Hi Des don't think it was me you were talking to? I was at last years GT Academy(IE). I'm 33 if that helps. I think I met a dude called Warren at last years finals. I'm terrible when it comes to remembering meeting people. With a bit of luck we'll meet soon

Oh right wasn't talking to you so. I don't know what happened with Leprechaun because he wasn't allowed to enter in the end. His brother is in the middle with the long sleeves I think? Could be completely off there.

Anyway hopefully you get the call up - It would be nice to have someone else to fly out with!

Yup, got email earlier, can't believe it!!! Was originally suppost to know on Friday but had to sweat it out over the Weekend! Comiserations to those in the top 20 who could not make it for one reason or another.
@Dessy do you know if Sony are covering costs for guest if you chose to bring one?

I'm not bringing anyone along so I honestly don't know. My friends and girlfriend have exams, parents have work. One way or the other, I feel that I will be more focused without someone I know with me.

I'd say we will be getting the same flight from Dublin, Sunday at 6pm. Probably won't arrive in Brands Hatch until after 8 so I'm guessing we'll miss most of that stuff.

Sure hope they bring this to Oceania (+) Asia and keep it going on a regular basis because it's what sets the Nissan, PlayStation and Gran Turismo brands apart from their competitors (for now ).

Just received the paper work we have to fill out.

Here's some of the interesting stuff:

T-shirts will be provided for competitors, but please ensure that you wear comfortable, practical clothing.
The top 10 competitors after day one will be required to undertake a physical test and so please bring training shoes and gym kit.
Please also bring suitable driving footwear.

Unlike in the two previous editions of GT Academy, the 2011 Territory Finals will not be judged solely on gaming ability. Points will be awarded for some additional challenges and one of those, we warn you, will be physical! So please ensure you bring sports clothes and trainers with you.

Looking forward to see how they run this. It appears that 10 will be knocked out after day one. I wonder will it be just GT on day one or a combination of everything.

Sounds very exciting! From the paperwork it looks like they'll mainly have GT on day one.



This is waiting to be heard properly and I don't want to start a whole new thread about it so Nissan, Sony, Polyphony Digital...

I promise your sales in those countries/regions will increase significantly because of GT Academy!

Surely it should be based primarily on talent not on fitness?... far easier to get fitter than to 'gain talent'.

Ouch hopefully I can make the top 10 then as I don't want to be knocked out after day 1! Agree with you there Marky I've been running (2 Miles) and cycling (20 miles)daily (Different days of course) to try get my cardio up as much as possible :s.

My uni work is ahead of schedule thankfully meaning more time to practice!!!

You proved you have some talent by advancing to the next round. It is therefore logical now for them to start searching for guys who have the whole package. It's a good decision.
