Eclipsee your english is way better than my spanish...¡no entiendo mucho!
Its a shame you're not participating any further as you are very quick, would you still do it (pay the expenses) if it was a job interview that you wanted ? I would.
I wonder if this is why Bruno didn't bother.

All the best to you anyway.

any hitmen on here who can track down and get rid of 3 of the top 20 before the national finals inbox me, money waiting lol

On a serious note. Has anyone on here ever been put on standby for the finals in previous academys? How quickly do you hear if you are to be put on standby?

Cheers lads

Your hear within a few days.... your automatically be on 'the waiting list' just incase people drop out, last year 25th placemade it and there are about 8 unkown names this year so maybe just maybe a chance for you! havent heard anything yet... but i guess there trying to contact potassuim... who is of course not eligable.

Congrats to all who made the Top 20 of their country and to all who will be invited to attend the finals.

I'm looking forward to meet all the GTP Dutchies 👍

I just got the phone call now so im guessing there going through everything today :)

Congratulations to all who made it!!

Special mentioning to Ramon for outstanding time!! 👍  Great work!

Yeah I got the call as well, looks like I need to get myself a passport ASAP :dunce:

I almost missed out last because of a passport, i never had one so it took a joke of a time to come, i fast tracked it and it still took about 6-8 weeks costing over £100, i think the whole competition finished by the time i got it, luckily they let me enter because i had proof of buying it and believed it wouldve of been there in time for silverstone if i made it that far.... no contact from jaridne yet... then again im proabably at the bottom of the list for getting contacted...

I haven't been contacted yet. Staying patient :D

Edit: just got the call :)

I didn't get the call or an E-mail... I have never checked my E-mails in one day as often as I do now:dopey:
Hope I will be contacted soon, can't wait!

davissi, I would pay the expenses of a job interview if there would be guarantees about justice in that job selection, fair play and a good organisation are the keys here, if you would see the last year GTA spanish finals videos you would know that was a bad taste joke, watching those videos even I was lucky to get into the final race.

I suppose Bruno is in the same boat, it's weird to see him in the 28th place being the fastest portuguese without any doubt.

I'm not the only spanish more than upset by this issue, I know some really fast spanish guys didn't push as they could in the leaderbord by the same issue.

I wish you the best, I know you won't have fair play troubles in UK bearing in mind the last GTA UK organisation, everybody said it was exemplar.

Congratulations to all who made it!!

Thank you Timo 👍
If you could have had your back 100% recovered I know we would have had a good battle. :scared: 👍

Interesting stuff there eclipsee and I mean that, it is very interesting to see the views of other players. The way I operate is that you've got to go into the final with a positive attitude and respect to the organisation, you make your own luck and if you go into a tournament thinking that it's doomed then you're only digging a hole for yourself. They can make the odd wrong choice with format's like anything, even F1 isn't perfect but you've got to just go for it !
Everyone get's frustrated by things but if you brush it off and look at the positives it always comes around and pays you back somehow, uncannily!
To say that you cannot guarantee fair play is one way of looking at it, another way is to think you cannot guarantee that you wouldn't win it either. I'd say with your pace Eclipsee there's a very good chance of winning regardless of any bumping or barging. :)
I suppose everyone has a different view and different expectations though, a lot of it based on personal experience.
I thoroughly enjoyed the competition last year and I was the first person to miss out, the biggest influence on that outcome was me forgetting about the slipstream and compromising my grid positions in the following rounds and that's it...my fault ! not one person tried to take me out unfairly, just the odd contact which I survived.

All the best.

It's nice to talk with you davissi, positive attitude is the way to go, but I don't base my thoughts in opinions, I base them in facts and experience from the past.

A lot of spanish finalists and visitors last year were very angry with the organisation, I had a bad experience and I assure you I won't go by the same path again, I can't have a positive attitude if I don't trust in the organisation, that's all.

OK that's fair enough, sounds like you've thought about it a lot. Hey I bet the two people who win the Spanish event are sat there right now with no idea what's going to happen to them. :) That's fate I suppose.

Respect to you Eclipsee anyway.

Ramon, it should be slightly different this year. I cannot give you too many details at this stage, but the organisers of the UK event from last year have a more significant role in all the European events this year. They are not directly organising other territorial finals but they are making the main recommendations to all regions, and those recommendations are not coming from a cold uninterested PR company somewhere, they are not a million miles away from the community. Whether those recommendations are followed by individual territories it remains to be seen. But David's positive attitude is the way to go.

I would say give it one more go, it may be different this time Ramon 👍

All the best
Maz

Anyone started practicing or anything yet?

Of course, never stopped :P

I was thinking it would be cool if a few of us could get together for some practice sessions online.. I mean we could race against anyone, but it would be nice to play against each other a bit before we do it at the nationals.

If anyone is up for it add my PSN. Myself a my3id_Dave have raced before and I found it a good experience because it was clean close racing.

Obviously we are all competing against each other, but there's no point being immature about it. It could do us all good and get to know each other a tiny bit better before the finals.

Yeah good call with the online practicing, its ok to perfect hotlapping, but actual racing head to head adds one extra element to the equation, unpredictable opponents.

I read your post Raymond and I've gotta say I'm slightly dissapointed with your decision not to attend. I know from experience from going to Paris in 2006 for the ESWC that its a big leap of faith, embarking on a journey where the conclusion is uncertain, I had to fully fund my trip that cost 3000 dollars and I knew that I needed to reach the final 4 out of 32 starters to make the trip even remotely profitable. But thats all irrelevant when you're chasing a dream, when you have the chance to taste fame and to feel that sense of accomplishment.

And who's to say that this years national finals will be as unfair as last time? Afterall it is a new game, with new tracks, better physics, reduced slip streaming, all things that would favour actual talented drivers like yourself. Don't make a decision that you'll regret 5 years down the track, its best to just get out there and ****ing give it a crack, make up the numbers, compete mate.

Dan.

Just got a mail from Sony that I'm on standby. They will let me know by Friday :nervous: :ill:

Cooool I'll add you later. I know vibralux will be up for racing as well. Should be some really good close racing if there's enough people.

...

Once this GTA 2011 online stage party is over I think I won't play to GT5 so much, there's not much incentive for me in GT5 right now.
My incentive are official online races and time trials but there aren't official online races and time trials are absolutely random, usually I don't like the ones Polyphony Digital choose every week.

I don't augure a good future for GT5 or Polyphony Digital if they don't put official races or championships as for example iRacing are doing since years ago.

...

Agree with this. Finding it so hard to pick the game up without proper competitions to keep us interested.

Im up for some racing! Always am of course! :). Can't this week till Wednesday but should be fun!!! :) (Well I can but ill be on a pad till Wednesday but still can race with it) How/When will races be organised and such :).

Thank you davissi, Maz and Dan for your intentions. 👍
I said what I had to say, enough is enough, I won't stain this thread anymore with my dirty clothes.

BTW Dan, my name is Ramon and not "Raymond", you already should know that. :mischievous:

I am well up for some online racing, please add me : mikeeb1200 although I'm busy until after the weekend as I have family commitments (a wedding). Great!!

I have never even looked at the online racing section of gt5 so it would be something new for me, I'm not even that familiar with all the tracks yet.

Is everyone thinking that round 2 at brands hatch will be the same as last year as in racing against each other? As I'm not so sure it will be the same, I did already post regarding round 2 and someone replied quoting it would be the first time was non gaming related or something?

Still, I think it would be a good idea to practice anyway, just incase!

Btw, can someone tell me exactly what did happen for round 2 last year and the year before if possible.

Wait what? I hope it's just racing and not some crazy fitness thing lol.
