy to force people to buy MTX's for literally any high end car if they don't want to grind to an untenable degree.

I have ps4, maybe that's why
I have the PS4 version too and never had any message, popup or something like that, asking or reminding me of the possibility to top of my credits balance.

If some region(s) or PS5 versions have that, now I understand the annoyance of people about MXT.

For me grinding for cars and upgrades is normal in GT, except PD putting brutal timelines to gather credits with the invites to buy some cars. In other hand, those are cars that have no use at all at the game present moment.

I wanted to explain what happened in this update.

Immediately before the release of the 1.07 update, we discovered an issue where the game would not start properly in some cases on product versions for the PS4 and PS5.

This was a rare issue that was not seen during tests on the development hardware or the QA sessions prior to the release, but in order to prioritize the safety of the save data of the users, we decided to interrupt the release of the 1.07 update, and to make a 1.08 correctional update.

This is the reason for the delay.
My sincere apologies for the late report to everyone.

Also in this update, some event rewards have been adjusted. I wanted to also explain the reasons for it and our plans going forward.

In GT7 I would like to have users enjoy lots of cars and races even without microtransactions.
At the same time the pricing of cars is an important element that conveys their value and rarity, so I do think it’s important for it to be linked with the real world prices.
I want to make GT7 a game in which you can enjoy a variety of cars lots of different ways, and if possible would like to try to avoid a situation where a player must mechanically keep replaying certain events over and over again.

We will in time let you know the update plans for additional content, additional race events and additional features that will constructively resolve this.

LOL People defending PD LOWERING credit value in races to channel you into MTX? 🤣

We all know GT has grinding, but lowering the payout based on what races are popular to earn credits is DISINGENUOUS, MANIPULATIVE, and done with zero good will.

No matter what race they ever add in future, if this is PD's attitude, they will never let you grind for credits like any of the past GTs.

Their behaviour is indefensible with lowering the payout. (and yes, they knew exactly which races to lower payout based on their gathered data on which races we are doing to grind)
And certain outlets have the audacity to call it an exploit ffs.

I just launched GT7 and it said servers are still down. It does let me play single-player mode but said to make sure to connect to the server before closing to save game status.

I can understand the controversy over microtransactions. It's one thing to make the game more available to those who do not want/or are unable to invest the time to get the whole experience. It's another to design the game to force your dedicated fanbase down that road. Decreasing payouts and money caps is obviously meant to hamstring the in-game credit earner and drive them in another direction. The ultimate expression of this is more like a free phone game app that compels you to spend money to advance beyond a certain point. I didn't pay $80 for a phone app in this case. We can debate all we want about this but it will ultimately be decided with consumers wallets. Maybe us dinosaurs are on the way out and the here today gone tomorrow, immediate grattification customers are the new target market. But I digress...
