Yeah let's run around Brands Hatch is it against one of the fastest runners in Britain :). I honestly don't know what I'd do if I were the organisers regarding format. Its a real real difficult one. There's people with experience behind the wheel I bet so I'm hoping its just the game.
Don't get me wrong I'd love the real stuff that's what I've always wanted and when I drove the SLS in the summer it really gave me a taste but the less unusual outside influences the better if they wanna find what they're looking for.
Its bad enough having to share a track with people who send one up the inside go off and leave you doing 2mph and you're supposed to be chasing the guy in front of them, or slipstream past you whilst you're doing a lap time they wouldn't be able to match.
The only answer really is time trials to find the best to put forward but that's a horribly boring format, no-one would enjoy that. Unfortunately though it stops people hindering you in the game far more than they ever would in real life and people like Ed have always got a target on their back which is unfair on him really.
I don't envy the guys thinking up the format at all but I suppose its impossible to be perfect so they've got to go with what feels the best and we've just got to put up with it hope for the best and hope the format favours us.
I think its easy to get confused with being entertained by Sony/Nissan with a fun experience or demonstrating to them the skills they're looking for even if its in a conservative way.

I think this year's format will be very interesting, varied and I can clearly say that thought and consideration has gone into it. There's a format we want for the event, whether realistically everything can be done the way it was originally envisaged we'll just have to see. In my opinion it will be as enjoyable, if not more enjoyable than last year 👍

All the best
Maz

Awesome :) Can't wait to find out the details when they're released :)

I have a feeling we could be doing some karting. There is a small track beside the main track. It's nothing major but since it's there it would be cool. I think there will be a GT4 370z there as well. They'll prob give the contestants a spin as a passenger like last year which would be awesome.

Other than that, I haven't a clue. Like is the whole thing going to be points based and then the 4 with the most points do the final race at the ring? It's a tough one, what's the point in karting, real driving or fitness tests if it isn't going to contribute to the score or judge's decision.

One way or the other, I can't wait. Should be a great experience. Hopefully Dave gets to come along too. Would be good if we could support each other.

Same here in Hollandia...anybody from Holland had any call/email yet?...

:)

spy.

Nope, I still expect a call/mail as I am 24th on the leaderboard. Hopefully to be on standby, just like DC-Z.

Tonight I will start a lounge for some practice laps and good racing around 18u UK time (PSN= GTHQ_Djie)
For the setup I will select the cars and tracks used in the US GT Academy finals.

The physical tests and real racing is an awesome addition, hopefully I can still participate but the chances are looking slim with passport issues and trying to get time off work, fingers crossed.

Oh man, Im sick now!:yuck: actual racing in the finals? That will be great fun!
I presumed it would be just the usual handfull of head to head races in gran turismo :embarrassed: This format seems quite a bit fairer. Seriously jealous of those who made it now

Awesome news! Really looking forward to driving the 370z :)
Lovin the flag effect :D

Me too mate, cant believe I didn't make it, Im well jealous of the finalists now. :ill:

hopefully there will be another academy next year.

Edit: Spud_Skills, hope you get a passport mate you well deserve it from getting that pad time.

I want to practice so much but 12000 words aren't going to write themselves :(, hopefully get them done before the event :S.

It's awsome to drive in real life, altough it won't be too easy, especially for those that don't have a car with that many HP. In Italy I didn't get a phone call or an E-mail until now.

I hope I can participate, from 30th april to 4th May I have no time, thats because I really want to know when the finals are. In german speaking countries it will be on 6th and 7th May. That would be fine for me. I hope to participate and see you at the finals Pippo ;-)

Cardio exercise in this heat perfect :D, although im more unfit then I first thought its amazing how much you loose after 1 month-1 1/2 month of stopping a fitness regime :S.

Did any Italian driver got an E-mail or a phone call? I thougt they will contact you until 5 days of end, and that would be today.

finally got a driving force gt...now it's time to practice for the final!!! =)
@daniel: ancora niente...
anyone else didn't received the call? (except italians)

Hey Dave, I'm trying to put a face to your name. Was I talking to you at the finals last year? What age bracket are you in and were you one the guys that went to the nationals in 2008 with Warren, or am I thinking of the wrong guy?

Hi Des don't think it was me you were talking to? I was at last years GT Academy(IE). I'm 33 if that helps. I think I met a dude called Warren at last years finals. I'm terrible when it comes to remembering meeting people. With a bit of luck we'll meet soon :)
